  • Deen Castronovo should be lead vocals for Journey .

  • GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYERS

  • ...that's because Arnel can't hit these notes. Only Deen and Steve can do it.

  • @vegastyphoon It is funny that the drummer has to play and sing this at the same time because their lead singer can't sing it. That is so ironic!

  • He does a good job, he's not Steve, but then again no one can sing it like him.

  • No one can ever close to Steve Perry when he performed this one! Live in Houston! Steve Perry is one of a kind and can't be replaced!

  • The first time i saw him was on the 2001 (or 2000) Live DVD in Las Vegas. He absolutely blew me away with his voice and skill behind the kit. Deeno is a monster behind the drums and an absolutely incredible. You won't find a better combination.

  • A picture show w music. Love it. Thats what UTUBE is all about. Who wants to see video when you can have this? Killer vocals, by the way,Deen.

  • very handsome. God blessed him with that talent . When he really puts his heart completly in it he definetly does his best. Good job guy!

  • castronovo sux, fucking punk

  • @andunusblick surely you are kidding. Right?

  • Steve Perry can never be replaced, but as they say imitation is the best form of flattery. No other artist singing for Journey has the same effortlessness to their voice as Steve did, I mean watch Live in Houston '81 and watch the performance of Mother Father there, it sends shivers down your spine, probably one of the best live performances of all time ever! not to take anything away from Deen here, just saying.

  • wow a lot of haters of Arnel hahaha.. just cause he didn't sing one song.. everyone immediately thinks he can't handle it LOL! It's a band.. if Deen sang this song after Perry left then why do you need to fix it? it sounds great to begin with.. better than Perry in my opinion! Even played the drums!!! Let Arnel have a vocal break shesh people!

  • @MRdeucin Better than Perry? Really. Is that why near the end of Mother Father, Perry's vocals are always dubbed in? None of the singers, including Deen can sing it with as much passion and expertise as Perry. Watch the live clips with Deen. Deen's good, but doesn't touch Perry's vocals. And if you watch Deen near the end, he never does the ending vocals, yet we always hear vocals. Whose vocals do you suppose we are hearing?

  • @punkchickkool Perry dominates majority of the songs over Arnel/Deen... but certain songs Arnel/Deen just kills it over Perry.. On a good day Deen can sing better than Perry in this song and Still they ride.. as a heavy smoker.. your vocals/lungs gives out after a few songs.. maybe he needs to invest on an electronic cig =)

  • @MRdeucin Good singing isn't about belting out and screaming high notes. It's hitting the notes with good tone, quality and resonance, maintaining it throughout. Deen can sing, however, not nearly with the same quality, resonance and staying power in full voice as Perry did. Which is why Perry's vocals have been dubbed in. I just don't see how anyone can say Arnel & Deen can outsing Perry on some songs. Listening to Deen on this song is not pleasurable. The quality of his vocals just gets by.

  • Well, the quality of the recording pretty much sucks and being a music producer like I am, I know that the better quality of all elements in a song, the better it makes everything sound. If the recording doesn't do the music justice then everything fails because they don't hit that point of excellence which makes it complete perfection. This recording barely has any instruments than bass, drums and vocals. The guitar just disappears in the sticky oatmeal of bad sound quality.

  • @TheAmazingUploader What do you expect? I doubt the recording device which was used to make this recording employed top of the line Neuman mics, Rupert Neve quality mic pres, high end high resolution A/D D/A converters let alone optimal mic positioning to capture the house mix. I also doubt that the person who recorded this audio had direct analog or digital outs from the Midas House console or access to to the main stage snake. I doubt that Bob Ludwig mastered it as well. It is what it is

  • @punkchickkool That does sound a lot like Steve.

  • I am one of the biggest Journey fans EVER! I have seen them through the years and I have to say that I LOVE to hear Deen sing this song and Still They Ride! It is not that Arnel cannot sing this one, but Deen does such an amazing job...why wouldn't you let him sing this one! NoSteveNoJourney...you are an idiot! I love Steve Perry, but not having Perry has not stopped the best group EVER! Keep on rockin Journey!!! SIgned - A TRUE Faithful fan !

  • Deen has sung this song before Arnel joined and does a great job at it. If it ain't broken then don't fix it. For those who say Arnel cannot sing this song, have you ever heard him try? NO. Then please shut up because you speak from ignorance.

  • @felicity5155 Actually we don't. Seeing as how Arnel always flips into falsetto during the top note in faithfully (Which by the way is a Eb5), we can safely assume that he wouldn't try to hit the D5, and E5 (A half step higher than the one from Faithfully) in full voice.

  • @tiffeexxloveyy search for Arnel's singing of Knockin' on the heaven's door and Alone,u can hear F5 n F#5, and Not in falsetto.

  • GREAT!

  • Amazing!

  • insanely amazing.....:) I love Deen he's so awesome

  • Deen is a BEAST!! Simply awesome! And playing at the same time ...

  • definately better than arnel, but Perry sings the high notes, dean yells them...but i liked it alot, as close to Perry as most can get

  • If Arnel sings this song -he will put more ummph on the song - not that Dean does not sing it very well already. But it is Dean's song to sing. It is a band. BTW Robert Fleischman is the original front man of Journey NOT Steve Perry.

  • @WatcherCatcher If Arnel could step up to the plate and hit this one out of the park, Schon and Cain would have him do it. This is one of the most difficult Journey songs to sing, and even Perry struggled with this one live. Deen's pronounciation, unique blend of power and finesse, tone, incredible range, dynamics, and just natural musicality are what this song needs to be a legit live performance. If Arnel could to it better than Deen, he would have got the gig on this one.

  • Robert Fleischman is the original front man, but not the original lead singer

  • Arnel can sing this song great too in choosing the right key. This arrangement is made just to give arnel a break in singing sooooo loooooooong hoursssss.

  • He has a great voice!!!

  • @ lookiingfortalent2007 > you have so much anger...I feel so sorry for people like you!

ARNEL PINEDA in my book is AWESOME!!! and DEEN is utterly AWESOME as well!!!

  • @ coachsteve > thanks for the upload!

ARNEL PINEDA ....YOU ARE THE BEST!!! JOURNEY WILL BE IN MY HEART FOR ALWAYS!!! PROUD TO BE A FILIPINA! love from NYC

  • I would have dropped Arnel's azz off in Osaka and made him walk home

fyi, Arnel is not singing this song, simply because he lascks the range and tonal color to make it consistently interesting, full time consideration of another endeaver might be in order

  • NO STEVE PERRY - NEVER WILL BE.

  • Perfect singing by Deen Castronovo... THE DRUMMER. ;-)

  • for all you guys this isnt arnel thats deen castratovo the drummer

  • Dee own this song nobody can take it.

  • PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR TRIBUTE TO STEVE AND THE BOYS !

    Go to OURVIRTUALJOURNEY

    "Still They Ride"

  • Castronovo is the man!!

  • Good arnel had a savior, i like deen too, i wish they could give him some rest to keep them going until they all retire.

  • arnel needed one in deen ...arnel can't touch this version..... if he's so good why does deen still sing this song...????because he can't

  • you see how popular Arnel was, you are here in JAPAN now ray ray!!

  • I think the pitch is too high for arnel to sing this song

  • of course it is this song would ruin him..

  • Comment removed

  • lolz... this song just doesn't fit arnels' voice, that's all... arnel can easily handle this notes... arnel can go into higher pitch like: alone of heart, listen to your heart by roxette, he can even do "through the fire" by chaka khan... don't just thrown such stupid opinions...

  • well i didnt know that

  • Arnel also has the accent that could not allow him to sing this song well

  • @Jimmierip2 yea that too...

  • yes

  • arnel couldn't touch this...sorry but deens the man!

  • youre soooo right!!!!!

  • Deen did a good job. You can tell he spent time nailing perrys phrasing and note holds.

  • yea and he took time to practice kicking Steve Perry in the ass....Thats how you do your song Steve, ya panzy

  • thnx for sharing steve...deen, you're the man!

  • This a hard voice to find!

  • all the Journey vocalist has a pretty unique voice damn they are gods!!!

  • This is very cool! Thanks for sharing, Steve!

  • I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF LISTENING TO DEEN AND WATCHING HIM ON DRUGS. I'd lie for him anytime. I saw Journey in Nashville, back stage. He is the ultimate bad boy, Tommy Lee step back, Deens in the house. US Cougar, TN

  • Thank you for posting this, babe!!!

  • Pay attention to his drumming as well as voice! His intense and at the same time song oriented drumming takes this song to another dimension!

  • I love augeri doin the high notes at the end! its so angelic!

  • Thnkas for sharing steve! Deen is awesome too. I hope he sings this in Jones Beach Aug 14/08
