What a gorgeous refrain! It reminds me a lot of Gone With the Wind, in the scene where Melanie dies, and she whispers her last breath to Scarlett O'Hara.
Bette Davis is phenomenal. One of the last of the truly great film actresses of her generation. Such a shame that movies aren't made with such talent anymore. What a fucking shame.
The beautiful theme music to this film reminds me a bit of Puccini's 'Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore'(Love and Music) from his opera Tosca. A superb film with a wonderful cast.
Oh God...Bette was such a brilliant actress and individual too!!This is one of my very 'top of the list' favorite movies of hers...and i fukkin LOVE the orchestral refrain that plays all the way through this film too!!An absolute solid PLATINUM offering from Bette and 'The Warner Brothers'!!A+
Please post more of her movies if possible. There are not too many on here, mostly interviews. Those are really great too. She's so animated in them. Thanks for posting, I have this one, but don't know how to make vids.
EVERYtime I hear this exquisite refrain, I'm literally levitated to a place of NO stress, ALL compassion & ALL LOVE, and UNSPEAKABLE BEAUTY & ELEGANCE. As I write this, I'm restoring my mother's 1945 wedding portrait through Adobe, (she was a VERY beautiful woman) and this theme was ABSOLUTELY WRITTEN FOR HER. I always picture her, or ANY other woman who's been treated cruelly by others (and themselves) in life and PRAY for them. WOMEN=ANGELS.
Oh, Jerry. Don't let's ask for modern times. We'll always have Marlboro.

Ohhhhh how I wish they had ended up together!
In my mind, I like to think that eventually they do. (Because come on...how many times do they say that Jerry's wife is sick?)

It's indescribable how she could play (or even invent) the word bitch and at the same time remarkably play such vulnerable, sensitive women.

As great as Bette was, let's face it, Claude Rains steals this movie. He steals every movie!
