  • Such leadership is rare.

  • atheism is the way to go friends. lets save the homeless!

  • but still thank you for the help to the homeless

  • allenrocks13 - Wait, which is it? You're playing both sides there.

  • god does noy give every need to you!OK he wants you to learn to be a good, giveing, loveing, christian but you well see when the rapture happends and you go face to face with god! so better switch your believes soon or you well be condemmed to hell!

  • good job aajoeyjo. i hope that that whole thing works out, and grows, and maybe even gets some media coverage... it's a good thing that you're doing, a damned good thing! is see you even got TXatheist in there with you, awesome!

  • Why would you help people if you don't believe in God?

  • chk428 - You've GOT to be kidding. Are you kidding?

  • Its good that your guys are giving some real help to them in the absence of divine intervention, that isn't going to happen. Still think atheism is a bit negative sounding though, and doesn't account for the fact that there is allot of evidence of a 'design' in science. Terms like intelligent design seem to blow all credibility to such theories, almost like someone did it deliberately.

  • onethatcansee - Well that's pretty far off topic for this video, but what evidence for design is there in science?

If it's in science, how does it blow away...science?

  • I was just watching through your vids linked from the crazy nazi vids.

I meant the intelligent design debate is being headed up by a load of morons, and now the term 'intelligent design' looks unintelligent.

Ive studied science and once you look at it all under a microscope and study the equations and such that bind it all together, you are basically looking at a hugely complex machine. Machines generally don't spawn out of nothing, and you really feel like your looking at someone's handywork.

  • A machine? Wouldn't that mean that the universe and all that's in it are connected physically?Otherwise it's a whole lot of machines. Once we examine little things, I think we see natural actions and reactions. But a "machine" is a human construct. If anything, the universe seems more awesome in the fact that it doesn't require a prime mover, or a machine, for it to keep running.

  • I'm not saying that its a conventional God as such. just that there is some kind of hugely intelligent creative force behind the universe.

Well done giving those homeless people food btw. they seem like nice half intelligent people its sad

  • One thing about our universe that really appeals to me is that it doesn't require someone to run it. We humans assume that everything that seems to us to be complex at all must surely have an intelligent force controlling it. That's OUR mindset based on the fact that we humans think and control certain things here on Earth.

Our universe works despite us quite well, and someday will work well without us, just the same. And that's...okay.

  • I'll be there at 9 am today :)

  • Joe, awesome job. Proud of you and your efforts. Sunday?

  • Yeah I think I want to do this again this Sunday, Sept 13. Around 9am I suppose.

  • Unless something tragic comes up I'll be there will razors and toothbrushes and to help out.

  • Awesome! Thanks. Also feel free to bring more Freethinkers, and I will too. :o)

  • That was so inspiring, Joe. I'm so proud of you and all your efforts to help the homeless while at the same time put a positive face on the atheists. I hope some other Austin atheists will take the time to come out and help you. All the best wishes for you, Joe.

  • yeah, folks like glen beck and limbaugh are not allowing people to get a chance at something new; what's it called? Oh yeah opportunity. There are no opportunities in continuing a process that continues annual break-downs. Aha, the gift card connection. Craigslist is big on those for some reason. keep on keepin man!

  • I'm pretty sure no one else was there. Zamecki was throwing his voice - those ventriloquism classes finally paid off, eh?

  • Ha ha. As I'm leaving you can see more of what I saw...

  • Looks like it went pretty well, although that Andre guy was acting a little funny.

  • I think you did a great job Joe. It's a good reflection on Atheists.

  • ardy22221 - Thanks! :o)

  • nice work =)

  • I just wanna say I'm only 20 years old, but you have inspired me to start a similar operation in my city of Baltimore. Thanks for doing this. :D

  • HipRockInc - Excellent! That's one of the goals with these projects I suppose. Cool!

  • Good work Joe! This Christian is PROUD to have you as a friend!

  • Man, this actually brought tears to my eyes.

I'm not a macho guy or anything, nor am I a water fountain with stuff like this.

Real altruism is rare, Joe you are awesome.

  • I think it's great you aren't "preaching" either, just letting them know more than just church goers care.

  • Do they really need the bottled water though? Can't they find drinking fountains all over the city?

The toothpaste and brush is fantastic, as are the shavers and shampoo.

Maybe next you could throw in some deodorant. But that might make it get really expensive though.

  • True, here in Austin there are lots of free water fountains, so water isn't hard to come by here.

Well first, I had some bottled water from a while back, before I had this idea. Plus it also goes with the other items that tend to necessitate some water. It has so many uses, and it's not so easy to use those other items at a water fountain. I picture some folks washing up outside.

I actually found a homeless guy later on who had about a dozen water bottles. Lots of people give them out.

  • don't get robbed bro LOL

  • I actually thought about, what if someone grabs my camera while my back is turned, while I put together those bags on my pickup? No one even approached me that whole time.

That whole area is patrolled a lot by APD, and the main headquarters building for APD is right there, at I-35 and 8th St. So there are security cameras all over the place, and a whole lot of people have been busted right there. It's almost like a staging area for anarchy being squashed.

I watched my back. I need help!

  • Yes you do need some help I live far away sorry bro.

I'll tell you what, when they say "Jesus is looking over them" you tell them GodkillerAtheist is holding Jesus up there by his tampon string =D

No no don't do that they might get offended but it would be uber funny...

  • Joe walks the walk. Proud of everything you do brother.

  • Mahoivlich - Thanks! It's nice to be noticed. :o)

  • great work, God Bless lol.

  • good job Joe! Way to be the example.

  • luv it!

Are you going to ask the ACA for help?

  • I've asked a few members of the ACA for help, but I was waiting until I did this successfully at least once before pitching the idea to their e-mail list.

Plus I wanted this to be a stress-free project, so for now, it's individuals only I suppose. We'll see how it goes.

  • Great job!

  • That's great, man. People really helped out.

  • Heart-warming.
