  • What does she mean two more things out of the trunk?

  • @therestisrain Presumably it means the dead bodies of the stepdad and stepson who are mentioned earlier in the song.

  • This gave me goosebumps.

  • Omg! I got chills!!!

  • Just like what Tori said: Check fucking mate.

  • Gave me nightmares

  • @LandOfMutants The different perspective is her female voice and sounding motherly, why would she change the lyrics? She wanted to mirror back the violence of this song. The dead woman is repeating what M&M did to her while his daughter watched. If she changed the lyrics than it would be a DIFFERENT song. Was it really that difficult for you to comprehend that?

  • This wasn't the best cover off the album... I give my vote to Tom Waits' "Time"

  • @blind519 Yeah M&M is such a real artist and she isn't.

  • this is definitly being sung live from backstage.

  • Tori Amos finds it the ultimate compliment Eminem fans hate this song.

  • Apparently, she covered the song b/c she hated its sentiment . Her exact words were: "When I first heard the song, the scariest thing to me was the realization that people are getting into the music and grooving along to a song about a man who is butchering his wife. So half the world is dancing to this, oblivious, with blood on their sneakers. But when you talk about killing your wife, you don t get to control whom she becomes friends with after she s dead. She had to have a voice."

  • Scary as hell, but brilliant

  • let em sing the song dont mess up th song

  • @justanotherdruid -- if Em were actually feeling that, the song would be considered a terrorist threat and he'd be in jail today. Em's relationship with his wife headed south AFTER this song was released.

  • Wow so much hostility here. "Strange Little Girls" was meant to give the female subject in each of the covered songs a voice and as someone else mentioned, this cover gave a voice to the silent woman "in the bottom of the lake". Pure genius if you ask me.

  • Isn't the whole point that this is from Eminem, about things relevant to HIS life and how HE was tripping when he wrote it. It may be spooky the way she plays it but coming from her its just words.

  • omfg this is so fucking amazing.. omg it sends shivers down my spine.. eminem is brilliant, but Tori Amos is just so much more awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @crinsoncranes Shut up.

  • I love how silence falls upon the crowd for the last verse.

  • tori amos is the best at covers, she makes them her own, i think she dug deeper, and made the covers dark, darker, i love tori

  • I'm amazed at how many morons post their mindless verbal masturbation online. She didn't ruin it. She made an entire CD of covers of mens songs as sung from the point of view of a woman. In this one, she's singing it from the point of view of the mom that is murdered. I'm an Em fan and he loves this song. This is creepy. Tori is a brilliant musician. If you don't appreciate it, it's your fault, not hers.

  • @hakkujin how is this from the point of view of the murdered mom? is it because tori amos is a woman and she is reading eminem's unchanged lyrics?

  • @nogoodbastid She is singing this in a tone that clearly suggest sadness. This is what she said in an interview about the CD. It's all about tone. For example, even though your comment is typed, I can read that your tone is sarcastic and confrontational.

  • im not gonna respond to all you because youre all annoying. shut up.

  • @jwsavs Shut the fuck up , your annoying you crazy ass jew monkey!

  • ruined. completely ruined.

  • this SUCKS!

  • @jwsavs Why? Is it supposed to be cute or something? :V

  • @jwsavs How is it cute? It's a song about killing his wife and traumatizing his child by forcing her to help him dump her body in the water! There is NOTHING cute about that. Tori Amos sings it like it should be sung. People forget the message of this song! It's disturbing and wrong and Tori realizes that. Hell, I think even Eminem realizes that too, because he's apparently fine about this.

  • @jwsavs you do realize that this song is about Eminem dumping the body of his murdered wife, right, and that he's telling his daughter all about it, and even forcing her to help? The idea that this song could be 'cute' has got to be the most ignorant, unenlightened, and naive statement possible! Murder, even for the sake of entertainment, cannot be made 'cute' by putting it to an upbeat rhythm. Why don't we sing about how the terrorists killed thousands on 9/11, and call that 'perky'!

  • @audreysherfey lolol bloody hell, calm down.

i think you're misunderstanding what he meant

he means the tone of the voice eminem uses, he raps as if he's actually talking to his daughter. where as this freaky chick is just whispering in a haunting voice.

  • @jwsavs YOU my friend, are such crap.

thank you so much for expressing your opinion. it means so much.

    (:

  • @jwsavs i completely agree. everyone chill out. what he means is that when eminem says it, he says it as if he's speaking to his daughter, in a playful way. where as with this psycho chick..no matter what she's saying, i wouldn't let her anywhere near my child.

  • i must say

she really makes the lyrics sound as poetry

    she read it like poetry

  • her basic message to eminem is; how dare you creep out your daughter with a story about how you killed her mother and then sell it to people you bastard, give her away, you don't deserve to be a father.

the video of this song shows what happened to the girl years later.

  • people miss the point all the time, don't they?

  • Her voice is like a balm to a melancholy mind. This woman could be reading me my death sentence and make it seem that she's appointing herself as my slave. Yowzeee!!

  • most of you guys are idiots. I like tori and eminem but if you write violent, shocking songs than people have a right to get offended if they want. just like people have a right to like it if they want. writing isn't about being sensitive to other people's feelings, but if you write something that upsets someone than you need to recognize that they have as much right to get upset by it as you did to write it

  • I love how she does this song, she makes it so creepy. I love it.

  • Em wrote the song to shock and get attention. Tori covered it to shock and get attention. I don't see what the problem is.

  • @bogslug No, Em wrote this song because it's how he was feeling at the time (1998)

  • @bogslug No, Tori covered it to show how horrible the lyrics are and from the point of view of the woman being murdered. M&M wrote it because he's fucked in the head.

  • tori amos is a hypocrite! "men aren't used to getting invaded because they love empowerment" ???? "i'm speaking for women" ??? what is this BS? then why the hell did she have botox? she basically is saying it's not acceptable for women to have wrinkles as they grow older? respect -1000000. and btw this cover is just awful. it's an elaborate, overdramatic piece of phlegmatic work like the rest of her music.

  • Personally, I don't like this, putting aside that I'm an eminem fan. Through the point of view as an artist; it coulda been done better.

  • i dont get why this is good or why people are cheering, im not a fan of eminem but this is just awful.

  • The song isn't about his hate for his wife but about his insecurities and his fear to lose his daughter, therefore runing away with her (Bonnie and Clyde being also a famous roadtrip movie).

  • if she hatse the song, does it really make sense to cover it? Em gets publishing royalties everytime she performs it...so she's really just making him money

  • lol I love how she thinks she's so deep and rebellious just by stealing someone else's lyrics and trying to "take them back."

She feels it invades his space? All it does is show that the song got under her skin, which is exactly what it was supposed to do. In this regard, Eminem wins and Tori Amos loses. Nice job. Parents hated Eminem's music, and it got him famous. You got him just a little more famous with people who'd never heard of him (i.e. your fanbase). Loss.

  • This is crazy

  • I like Eminem's version, but I still think the way she sings it is pretty damn creepy.

  • She didnt even sing the best part.....SOOOOOOoooo longggggg I donttt wanttt too gooooo onnn livingg in this worlllllllllllld without you.....!......BOOOooooo!

  • this is crap

  • This is a terrible video, she's not even rapping. She's just saying the words 2 the song

  • This is terrible.

  • Eminem's fans hate her version of this song because it sucks. It's that simple. Citing it as an "invasion of his space" is about as folly as saying that her reciting his words with a voice akin to a ball of mucus caught in her throat is "giving the wife a voice".

  • So it's a cover *cough, shitty cover* of an eminem song and eminem got the beat from tupac. Anyway I was wondering wats appealing about this? I mean ya the lyrics are creepy but she just takes the crazyness to another level with the tone and mood...at least eminems version is appealing to the ears

  • @cannonultra789 Yeah, that's what the appeal is. It takes the thinly veiled horror of the song and brings it to the forefront.

  • ayyi! is she like a lesbien? why she kill her gf huh?

  • @ayyihuh she is doing an Eminem cover lols

  • no body in this world is evah gunna keep u away from me-----i luv u. those were not words to his daughter lols

  • Haha what the hell is that ???

Eminem as a version in which we don't have to wait 2 minutes to ear a single word xD

In fact , she took Em's lyrics and if I can say did a cover , which suck

It's a big Fail . She try to look sexy ? FAILLLLLL !!!!! It sucks , Em's the best that's all.

  • @Mickk4224 She wasn't trying to be sexy at all. You missed the point completely. As someone said before, this isn't a tribute, it's more of a change in perspective. Eminem is good at what he does, but if you could just take the time to feel how a song can take a different side, it makes the song that much more special.,

  • tori amos rules

  • Strange.

Which stuff these people listening her on this concert are made from? how could they listen such sad song and scream wow wow wow simultaneously?..

wow what? wow that mom is takin a little nap in truck? damn... people become crazy...

  • Both the original and Tori's version are fantastic.

  • this is shit.

  • This is Genius at its best

  • this iz fukn shit house em bombz it on thiz trak

  • I can never tell where Eminem's public persona ends and where his real personality starts. I dated a girl who loved him. She thought this cover was really creepy.

  • It's amazing how this woman can turn absolute shit into gold!

  • Em's is more effective. He didn't write it as a joke. He wrote it to show his love for his daughter. It's fucked up but regardless it's better.

  • I don't really like it, but I respect Tori Amos nonetheless. That being said, Eminem's Version is the one I prefer.

  • WTF

  • people are saying he shouldve made the song dark dont even know why he wrote the song, It wasnt a joke, It was a song for his daughter, it was a Fuck You song to Kim,

  • hmmm...so he wrote a song to his infant daughter about killing her mother. What a GENIUS!!

  • @th3wing3dpaint3r of course content is what makes something good or not. just shut up. the original song is gewnius. its not just some average lyrics about killing your wife that anybody can write, no eminems lyrics are actually creative. this song is genius and so is KiM. you want good story telling, listen to eminems song Stan. other wise just shut the hell up for you dont know what your talking about

  • :D

    So cute!!

You're obviously an Eminem fan. And i understand how challenging debates might be for you. but what exactly does your reply have to do with this comment?

One may say it reinforces part of it. But the rest is just as dumb as Eminem's lyrics XD

  • and you are obviously not a hiphop fan. for you to call this utter shit prooves you know nothing of the creativity with in this song. I'm sorry you cannot comprehend the genius that exist with in this song.

  • vice2vursa, what exactly is "genius" about this. The "music" or lack thereof is in no way "genius"

The lyrics are about him taking his daughter with him while he hides her mom's dead and bloody body. Rather ignorant of him to write such a song.

I wouldn't call the lyrics poetic either.

So wt's genius about it? Maybe our standards for music are different.

The only thing interesting is how many ppl were victims to the "grrr i'm a white rapper and i'm violent and overly obscene" facade.

  • @th3wing3dpaint3r If an artist/musician you liked made a song about a cause you personally feel obliged too then I bet you would be claiming it lyrically brilliant. Maybe you should think about it a little more and analyze the lyrics a little more carefully then maybe, just maybe you might notice the creativity. If not then it’s purely preference especially since the environment has a strong influence over your musical taste.

  • @vice2vursa "If an artist/musician you liked made a song about a cause you personally feel obliged to" OOOH. So there's a "cause" ? :D

    Please elaborate on that.

I actually had that album along with "the eminem show" both of which had initially engaged me with their explicit content ( i was a teenager back then :D).

  • But if people today think that gaga is "very talented". i guess it's not so strange that they think the same of Eminem.

  • @th3wing3dpaint3r

    continuing where I left off

When looking at it through lyrical quality, you obviously can’t get over the content. You have a particular insight that differs from those who see its brilliants’. If it’s the content that really bugs you then of course you would claim it to be nonsense trash. Don’t mistake me for saying you are stupid, I’m just saying as you said earlier “different standards”.

  • @vice2vursa "When looking at it through lyrical quality, you obviously can’t get over the content"

I don't get your point. How exactly is one supposed to analyze/judge lyrics.

Lyrics are typically used to deliver the message in a song. If you're suggesting that they're poetic to the point where one can ignore their vulgar/tasteless nature, I can assure you that there's much out there that trumps these lyrics in terms of poeticism.

  • @th3wing3dpaint3r so she copied it word for word whats that make her

  • this is one of the worst covers ive ever seen, she was just coping the verses, without the original rhythm and feel of the original version, and she could at least have put a little music in there, its almost a capella!

  • Oh yeah. Nothing rocks like a cover that sounds exactly like the original in every way except the vocals are from a different person. Those are the most bitchin' covers of all! Maybe she should have just downloaded a Karaoke version online and sung to it. Her record would have sold way more! -.-

  • Read about why she covered this song and why she made an album made out of some songs writtena and performed by men. Then you maaaaybe can get the idea ^^

  • THANK YOU for having the only clue in this thread.

  • Well, I think it's annoying when people write comments and pretend that they know what everything is about ;)

  • thumbs down me but that sucked theyr applauding her for copying eminems lyrics just sayin it like an asthmatic

  • Is She stone ?

  • She is rock, my friend.

  • She redefines the song, and makes it a statement about abuse. It's really amazing. At least that is how I think of it.

  • That is exactly it.

i quote "Eminem's fans hate her cover. "That's the greatest compliment I've received," she says, teeth gritted. "My version invades his space, and men aren't used to feeling invaded, it drives them mad. Empower the wife, give her a voice. That's how you are an activist, I think. Is the song pretty? No, but I never said it was." Her blue eyes blaze. "Singing it is not a tribute." — Tori; The Times (UK), Dec 18, 2001"

  • @Whatiwouldntgive

The fans might hate it. but he gets the publicity and therefore more listens and therefore more sales. She's essentiantly contributing to the widespread sale of something she hates.

    Marvellous.

  • @ChrisWillzX : you got to be the most retarded person, this isn't about sales or about destroying emimen, see people with ACTUAL intellect get it. she's responded from the other side. she's fucked with his manhood...that which makes him so "cool' so crazy...she's saying "PATHETIC and SAD" that's all it is. regardless of sales or not. I hope you have a strong body or a lot of money..cause motherfucker your brain is handicap can't see u making it too far..

  • @TarantulaCandy responding from the other side would be giving her own input not just copying everything he said word for word

  • @Whatiwouldntgive

I hate to say it, but Tori Amos is out. I used to love her back in the day. However her songs just got more weird and with pointless lyrics. Now Tori is just a shade of her former self. She's become more bitchy too, like yelling at fans and talking shit about other artists. Sorry Tori, but the 90's is over and you've lost your touch. You are no longer relevant and you haven't produced an album anywhwere near as great as LIttle Earthquakes in over a decade. Sat but true :(

  • @BoyintheMachine i hate to say this but i agree. she stopped making good albums after to venus and back.

  • @RootMenu

Yeah, I agree. I had a tape that had all her videos on it and I gave it away. Gave away books on Tori as well. Even took down my Tori posters though I still have one postcard of her breastfeeding that pig from Boys For Pele! LOL Her old work will always be good but it's pretty much over now. If her fans were honest instead of living in the past they would admit such as well.

  • @BoyintheMachine I agree 100%! how awesome would it be to have another Album from her now that would be as powerful as Little Earthquakes. I wish she would!

  • @Whatiwouldntgive I really truly love this cover! It goes way beyond what Eminem wanted to say and really looks at Hailey!

  • @Tabanda425 no it doesnt go way beyond what eminem said or ment its simply the exact same lyrics sang in a different tone cant you understand that eminem delivered the original with meaning so she stole it and resang it and get credit for creating something when all she did was steal this song is copied word for word she does not change a thing but the voice to claim she added meaning to the song is ridiculous

  • @Whatiwouldntgive lmao she acts like she did something for women by singing this song from the females perspective ... only thing is this talentless btch just copied every lyric word for word so what happened to the female perspective its just a mans words sang by her ...

  • @ieatpaste789 Tori changed the interpretation of the song. Its not that she is just singing one of his songs, she gave the song a different identity. We all speak in different tones and manners to convey our intent, we can all say the same sentence but how we say it can easily change its meaning and thats exactly what Tori tried to do and thats the point of singing a cover :)

  • @ieatpaste789 you're obviously a waste of DNA and brain cells. the concept is 2 complex for your LIMITED brain to understand.

  • @TarantulaCandy the concept of stealing someones lyrics isnt all that complex you stupid fat BTCH get real she didnt write that song ... is that to hard for you to understand fatty

  • @ieatpaste789 Your posts lost all credibility when you screamed "talentless" in your post. Tori actually writes MUSIC not just lyrics. She's written more music than Eminem ever will. Though, in all fairness, Eminem has quite possibly written more lyrics.

I suggest a Music Theory course if you can't comprehend the difference two performers give to the same composition (or in this case words spoken over a beat in one, over music in the other). You've obviously missed the point.

  • @Whatiwouldntgive

Maybe the fans hate it, but Eminem respected it. Notice you don't hear him talk any crap about Mama Tori.

  • @dylanhoka

Just how does she do this? She basically says it slowly. There is no discernable message, it's just a shit version of a good Eminem track.

  • @ChrisWillzX exactly man I cant believe people praise her for singing an eminem song word for word ... how does that add sooooo much more meaning to it ... it would have been something if she added her own lyrics and sang as the woman in the trunk but to copy what he said word for word and get credit for it is just sick he fans must be fkn morons

  • @ChrisWillzX : another dumbass (YEAH IM TALKING ABOUT U BITCH). this song is way more powerful, because it takes a song full of hate, that douschebags like you think is "cool" because it has a good beat. this song truly captures the dark gritty meaning behind the songs, the true MESSAGE what's going on in the little girl's head it's not "just the 2 of us, daddy loves u" happy beat like eminem's version..this is the hell of the TRAUMA behind it, plus it gives the much absent female voice.

  • this is an ok cover, but nothing like the original.

  • Absolutely haunting.

  • is she getting railed while doing this?

  • Oh, my God. Eminem is a genius and so is Tori. Yes, people who "matta" know who Tori is. Yes, Tori one-upped Em on one of his best songs. Yes, that is hard to do and practically nobody else can do it. She had to drastically reinterpret the song in order to. No, there really isn't a good reason to compare Eminem with Tori Amos.

  • This is no way better than Eminem's version - most covers aren't as good as the original, so there's nothing wrong that.

Honestly, Tori Amos obviously respected Eminem and liked the song enough to cover it ... so yeah, people, lay off Em.

  • Actually, the funny thing is that you can hardly spell XD

  • It's about 23,000 times better than the joke of a song Emenim put out.

When I heard his song, I could have sworn HE did the cover because THIS is what the song should sound like. His sounds ridiculous.

  • What, did you expect Eminem to sing his version, sixthcrusifix?

  • I'm not 100% clear on what you meant by that.

Eminem could have at least made it creepy and dark or even angry instead of practically comical.

  • what makes this song creepy and dark, because its slower lol get tha fuck outta here idiot.

The song fits the mood of the album, He made the songs dark while at the same time adding a little bit of comedy. If you want Dark, creepy or angry then listen to his song "Kim" which is the prequel to this song.

Its funny you attack eminems writing yet Eminem has been praised by English literatures for his writing

  • It's funny that you have the nerve to discuss literature and it seems you can hardly write. It's absolutely fucking hilarious that you write like a six-year-old and call me an idiot.

You're so beyond stupid that I don't even have to make up a counter-argument. The ridiculousness of your post is its own riposte.

  • what is this, an english lesson im not here to get your approval. You got the point it seems but lol at your failed attempt at trying to be a smart ass. lol again at attacking my English .

Pathetic attempt, did I hurt your feelings son

  • It's called black comedy. It's a device usually reserved for people who aren't complete idiots.

  • I seriously doubt Black Comedy was Mathers' intention. It seems quite a bit above him.

  • Hey, we can go back and forth all day with passive-aggressive comments about how "Funny" or "Hilarious" we find each other for being complete idiots but I doub't it'll change either of our opinions.

Eminem is about as deep as a puddle of mosquito spit and that's how I feel. Eminem is much richer than I am but I'll bet any important, left body part that he doesn't hold a candle in the intelligence area.

  • wow this is like emonem

  • The arguements on here are stupid. I LOVE Eminem and I LOVE Tori Amos. What she did here was bring out the true horror of the song underneath Eminem's more humerous but also creepy version. Both songs are fucking creepy and great. But writers are allowed to write all kinds of creepy serial killer novels and they are best sellers, but when you put murder in a song people freak out. Not that this song isn't fucking sick but it's also brilliant.

  • yannmijnheer - LMAO..... did you not hear the first single from his new record? you think that sounds good? Just awful talking over awful noise ("music")... ya little bitch

  • Umm the reason I got into all this ridiculous discussion in the first place was by defending Tori here... and then some people took it to a personal lever (including you). Everyone insulted her here and put Eminem in some pedestal, which he does not deserve to be on.

Trust me, I am open to differences.... I wasn't I would be joining in the majority and cheering Eminem.

Eminem is a total fucking wanker!! :)

    and clearly, so are you.

  • lol Eminem fans have such a high opinion of him, far higher than what he's worth.

sorry to break it to you but "singing" about killing people, taking drugs and insulting celebs is not talent.

He should thank Tori for this, she makes the song sound far better than it actually is.

  • lmfao! yeah, sure... "genius"

but that's coming from someone who can't even spell the word! hahaha

  • lmao, just keep telling yourself that!

    Tori Amos > Eminem

  • tori amos? who? dont know that bitch. em is a fucking beast. he's fucking great. he has a great mind. and you think some bitch that just read his lyrics in a different tone is nice. T_T okay sure. em came up with those lyrics fucking GENIUS!

  • hahaha! :')

It's pretty obvious that you don't know of Tori, especially because you think Eminem is a genius.

  • LOL I have listened to Eminem... you think talking about Gwen Stefani's ass and insulting celebrities makes someone a genius?... with that definition Perez Hilton would be a genius.

Yeah okay, Eminem is better... sure.

  • My brother has all the albums, so I've already suffered through listening to pretty much most of his songs.... don't fancy going through that again.

Anyway, bottom line is, I prefer Tori, you prefer Eminem... we could go on forever saying one is better than the other.

  • Your brother has excellent taste. but you sure he got infinite. listen to it.

and bottom line is eminem has a bettter mind then her, better lyrics, the stuff he comes up with. no one else in rap, will ever match him.

  • I'm not going to listen to him... I dont like him.

How can you say he's got better lyrics than Tori if you've never heard of her? She is actually well known for her song writing abilities.

Say what you like though, makes no difference... it's just a matter of opinion.

  • w.e. i dont gotta listen to know the truth.

    soooooo

    sick my duck. =D

  • yeah, sure... whatever.

    I assume you mean "suck"?

  • Noo. Sick Duck. Don't wanna sound too vulgar. =)

  • haha I didn't realise you said duck too lol

  • Calm down, Stan.

  • And you're fucking dumb, so.

  • I think its artistic on both sides. I think the darkness and gentleness of it can be seen from both perspectives, and I honestly think Tori and MM should have performed this together at some point. That would have brilliant!
