I loved the Sands. It was originally named the Brighton Hotel & Casino, borrowing it's name of the structure built there at the turn of the century. I stayed in every new hotel-casino as it open in Atlantic City in those years, but The Sands was my favorite with it's French Restaurant & English Pub. It stood on the sight of the old COLONY MOTEL I had frequented with my parents as a child so I knew the area well. Not a historic loss like the Marlborough-Blenheim or Traymore, but a fond memory.

The grand old Claridge Tower next door watched her neighbor grow up big and tall only to watch her die young!
