Why do they get on the truck after it pulls out of the firehouse? is i only becauuse of the pedestrians walking in front? is this their s.o.p? ive seen vids from other houses in ny and they all do it too. im a ff in baltimore and we only have to get off the rig when backing into the house, not pulling out. i ha

@jr1883 I'm guessing is because there are too many pedestrians walking in front of the fire house, if the engine have to pull out slowly to make sure everyone "see" it coming, it might be taking a lot of time. so they come out to stop the pedestrians. Just guessing, it makes sense to me though

Great Paint job on this Truck !! Actually the City i live in , in Ontario Canada was Scheduled to receive a new Truck but after 9/11 the Manufacturer asked our Fire Department if they minded if they gave it to FDNY instead , because they lost so many Trucks . Our Fire Department were more then Happy to comply !

@MegaAndrewn their motto now is "Ten House, Still Standing." It was in fact damaged, but not totally destroyed. Most buildings around there were just badly damaged but not destroyed, with the exception of 7, and 3 WTC

@MegaAndrewn actually, Engine/Ladder 10's house was totally destroyed on 9/11, and was totally rebuilt since then. This new house memorial and ladder 10's flag mural are reminders that our fallen brothers will not be forgotten.

@MegaAndrewn as stated, most buildings were damaged rather than destroyed- theres was a church opposite the twin towers and during the collapse a large tree fell in front of it, the only damage was one broken window!

@sheba106 actually I work in the field, I'm a firefighter/emt in NJ. So yea, they actually teach you to not run to anything, once on the truck how fast the person drives is different. You go running to get on the fire truck, step in a pot hole, bc its NYC, and break your ankle, well now you just took your unit out of service so they can take care of you instead of the house/building thats burning. Maybe if you worked in the field you would understand. Theres noone more important then the rescuer
