Hey guys, pro tip:

If you've finished the House of Horrors Quest in Markarth, you will have gotten the Mace of Molag Bal. If you kill someone with that mace you automatically trap their soul, so that combined with the Black Star is a very good combo.

@ccopland96 the azura's star can only capture animal souls but the black star can capture both and humans have better souls than animals ;)

The Black Star can capture any type of soul, this is a bug. Read the Wiki for proof... The Black Star > Azura's Star.

You have to return the star to Aranea if you want her as a follower. If you take it to Nelacar you get the black version which is great but you miss out on a bad ass mage companion.

the star is a daedric artifact which you need to get in order to get the trophy or acheivement 'oblivion walker' and im not sure if only the azura or white star is the daedric artifact or wether the back one is aswell please help!

@HuntedFrog Lol why the hell did you do that? I think you are going to have to change it to the white version. Kill mammoths and such to get the big souls. Check the skyrim wiki for a list of souls and their values.

@ccopland96 The black star can only hold black souls (like humans) and azura's star can only hold white souls (animals). Both are refillable, but the black version seems easier to use imo.

@ccopland96 Black star can be filled with human souls and all human souls are greater souls,its the best choose the black one,oh and the white one uses animal souls wolfs rabbits mammoths,but only certin animals like mammoths as worm said have greater souls,so if u find a bandit and use soultrap on him,that a easy grand soul gem in there,so obviously choose black star,as bandits and any human are weaker than mammoths (not any human just most).

To anyone having trouble with the boulder blocking their way after clearing the dungeon, this is a glitch. It can be resolved by leaving the dungeon and entering again and the boulder should disappear.
