This is such a wonderful video to have up for other people to see, I have a four year old daughter who needs hearing aids and is getting them on Tuesday, myself and my husband were upset for her and for what she was missing out on, but when I came across this video it made me cry but also made me feel better, now I can't wait for my daughter to get her hearing aids and to listen what she has been missing out on! This would be a great video to show other parents who have children with hearing lo
Such a sweet girl! What an example of what we who can hear and who have children who can hear take advantage of every day. Congratulations on your new hearing aids sweet-girl!
When I got mine (13) I was sitting in the room and when the woman turned it on and suddenly I heard a ticking noise and didnt know what it was, turns out it was the clock!
I don't remember wearing my first hearing aid reaction, but i could imagine it after watching this, except i didn't talk, i didn't know how to. lol :)
I remeber when I got my first hearing aids when I was 4! I had them for 8 -9 years now! Very cute video. My hearing aids help me alot in school. I recently got little charms (earring like jewelry) from the internet to put on my hearing aid and it looks like I have earrings, nice video again!
Little cutie, she looks so much like my little daughter. How deaf is she? My little girl doesn't talk anything like this much, we hope she will start to say more when her hearing aid arrives.
this brings back memories.. i was born 80% deaf from birth defect.. when i was fitted with my first aids it was like a whole new world out there... =)
My first hearing aid was when I was 2 years old in 1972 with the body worn aid....since 1978, I now wear the behind the ear aids....my hearing aids have helped me so much for years. :) This little girl in the video is so cute! I am happy she likes her hearing aids and can hear sounds with them. :)
i suffer from a ruptured ear drum and used to suffer from chronic ear infections. i most likely wont be able to have surgery on my ear since it has gotten worse over the years. i found out that i had a ruptured ear drum when i was 16 (22 now) so over those years it has gotten a little worse.
i have a mild hearing loss in my right ear. but im thinkin sooner or later it may be time 4 me 2 get a hearing aid =[
Thanks for sharing!! My 7 year old son is getting his first set of hearing aids this month. We used this video to show him a picture of the BTE and the ear mold. We're letting him pick out the colors.
Oh god that brings back memories. When I was a child of 6 and I got my 1st Hearing aid...heard a baby crying the typewritters going off. I still remember my eyes popping out like a frog LOL. Oh how beautiful it was to hear!
My 5 yr old daughter just got her first aides this year and its really been a miracle for her. She has mild to mod loss in both ears adn mainly wears them for school but recently weve started having her wear them at home more. I remember her reaction this first time she heard "normal" sounds that others take for granted. She had never heard our car running, our refridgerator or birds outside! We have the "nude" colored ones, they arent as noticable. Ins wouldnt cover them but a local org. did
When I was a small child. First time new hearing aids (old fashion hearing aids) And then I was learned to speech speaking.
But I was grew up about late 1980's... One right ear hearing aid dropped off because I can't hear right ear with hearing aid (Sound like as buzzing and too much bother me some people can hear feedback (beeep!!) my right hearing aid. ) I gave it up! But only keep one left hearing aid because I want to hear any sound and music.
i got my first hearing aid wen i was 4 then eventually got 2 in short time, i hated them as i grew up i always wanted the plain beige colours not sure whyy probs cos they wudnt stand out now if i wear them id feel like a loser i jus dont hav the confidencee to wear them x
hi my name is evan and 3 years ago i was at a skatepark cuz i am a bmx biker and i did a front flip in the air and i lost control and
hit my head got a concusion and went profonially deaf cuz the nerve in my ear got dead and now i still bmx and i broke i of my hearing aids and i cost $1700 to repalce!!
I start wearing hearing aid when I was 3 (born deaf). It was old box type (size of playing card). O Yet, that was when I was born in 1946. Also I was picture in LIFE mag (don't remeber what date between 1949 to 1951, sorry). Last box I used was in the 80. Now I use BTE since 80. I never when to special school, just regular school with all normal kids. Now I have three kids and four grandkids. What a life.
I had my first hearing aids when I was 3 or 4. I think 5. I don't remember but yea. The point is that when I wore them, THEY....WERE...AWSOME!!!!! I could hear stuff!!!!! LOL
Wahhh I love her face when it's first turned on! That little girl is so cute! I can't wait to do that one day - I'm hard of hearing and studying Audiology and sooo can't wait to do that with my future patients!
Honestly this video touched me so much to see her so thrilled to have a better chance to hear things in a different way. Reminding me of myself. My parent didnt know i was hard of hearing till i was three, but to see her expression really does bring back memories
I interpret in the school system and when I see small children excited about being able to hear it excites me anew. I'm glad I decided to become an interpreter.
I'm going to school in Seattle for interpreting and my aunt is Deaf. I'm really excited and hope that everything will work out! I have the skill, I just need help honing it! :] This girl is precious!
I'm 19, born hard of hearing. I don't know my moments when I got my hearing aids and was able to hear, well actually I was 2.5, couldnt react to too much but maybe cry all day, but this is actually very touching, and im starting to feel connectioned alot.
I got hearing aids when i was in kindergarden im now in 7th grade im suppose to wear them everyday but i hate them and i dont like wearing them and i no i sohuld but dont and yea
If you don't want to wear your aids, you shouldn't have to. There is a whole community of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals who choose not to wear aids or talk or listen at all. It is your body and you should be given the choice. Speak to your parents and discuss your feelings about your aids and perhaps look at learning ASL to better communicate.
She is so cute. I just started losing my hearing and I am waiting to get my hearing aids next week. Looking forward to hearing the world again. Thanks
Oh, that's just beautiful. Emily is simply adorable. Thank you for sharing this uplifting movie. My daughter is also called Emily and is also deaf. She had her hearing aids fitted when she was just a year old so she's never known life without them.
