That is my understanding, 4 letters and 3 letter lodges are just a difference from UGLE and the Irish originators correct? The shahadah is an oath, obligation, pledge, or decree (however you wish to state it, they are all the same) to worship Allah. Muslims perform a ritual 5 times a day, your prayer.
