well, when I had only 5 years old and now I have 15 =)) I learned english:from my second educator, and even from cartoons. At school my teacher learned us about UK gramatic and accents., especially England's accent. When she putted us to sing, or play a role from a character, it always reminded me to become an actor :d
@Digifan001 Yes I have an English accent. And yes I do live in the UK. I live in London. I can understand what you are talking about so you are making progress.
@soccergirl472 Not in England it isn't. We always say Ex Wi Zed at the end of the alphabet. That is probably one of the differences between us and the Americans who say Ex Wi Zee - as you say. Thank you for noticing this and for your hits. Best wishes from central London - close to zee London Zoo. Have you seen the Talkabout Guide video yet?
Thanks a lot for this peice of information....Can you please give the combination sounds of vowel and consonant (like ba, da,ca,fa,ga,ha,bi,ci di,fi,gi,hi,ji bo,co,do,fo,ho,jo,bu,cu,du,fu,gu,hu,). vowel and consonant sounds like(ab,ac,ad, af,ag,al,ak,am,an,ap,ed,eg, ef, ej, el em, en,er, es,ex, ev,id,if,il,im,in, is,itob,oc,of,om,on,op,or,ov,ow, ul,ug,un,um,up,ur,us, ut).Vowel and vowel combinations(ae,ai,au, ea,ee,ia,io, oa,oi,oo,ou)as it would be easy to pronounce the words correctly.
zed....? lmao...never heard that before...must be because this dude has an english accent. in america we pronounce it zee... all my foreign friends say its better to learn american english because its more widely used...they think understanding the british accent is really hard
Thank you for taking the time to point out what us 'foreigners' make of 'your' language. That is really very kind of you. Now if you wish to speak English, from England, like the English do - then you will use the Zed pronunciation. If you wish to speak English as a foreiner - then you will pronounce it as Zee.
Look people make up your minds, either you want to live in the United States or you want to live in Great Britain.
Choose your pronunciation accordingly. That's all-- no more commentary necessary. I f you say "shedule" here in America people will laugh and snicker. Americans are rude and you know that already.
Carry on and worry about mastering the subject-verb agreement!
Have a good day! and concentrate on your studies I have already mastered English.
You are funny! the reference was not for you! it was for those who want to speak American English! I am very aware of where you are and very admiring of your good manners, quite a contrast from Americans, carry on old chap!!
Good job, thank you for the time you have taken to put these classes together. It is difficult to convey humor in short sentences!
zed? heh thats funny! sorry im from america. good job! good lessons (i think) but i already know english...hm sorry. not criticizing you. zed is funny!
Andrew I had fun making these - and they have astonished me with their take up. Can you tell me two things. The first is where are you teaching? The second - I am going to make another in the series - so what would be helpful to you 'at the front line'? Thank you for your comments and possible help.
I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I am teaching in Osaka, Japan; at a high level high school, a couple of private classes and at a chain of bars/restaurants.
As for a new series; homonyms trip students up as do irregular verbs.
As you say, the g in gentleman that sounds like a j. Yes. thanks. what is this 'a' at the end of things? can you give me an example please. thanks again.
thats interesting about the "q" and "u" together. I just opened an English dictionary and it's true!! I didnt know this before. English is weird but an interesting language

Except U.S, rest of the world pronounce "zed" for Z
sulavr 3 years ago
I seem to be getting into trouble with the pronunciation of the last letter of the alphabet.
In the United Kingdom people say 'zed'.
I have heard people from other parts of the world refer to the word as 'zee'.
Now we can chat about this endlessly but at the end of the day "who cares a stuff".
