  • If I were Penny, I would have rewritten the end of this movie, Josh Whedon or no Josh Whedon. I LOVE YOU BILLY/DR. HORRIBLE/ NIEL PATRICK HARRIS!!!!! <3

  • Anyone knows where can I buy a new replay button

(I know this joke is old but I LOVE THIS SONG!!)

  • patricks vibrato just takes me back to this video time after time!

  • Can someone explain this....um...movie/show to me? It looks really interseting and I love the music but I have no idea what it's about, I've never seen it before.

  • @1darlin1angel1 It's really good :D The main character (Billy AKA Dr.Horrible) is trying to get into the Evil legue of Evil (I do belive thats what its called...) Anywho, He also wants to win penny's heart. Last time I checked you could watch it on YouTube, Type in " Dr.Horrible's Sing-along Blog: Act 1, Part 1 " There are three Act's, two parts to each act. (Exept for act three that had three parts to it XD) Sorry for being vague diddn't want to ruin anything :3

  • @1darlin1angel1 This show is heaven in musical form. It originally was a movie that the director, Joss Whedon didnt want to go through the movie process with so he put it up on the internet instead. It became a hit web series that was very popular for quite a long time. It is a three part musical story that you can get on Netflix or watch on the internet. However, I recommend using Netflix to watch it. You must watch it because it is the most amazing thing you will ever see. Its hilarious. watch

  • Evil isn't the only thing on the rise when I see him. <3

  • 1:57 Guy in the background...

  • @CoconPL NOPE.

  • Awesome song, I so have a crush on billy :) btw arguments on the internet are petty and stupid- if you could see each other in person you wouldn't be arguing (deindividualisation), but because you're anonymous people just argue away.. cheers derren brown. Now can we stop arguing and appreciate this amazing film

  • best song from this ! geniously crafted

  • AWWW NEIL PATRICK HARRIS IS SO CUUUTE!!! He can really sing!

  • I can't get his final harmony right!! When they split screen, him and penny. :(

  • Good in everybodies heart? I'm with Dr. Horrible on this one.

  • @madlibsluver Eh, some people just like to be dicks.

Doesn't mean good people can't do bad things and bad people can't do good things.

  • @TerraceArchimedes A philosopher named Hobbes stated that everyone is born evil. However, society teaches them to be non-evil so that they can survive. Yet, some learn that being evil is still acceptable (bullying) and so they continue.

  • @madlibsluver It's still a choice between being non-evil (what teaches them to be 'good' then or is that what non-evil means?) and being evil.

A choice between listening to society/survival instincts or not.

Note that not all societies are good, some are self-destructive, some lie to the people and it ends up with mutual liars shaking hands and planning assassination.

Unless you're a relativist in the sense that morality is relativistic or you believe it's about struggle/survival?

  • @TerraceArchimedes True, but ones choices may be affected by their natural instincts. You are correct in assuming, by the way, that non-evil means good. The basis of my argument is chiefly when we are all little. Almost everyone is bullied when they are young by peers of their same age, however, most of the time this behavior deceases as people learn that it is no longer acceptable. Yet, the fact that this is their first instinct is, I feel, proof of Hobbes' theory.

  • @madlibsluver But what would make them bully others then?

I think it is out of confusion, and of cowardice at most times. While society may show them how to deal with it in other ways (love, understanding, tolerance) not all people respond to it in the same way. Not every child is a bully. It's all about leaning to the logical side rather than the stupid side.

Besides - when humanity first built Empires and Nations what made them see fit to establish a difference between right and wrong?

  • @TerraceArchimedes

You have the ball I want. I'm going to take it from you *hits*. This kid is different, I'll emberis(sp) him in front of everyone and make myself seem cool. I think every child has been a bully at some point of their early life. I know I was (even though I was usually the victim). Overtime, however, a hireachy is instated and some bully more than others.

Ran out of room. Doing another post, it won't appear in your feed though.

  • @madlibsluver Why is it everyone has to bully in that hierarchy?

Looks like everyone in it would be evil except for the saddest person at the bottom :(

  • @TerraceArchimedes As for the days of Empires and early times, people quickly learned that if you don't conquer the place next to you, they might be willing to help you. Eventually you have several allies based on the fact that you have something to gain and you have learned earlier that it costs a lot of resources to go killing willy-nilly. Eventually nations are born but the very first thing they do when they have a difference? War. Paraphrase: War drums can be heard throughout man's history.

  • @madlibsluver Everyone's all trying to find a beneficial system - There are, apparently, notions common to all cultures (this is based off of Five Moral Pieces by Umberto Eco, the essay 'When the other comes onto the scene').

Survival is one of them, so people had to have a sense of right and wrong to that to figure that out. That's the nature of things, and that didn't come from society.

Rather, society sprung up from our need to make an order out of things.

    Another post....s

  • @madlibsluver Those seem like rather selfish reasons to reach out to people....

I hope that today, if we encountered aliens, our natural instincts - good or evil? - we would do the same, but so we could build a civilization rather than come out and win in a struggle, so that we could have peace rather than mutual ignorance (It'd be like a poker game where the existence of others is noted but not given much importance).

Why would humans learn altruism based on selfishness?

  • @TerraceArchimedes If we encounterd aliens, it would be the governments job. If they found them to be weaker, they would exploit them. If they were the same strength we would form an allience and share technology. If they were superior, we would build up our militaries and "strike first.'

Humans would learn alturism through selfishness because if you kill someone they stop giving you the things you want. If they like you, they will give you really good stuff. Look at early civilizations.

  • @madlibsluver Hmm....

Altruism learnt through selfishness = selfishness. Not the same thing.

I'd like to believe they did this out of sincerity (being the ideal bastard that I am).

All of it looks like grandstanding to me.

  • @TerraceArchimedes Let me further explain my theory: Once they see a pattern, they teach it down to the younger generations and people then start to fully adopt being nice as their behavior. Yet, being nice, lending a helping hand and sticking up for someone is a learned behavior that was probably learned originally with the goal of gaining something.

  • @madlibsluver Originally? Has it changed?

I think Jesus made sense - forgive everyone, but stop them if they do it so much it becomes negligible and hurts society, as I imagine the liberal's job is.

Some Christians don't understand that though...

    Unless you have another idea?

  • @TerraceArchimedes Well yes, we should strive to forgive. Yet, it is against our nature which is why it took the son of God to tell us.

And the original thingy, not really. Like I said, most people are born evil and are bullies or are bullied before they themselves can become one. However, over time, they fully adopt the "nice" behavior as their own as they relise that being mean and evil does not get them anywhere in this socieity.

  • @madlibsluver Hmm....

Thanks for telling me this. Although I'm undecided I think this seems wise.

    Goodbye....

  • @TerraceArchimedes Okay then. Since you seem to believe as I do, goodbye and God Bless. May I also say that I appreciate the civility of this debate.

    Pleasure speaking to you.

  • @madlibsluver Not everything on the internet has to be a flame war.

Then again, winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics - even if you win you're still retarded (thank God I can safely tell people this is a 'debate').

Thank you for this trade of philosophy. Good luck.

  • @TerraceArchimedes dude, that's a really distasteful comment.

  • @biaclips Which one? The one about the internet and being retarded.

How come the picture with captions can get away with it and I can't?

  • The way Neil sings "I cannot believe my eyes..." ... D'AW. D;

  • THIS IS MY FAVE DR HORRIBLE SONG

when he says "its plain to see" its amazing

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Uh... fuh... cuh... wuh... you are too dumb to comprehend... there are soooooo many things wrong with that sentence... the first of which is that anyone on this earth could ever like that twilight bull crap over literally ANY of Neil Patrick Harris' works.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Go Team Jacob? Finish your education and get back to us in a few years please. Until then, try not to watch anything with actual content or you might ruin your taste for it later on.

Also: Caps is cruise control for cool----> False.

  • How can you not fall in love with this girl?

  • captain hammer is a fucking tool

  • @Gamewalkthroughz3333 BAHAHAHAHA

  • @Gamewalkthroughz3333 Hahahaha Great play on words and soooooo true!

  • id go gay for Neil Patrick Harris

  • this and the Buffy musical episode "Once More With Feeling" = Joss Whedon's best.

  • Valerie2776, You wonderful person you. I didn't know you liked Dr. Horrible!

  • no one is stupider then the people commenting on youtube

  • i wonder... who would choose me over a hero? think about it... if you were the hero, would you have better chances with who you like/love than who you are today? if you were the villain would your chances be worse? I often see myself as more likely to be a villain, and i really doubt anyone would love me as a villain... even as a villain as amazing as Dr. Horrible...

  • I would go gay for Neil Patrick Harris.

  • Any dolt with half a brain would know the hammer is his penis.

  • 1:51 Dr. Horrible in the background ;)

  • If only Billy had suited up... He totally would have gotten the girl!

  • @tazpwrs Touche ;) hahaha

  • Any dolt with half a brain....would never NOT choose Neil Patrick Harris....

  • I surprised the top comment isn't: OMG NEIL PATRICK HARRIS IS ANGRILY POURING SOUP IN THE BACKGROUND AT THE SHELTER!!!

  • @lolpirates003 wanna thumbs up for that?

  • @lolpirates003 Neil Patrick Harris is angrily pouring soup. Taken out of context, that statement is fucking hilarious. xD

  • @lolpirates003 I just realized it lol

  • @lolpirates003 Well now its is.

  • @lolpirates003 AND MISSING

  • this song is amazing... when i watched it i did a duet with my brother. he did billy's part and i did penny's.

  • @MrAndyaz This is from a musical. He is a super hero.

  • I hope dr horrible 2 has a song just like this!

  • @1998mpp THERE'S A TWO COMING OUT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @GynnyHearts Yes it is coming out in a year

  • 1:52 - Dr. Horrible is evilly pouring soup :)

  • NPH does the creep.

    It's mal reynolds. lol

  • this is my favorite song in the whole short :)

  • Oh my god.

So, after not watching this movie for like a year. I come to look at this video, and just notice Dr. Horrible in the background of the homeless shelter scene.

    I shit bricks.

  • @EllistheScout1015

yeah, the homeless guy distracts the fact that dr. horrible switches places with the original soup guy

  • how i met your mother and the guild ruined this for me^^

  • @genitur I wouldn't know how.

The guild is one of Felicia Day's best works.

And NPH is fine I suppose in How I met Your Mother.

  • Neil Patrick Harris is genius!

  • is it weird that this is my feel good song?

  • i loovvveee this song :) best in the movie

  • 1:20...I have that same candle XD

  • I love at the very end, how his dead falls back into the wall in defeat right as the song ends, they really did make the best musical ever here.

  • @lolcatsman1337 try impossible

  • His expression at the beginning, just staring at the camera, knowing that he lost the chance to achieve her... It feels like your heart is bleeding... That made me feel pain, I had tears in my eyes...

    .

    .

    "Listen close to everybody’s heart

    And hear that breaking sound

Hopes and dreams are shattering apart

    And crashing to the ground..."

  • @Lynnnndaful yeah :(

I bet all of us have felt that at some point in our lives..it sucks :|

  • Dr. Horrible is awesome!

  • i don't think Captain Hammer likes the ducks... :) i hope they eat him :>

  • ohhh, i love how he sounds when he sings, 'sound' i love how he sings in general :)

  • Hmm, should I be worried if I find that dr. horrible's lyrics in this song put word to my thoughts about this world?

  • @DarkTider Well I think it might be a bit poetic and not analysed that well, but the worlds a mess pretty much. Its also why I liked this film so much, not only because I hated NPH before, but also because it has such interesting aspect of telling the story of a villain that only becomes a real villain because the "good guy" is such a bigotted asshole. I think thats pretty much it - people who reflect on this world and try to rebel often become real assholes themselves because the rulers are.

  • Haha I effin love this song! It's sooooooo amazing! I really wish I was penny cuz I just luv Neil Patrick Harris!

  • best song in the whole movie, by far.

  • Neil does well as a homeless shelter volunteer. (1:55)

  • Can somebody please explain the legen dary thing to me?

  • @geckoladyemma Neil Patrick Harris- the actor who plays Dr. Horrible in this, also plays Barney in a show called How I Met Your Mother. One of Barney's catchphrases is that when things are awesome, he calls them "Legen- wait for it!" *Pause* "Dary!"

  • Bahaha! I wondered why that guy was ladling it back into the pot. Stalker alert!

  • Oh, poor Billy

  • Its hard not to have a man crush on Neil Patrick Harris

  • @Lolcatsman1337 AGREED.

  • Nobody in their right mind could dislike this song. It's amazing.

  • @serenityy87 2 people are clearly not in their right mind.

  • Barney??? You singing?!?

    This is legen-dary!

  • He's so handsome. And she's so beautiful. And the other one's so sexy. Love them all :-)

  • I noticed him the first time I saw this. I love his stalker picture of Penny through the trees

  • @darkroselight wel... Nathon Fillion is a sexy bastard lol

  • How could any woman pick another over Neil Patrick Harris?

  • @darkroselight Neil Patrick Harris is gay...That might be why.

  • @SpencerDickensheets Tru dat. :3

  • @darkroselight Mabey because he's gay?

  • @ontop512 That's true..But that doesn't stop me from lovin' him.

  • Comment removed

  • @darkroselight um maybe cause it's Nathan Fillon?

  • @darkroselight because he's gay. literally.

  • @darkroselight

    Because he's a homosexual

  • Comment removed

  • @darkroselight This is Nathan Fillion we're talking about.

  • @darkroselight

    1) He's gay (quite literally homosexual)

    2) Nathan Fillion is way better (Space Cowboy FTW - ie. Cpt. Mal Reynolds)

  • @darkroselight maybe because hes got a boyfriend

  • @darkroselight because hes gay

  • @darkroselight Nathan Fillion.

  • @darkroselight because NPH is gay... -_-

  • @darkroselight well for one thing he's gay so a woman wouldnt get anything lol

  • @darkroselight She musta gotten hit in the head with the hammer.

    -///- Fluttershy for President -\\\-

  • @darkroselight cuz he is gay and taken???

  • @darkroselight Because despite how much of a jerk his character is, Nathan Fillion is Awesome too and straight...I think?

  • @Kumajirou13 Damn skippy Nathan Fillion is awesome and hot. Though moreso as a space-cowboy. Neil Patrick Harris is hot in character, out of it he doesn't swing my direction.

  • @agirladrift

yeah thats because its billy/dr horrible and he's too busy stalking penny to notice haha

  • @GottaLavManga omg it totally is I didn't even notice that and I've seen this like 4 times. lol

  • Good god he's sexy. Even better that he can sing! I love this song it's the best in the movie

  • My second fav song <3 I like Laundry Day ;D

  • Did anyone notice that the man pouring soup in the background just takes the bowl and pours the soup from the ladle back into the pot? xD

  • one person accidentally clicked "dislike" lol

  • Loveee the mustache on neil

  • this song is so epic

  • Just preordered the companion book :-)

  • WOW!! I DID THIS SONG FOR MUSIC!

    This song is awsm :P

  • 1:47 in the background... Can't believe I've never noticed that

  • Am I the only one that thinks Neil/Billy looked hot between 2:34 and 2:37 ??3

  • @rissaroo312

Neil Patrick Harris ALWAYS looks hot. pfft.

  • @samthornton Quite right

  • @samthornton I Agree And I Say SEXYFIED!

  • @samthornton Lol yea I agree I freaking love him he is amazing to bad he is gay :( I love him! <3

  • At 1:45, when the homeless guy comes to Hammer, the guy who pours the soup changes shifts. And guess who's next

  • This song is essentially a microcosm of the entire film: sad, funny, somewhat profound, and all around genius.

  • This song is pure genius.

  • Definately one of my top 3 fave songs from Dr Horrible. They did a great job w/this :)

  • NIEL PATRICK HARRIS!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 2:00 I never noticed before but Buddy is standing in the background here

  • Felicia Day is HOT!

  • lol neil patrick harris is in the backround pouring soup at 1:46 in the song lol :-)

  • love, love, love this show

  • Captain Hammer dislikes this.

  • Wait wait wait Waaiiiiiit... is this Billy with a Fake Mustache at 1:50 ?

Thats the first time i actually notice that...

  • @ReggaeSEKFan I just noticed that too, the last time I saw this! XD

  • @ReggaeSEKFan yup, and watch what he's doing....because he's "evil" he doesn't acutally pour the soup :)

  • Best-duel-ever.

  • Wow...this song captures how it feels to have the person you like tell you how wonderful the person is that they like. It eats on the inside. The harmony parts convey this perfectly.

  • @Russischespionin Second.

  • @Russischespionin IMO it's more of an intellectual / emotional contrasty thing
