  • Most definitely one of the worst acting performances of all time

  • And this is why Canadian people can't do British accents.

  • At 2:00 the Count is just laughing about Keanu's terrible performance.

  • What's really funny is that his accent is better than Winona Ryder's accent.

  • have you seen how Budapest is written in the journal in the video? "Buda-Pesth" logically the word "Buda" would be pronounce the way he does. Don't you think the director would have told him if he had made a mistake? instead of juste repeating the same thing again and again!

  • It's even funnier if you live a mere 10 kilometers from Byudapest, like me.

  • That wasn't maniacal laughter at the end, I can tell you that much. Also, just to know if Keanu is capable of any emotions whatsoever, I want there to be a sex tape released. Just to found out if he's still bland when orgasming. Weird, I know, but I just want to know if he's a robot or not.

  • Can I please get a Brit's opinion on his accent?? THANKS.

  • @baldingmoose

If he walked around anywhere in Britain he would be asked where the fuck he is from. Thats how gash it is.

  • @RyanLaquer lolllll i am not british and even to me it sounds weird.

  • whoa

  • IIVEN MOY BOIS AKTIN IZ BEDA

  • Nice job, Reeves. Worst English accent I think I've ever heard.

  • lmao he sounds fucking retarded :D

  • Moldeivia? MOLDEIVIA? What the dickens are you doing with the name of my republic? And Byudapest? I'll sic Dracula on your ample bottom, Neo!

  • @lordviorio what are you talking about? they are really pronounced in this way. open the Oxford dictionary and you'll see the transcription: [mɒlˈdeɪvɪə], [ˌb(j)uːdəˈpɛst]. Consult the dictionary before accusing an actor of mispronunciation.

  • @replicant1ukr, Dude, I'm a native of that country. I know exactly how you have to pronounce it, thank you very much.

  • @lordviorio is it a joke? we are talking about English pronunciation, not about how it should be pronounced in the native language of that country. So your nativeness doesn't mean anything here.

  • LOL - "Whea to be mahwehd as soon as I whetuhn."

  • He is for sure the wrong person for this role. I think it would have been the best vampire movie ever if someone else played ths role instead of him, like Jonny Depp for instance. Hopkins, Oldman and Sadie Frost are all great. Winoma Ryder is good too but hardly great.

  • @strawberrytoejam83 are you kidding? Depp is perfect with a British accent

  • I did a better British accent when I played General Cornwallis in my grade school play "Final Victory at Yorktown."

  • A good movie is one that has very little or no "distractions", anything that takes the viewer's focus away from the story being told. This movie has the potential to be a "good" movie, but that is sadly ruined by Keanu's laughably bad British Accent. I've heard rednecks with better British Accents than this colossal mess.

  • His british accent sucks! He sucks!

  • im torn between this and russell crowes accent in robin hood as to which is truely insulting to the english people.

  • @strawberrytoejam83 Keanu Reeves sucks when he plays any role but that of a stoner.

  • This movie is amazing but that accent of his is ridiculously bad, but amusing

  • I like Keanu Reeves and I think he's so underrated, but hearing him call my city BYUDAPEST makes me sad. :(

  • His accent sounds fine considering he is an actor, why do people have to hate lol

He was young, you have to start somewhere.

  • @learntoday don't be an idiot he probably got paid 10 times as much as your parents' yearly salary just to do this movie, the least an actor can do is learn a believable accent

  • Keanu's acting has gotten better over the years...he was amazing in The Lakehouse. It may depend on the director and script.....really they should have gotten him a dialect coach for this movie....though Winona's attempt at speaking in tongues or whatever in this movie was pretty painful to watch....

  • Worst Attempted Accent of All Time and Worst Actor of All Time.........

  • XDDDD guess I'm not the only one who was bothered by this

  • It's like a bad imitation of C-3P0... his "southern" accent in the Devil's Advocate was about as brilliant as this one!

  • 1:48 DO NOT WANT!

  • Hehe, I'm glad my native language isn't English. Sounds decent to me. :)

  • How can you mock his accent and then at the same time laugh at the way he says Budapest like an English person would?

  • @SaxonToaster ....mate you're just wrong as an English person I can faithfuly say you're just wrong

  • lol iv heard worse british accents from british ppl lmao you guys are clowns

  • There are so many British, Irish, and Australian actors in hollywood, why do they even bother having Americans try to do accents of them?

  • @LenaDelovely Are you kidding?

  • It's not so bad. He just has a dumb sounding voice no matter what accent.

  • @S2Cents Yes, yes it IS bad...

  • @David8693 He is a master thespian.

  • @S2Cents And not to forget his robotic acting

  • @SuperHeroMania Well look at the clip of Mad TV - The Keanu Reeves School of Acting skit. I don't know if the acting is "robotic"exactly, but it certainly sucks.

  • @S2Cents agreed

  • His accent is so so, but I guess it's better than Mel Gibson in Braveheart. But generally speaking, it wasn't his accent that made me not find him suitable for the role, rather the fact that he just didn't do much with it, and he really doesn't look British AT ALL.

  • WTF accent?

  • Where the fuck did he learn this accent?

  • um its really not that bad. im english and i say budapest that way too. people pronounce stuff different.

  • Lol... poor Keanu

  • I found these by just typing "BYUDAPEST" on Google. For shame, Neo...

  • hahahahahahaha holy shit this is some troll 2 acting level

  • It sounds very high school play-ish. Or maybe something from a video game. Idk I didn't really enjoy this version of dracula with the tit-head.

  • Eeeeeeww

  • I challenge anyone to watch that office scene and honestly tell me that the boss, the folio of documents and the chair to the right don't turn in more compelling performances than Keeves does. He's not so much wooden as being upstaged by the furniture.

  • its not that bad ?

  • To be honest, the most retarded thing in ANY American movie is when actors speak English with foreign accent just to describe better where the story of the movie is set.

I mean, look at Angelina Jolie in "Alexander" with her terrible Greek accent. Cmon, who needs that kind of thing. It just makes movies look stupid.

  • @TMTKowalski Greek? She sounded like she was from Transylvania...

  • @TMTKowalski well....to be serious, all of Alexander was terrible. Jolie's WTF accent paled in comparison to the dive Oliver Stone took with that one.

  • Winona Ryder's was no better, dunno why people forget that.

  • I completely forgot how HORRIBLE that movie was! lol Gary Oldman shouldv'e kicked his agent in the nuts for that.

  • 1:56 ... Masterful work Mr. Reeves. Just beautiful

  • I can't stop laughing. It's the little lift to his lip when he talks, does he think every British person sneers?

  • It's worse than Walberg's acting in the happening.

  • WHAT AN UNDERRATED ACTOR

  • hahahaha beudapest... This is terrible, I have a better accent

  • WTF is this.

  • this is fucking hilarious

  • Why couldn't they just cast Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law or anyone that could actually speak with a genuine brithish accent?

  • if he wasnt in this movie, and it was slightly less pretenious, i know i wouldve loved this flick.

  • At least he's attempting to broaden his range in stuff like this, which is more courageous than anything George Clooney or Brad Pitt has ever attempted; only scripts they choose to participate in is where they find a character who's comfortably easy to play in their extremely limited range. Imagine George Clooney in this, he'd not even attempt a different dialect, and try to look good while saying his lines and have that "sexy smirk" he's so egotistically in love with.

  • @paradigmse7en Brad Pitt tried a few accents in his day too. He was Irish in Devils Own, and...Austrian in Seven Years In tibet. They were both so universally horrible that I think he decided to never try an accent ever again.

  • @tinaUNDAcova Snatch...he had an accent for that movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSpiderDijon right...we were talking about Brad Pitt

  • Comment removed

  • They should have gotten like,Russel Crowe

  • dow in byoodoopest

  • man I loved him in The Matrix and Constantine, just couldn't take him seriously in this movie! lol

  • @JLYoko : I know what you mean. He sucks sometimes, but in some roles, he totally kicks ass.

  • In Keanu's defense he did admit to not doing a good job in this film and has stated it in several interviews.

  • Byyyyudapest?

  • Wow, what the hell LOL

  • The entire film is a raping of the book

  • even if his accent didn't suck this bad, his acting still would cos that dialogue is all awful!

  • LOVE THIS MAN......and his accent is JUST fine.....I lived there, England and he fits right in...count on it<3

  • I love the way people either love him or hate him. Everyone thinks they're objective but nobody really is. I've noticed that men seem to want to rip on him alot whereas women are much more likely to focus on his strong points. Gee, I wonder why. It's interesting.

  • @pipercoventry

I think it has something to do with "Keanu Reeves wearing tighty whities" being in the suggestions column.

  • Really put me off with this movie, the way he seems to shake his head and half-whisper all his lines as if someone had shown him "this is acting, this."

  • apparently the only reason francis ford coppola cast reeves was because he wanted someone young and good looking, rather than someone who knew how to act out the character. coppola actually said this believe it or not.

anyway, it is a good movie apart from the bad accent lol

  • Blimey ! Keanu's phony british accent is toe curling arrgh !!!.I have always wondered why hollywod serves us with lead actors we want to punch in the face.

I didn't know he was supposed to be good looking, I think I can tell if a bloke is "handsome" neither him nor Brad pet are "good looking".

  • @cannoir: Okay, so he's not a great actor but why do you hate him? Why do you babble on and on about an actor you don't care for? It sounds like you want to throw him off the planet. You're expending an awful lot of negative energy on some movie star. What gives? He's a person. And yes, when he was young, he was one of the most adorable guys on the planet. He's old now, like 47 or something. But when he was cute, he was very, very cute. Anyway, ease up on the anger. It's not healthy.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 - If that's true then Coppola's a piece of shit. I've seen interviews with him and he's a bloated jackass who's full of himself. Some people handle fame better than others.

  • I.m from Romania it.s fun to hear him name the regions in my country. And with the accent he was trying too hard ...he was only in the beggining but I like him so much for being hardworker perseverent a kind soul and oh who could resist that face..:)

  • I never liked Keanu Reeves, but seriously, how could he manage such a bad accent? Even I could do much better than him.

  • He couldn't be bothered, you do know that he's one of those actors people do not approach cos they are afraid they'll lose their job. They just let him deliver his lines and the rest will be fixed in post. This dude is as bland as tartar sauce on a filet-o-fish

  • Comment removed

  • @cannoir That explains why he is so overrated. He has been nominated for razzie awards for a lot of his movies and yet he is listed among 501 greatest movie stars in one book. I bet he might have had similar selfish influence on the media.

  • @11strelokfan1000: I think there's a difference between being a great actor and being a great movie star. He's not a a great actor but he does have a quality to him that people want to watch. I've been watching Bill & Ted since I was a child and can't imagine anyone else playing Ted Logan, or Constantine or Neo. I don't think he's at all overrated. I think he's made alot of his movies better by being in them. My sister want to give birth to his triplets but that's another story.

  • @leozavoranu I see what you mean, but I don't think a person deserves stardom without being good at their job. If he isn't good, then fine, maybe he wasn't really built for an English role. But if he gets such fame and likeness just because of his roles, then he isn't getting acclaim for his own abilities but simply because he was 'in that role'. I myself could not think of a better looking actor as Neo, but I seriously cannot believe he gets so much fame when he isn't even good at his career.

  • @11strelokfan1000 - Finally, a rational person. I think he is very good at his job. He's not a great actor but he is a great movie star and that's what the general public is looking for when they buy tickets. What happened to Ray Liotta, Val Kilmer, Andrew McCarthy? They were good actors. Where are they? Reeves is still on top to this very day because he busts his ass. I respect him for that. He's not a great actor, but he's a kick ass movie star. And that is the business he is in.

  • @cannoir: Good lord, what is your problem? Are you always this nasty and judgemental? When you become so successful at your career to where you can give 50 million dollars to charity, then you can talk about his abilities. He has a tremendous presence about him and the fact that you see him as "bland" tells me something about you. If you can't see what others see, that's your limitation. Keanu's awesome, he's just not an awesome actor. It's incredibly sad that this bugs you so much.

  • El acento en Keanu es lo de menos, lo importante es que se ve sabroso.

  • I guess Gary Oldman couldn't restrain his laughter at Keanu's acting either.

  • If I were Gary Oldman I wouldn't be able to withhold my laughter at that terrible scream at the end there...

  • 0:56 Byudapest!

  • This is Directed by Francis ford Coppola everyone.

Further proof that even the greatest of all time is still susceptible to sudden lapse of judgement.

  • He is actually shocking.

What the hell is so hard about an English accent?

And since when do we pronounce what like "Hu-whut"?!!?

    Gaaaah.

    lmfao.

    shocking.

    fail.

    LOL.

They could have hired.. Possibly.. An ENGLISH actor?

I mean.. Englands quite big tbh.

  • ive heard worse.and also the movie is set bakc in the days people sounded like well taught robots

  • lmfao he sounds like he's purposefully trying to take the piss out of our accent XD

  • @SaracottaPie He really does! lol

  • He ruins it by line two.

  • Like, woah.

  • I think Keanu Reeves is simply misunderstood...

  • Right on chaps, let's leave tyoo byoodoopest.

  • @brixton92 no,he simply has no talent :P

  • @AngelosL spoken like a true non-believer of Keanuism

  • @brixton92 I just spoke as a movie fan.i think Keanuism has less to do with his talent and more with his looks ;P

  • @AngelosL As a practicing Keanuist, I am offended.

  • sounds like he's trying waaaaaay too hard lol :p

  • @SheepNorway : Okay so we've established the fact that he tries. He's not a naturally gifted actor. But he does try. He must have something going for him to get him to where he is today. I don't know if it's some sort of magnetism or some indescribable appeal, but it's got to be something. It's not his looks, because there a million young good looking guys in Hollywood at any given time trying to become big stars. Why did he make it?

  • @zoeyjusko umm you better look at my comment...when i said he tried to hard..i mean he tries to hard to do the british accent....i don't mind keanu reeves acting...in street kings he does a decent job...in matrix he does a decent job....he has gotten better the last years...but the way you answered me, it seem you misunderstood my statement...

  • @SheepNorway : Okay, okay I'm sorry. I was watching Keanu videos that day and got sick and tired of people ripping on him. So I got defensive. You're right I misunderstood your statement. I apologize for that. I haven't seen Street Kings. Is it any good?

  • @zoeyjusko umm guess so...it's absolutely above average :)

  • @SheepNorway : Okay well, maybe I'll head on over to PirateBay and check it out. Ooops, I mean the video store.

  • Look to clarify, every accent has a rythm of speech which is hard to learn, keanu has 80% of the words right but he is using an american rythm to put them together giving him a stilted sound. In english accent terms a Scouser will say "its over there so no he couldn't" with a sound of more sylables and drawn out, but an East Yorkshire/Hull accent is faster and less sylables.

  • i dont get what the problem is? he's leaving buedopest, in the e-yist of the cuntray

  • He was putting on an accent??? Never noticed it.

  • He sounds like he's back in Bill & Ted, but only this time, he's constipated.

  • this looks like a shitty movie period, let alone the accent.

  • Byudapest

  • yeah; freakishly bad.

  • What the fuck was that?

  • 2:03- even Dracula is like "LOLOLOLOLOL WTF"

  • It's not that bad. Seems like most of you are on a bandwagon.

  • Oh and it's more of the tone that's wrong, he's trying too hard to sound posh. The pronunciation is fine.

  • ummmm.......this movie sucks. Hire an no name british guy would be better.

  • even i can make a british accent and im latino

  • 1:37 Even Dracula's shadow hates that accent!

  • Technically Reeves is Canadian but whatever the accent is terrible and laughable.

For such a high budget movie you'd think someone would have hired him a fucking dialogue coach.

  • @18CaStRaDoMiS89 Keanu Reeves is from Lebanon.

  • @18CaStRaDoMiS89 They did, but after a couple hours of coaching Keanu the poor sod hung himself. They buried him beside Dick Van Dyke's coach.

  • It's difficult to believe that he is even attempting to speak in a British accent...

"Yes, of course, sir. If I may inquire..." awful awful stuff...

  • I think Gary Oldman is the most underrated actor of all times... he is PURE WIN in just about every movie he's in

  • ROFL must watch this again

  • Keanu was miscast in this movie.Tim Roth would've been good..Keanu is a terrible actor. Not just in this movie, but in every one..

  • And this is the guy who wants to play Cowboy Bebop's Spike Spiegel in a live action movie.

    *groans*

  • @SmapAttack People used to say that he would make the best Dante from Devil May Cry(probably because of his "good" looks. Now I'm not so sure. I'm not really a Keanu fan, but I used to like him in a few movies. Now I can't imagine him playing that role of Spike Spiegel or Dante.

  • one word: "Biudapest"! :))

  • I guess Dracula's shadow could not stand Keanu's accent either :)

  • This movie sucked balls.

  • Oh..God that accent stinks.

I didn't even notice he wasn't speaking with an American accent until I checked twice. It's painful.

  • @2007TypeR America gave us Jesus Christ?

  • Keanu Reeves ALMOST RUINED this movie...Thank Gary Oldman this did not happen...

  • The movies utter nonsense. The Count never came to England to pursue Mina, I don't know where the producers got that idea from. Anyone that knows anything of Dracula will tell you that he came to England to invade it, to make up for his failure of invading Turkey land when known as Prince Vlad.

  • Byyyyyyudapest.

  • not just a bad accent, but terible acting too

  • Hahahaha I realised he was attempting his British accent after reading the description, burn Keanu, burn.

  • ^ same with Winona Ryder. just awful.....

  • how can an actor be so shitty at learning accent?

  • Heat had al pacino and robert di niro together on screen. dracula had keanu reeves and winona ryder....

  • not too bad...

  • 25th may. beyudapest. where the fuck is that?

  • @thenutsisgood Hahaha... funny YouTube comment, there.

  • @thenutsisgood Hahaha... funny YouTube comment, there.

  • This and Mary Sheeley's Frnakenstein prove that even if they assemble a cast littered with big names it doens't always prove they'll give a great performance. They try but some can't seem to get it right at times (Reeves being one of them) Visually their great and follow the story a bit better (though still taking liberties) and their still pretty good, but there are silly parts and actors. Reeves was a terrible choice for Harker.

  • Count Dracula looks-like KLAUS NOMI , or a Typical Resident of West Hollywood CA.

  • The problem here really isn't pronouncation, but Reeves' very robot-like intonation, which is what really makes it sound so wrong. It seems like he did his homework when it comes to pronouncing the individual words correctly, but that he maybe failed to realise that you also need to adapt the tone of your voice when using another accent or dialect.

His pronouncation is okay, though, including "Bjudapest". You sometimes can get a "j" sound in front of the "u". It is old-fashioned, but not wrong.

  • It sounds like a bad anime actor. That being said, there are some terrible american accents from british actors.

  • @mustrapefoley

I agree but the English nail the American accent more often than not.

The Wire is a good example.

We can do your accent better simply because we have to put up with so much American shit on TV and on the radio

  • @Sherlock51 lol

  • BYUDAPEST?!

  • Like fingernails down a blackboard...
