This is such a wonderful video to have up for other people to see, I have a four year old daughter who needs hearing aids and is getting them on Tuesday, myself and my husband were upset for her and for what she was missing out on, but when I came across this video it made me cry but also made me feel better, now I can't wait for my daughter to get her hearing aids and to listen what she has been missing out on! I remeber when I got my first hearing aids when I was 4! I had them for 8 -9 years now! Very cute video. My hearing aids help me alot in school. I recently got little charms (earring like jewelry) from the internet to put on my hearing aid and it looks like I have earrings, nice video again!

My first hearing aid was when I was 2 years old in 1972 with the body worn aid....since 1978, I now wear the behind the ear aids....my hearing aids have helped me so much for years. :) This little girl in the video is so cute! I am happy she likes her hearing aids and can hear sounds with them. :)

i suffer from a ruptured ear drum and used to suffer from chronic ear infections. i most likely wont be able to have surgery on my ear since it has gotten worse over the years. i found out that i had a ruptured ear drum when i was 16 (22 now) so over those years it has gotten a little worse.

i have a mild hearing loss in my right ear. but im thinkin sooner or later it may be time 4 me 2 get a hearing aid =[

Oh god that brings back memories. When I was a child of 6 and I got my 1st Hearing aid...heard a baby crying the typewritters going off. I still remember my eyes popping out like a frog LOL. Oh how beautiful it was to hear!

My 5 yr old daughter just got her first aides this year and its really been a miracle for her. She has mild to mod loss in both ears adn mainly wears them for school but recently weve started having her wear them at home more. I remember her reaction this first time she heard "normal" sounds that others take for granted. She had never heard our car running, our refridgerator or birds outside! We have the "nude" colored ones, they arent as noticable. Ins wouldnt cover them but a local org. did

When I was a small child. First time new hearing aids (old fashion hearing aids) And then I was learned to speech speaking.

But I was grew up about late 1980's... One right ear hearing aid dropped off because I can't hear right ear with hearing aid (Sound like as buzzing and too much bother me some people can hear feedback (beeep!!) my right hearing aid. ) I gave it up! But only keep one left hearing aid because I want to hear any sound and music.

I start wearing hearing aid when I was 3 (born deaf). It was old box type (size of playing card). O Yet, that was when I was born in 1946. Also I was picture in LIFE mag (don't remeber what date between 1949 to 1951, sorry). Last box I used was in the 80. Now I use BTE since 80. I never when to special school, just regular school with all normal kids. Now I have three kids and four grandkids. What a life.

If you don't want to wear your aids, you shouldn't have to. There is a whole community of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals who choose not to wear aids or talk or listen at all. It is your body and you should be given the choice. Speak to your parents and discuss your feelings about your aids and perhaps look at learning ASL to better communicate.
