I mean like the school/gov help you with the living expenses. I know someone from full sail signed up for that. Was just wondering if you had that too or you used your own money?
Oh yeah, I was broke. I had to get federa loans and private loans to cover my living expensenes. And the financial aid rep at the school helped me figure it all out. @sumoneunknown
Like in finding a place to stay? They did indeed help, but my roommate went aheaf did all of the research ahead of time. Overall, it doesnt take too long to get help. Keep in mind that was back in 2007. @sumoneunknown
You said you wanted to talk to others in different programs... im going for GD in a couple months.. I don't know when you graduate or whatever but if you want to stay in contact and such, hit me up.
I graduate Oct 2nd, 2009. EASTSIDEDELI mentioned he might start video podcasts of all the different programs. I would like to do it myself. But its super hard to find time to do it. Who knows, we shall what happens. ;)
Dude i have 1 more question. i've been looking to going to this school for quite some time now. but i was wondering do a good bit of students get good jobs in the industry from that school.and have the teachers worked with people in the industry?do you know of a few graduates who recently got jobs in the industry? on some forums people complain that this school is a scam and that it isn't worth it. i just want to know so i can use my money wisely. thanks ^-^
Aight. From what I have seen a good bit of students do indeed get good jobs in the industry. But its up to them to work hard for it. The teachers have indeed worked and are industry people. Most teach and work on projects outside of school. I do know a few graduates who recently got jobs in the industry, and they love it. As far a "scam" goes, it is not. Its just a school, you learn, work really hard, and you make it in the industry. Slacking just a little bit does no good here.
Hey I am thinking about Full Sail and I had a question, throughout your 20 months or whatever it is, do you get any months off or is it just straight through? Thanks
Im nearing the end of my 2nd month in DAD. In my DST class I'm in a group creating video podcasts of all the different programs. Time permitting, we'll try to continue doing these throughout my time at Full Sail. The 1st is on recording arts program. We aren't film students so the footage sucks honestly. I wish I could've done it on my own, I would have done a better job. I may start a group on campus that creates new projects ea month, & have students in their reflective programs help!
I know a few folks who live in Whisper Lake, they seem to like it alot. As for the other places, I have heard lots of different things, but just depends on their personal experience.
If im not mistaken. They do one every month. Its called the "Behind the Scenes Tour." They show you most of the school. They also offer "day tours" also. ;)
Yeah mine came on time. You don't have to give them $8,000 up front. I think when your loan and everything is set, its all taken care of. That was back in 2007 for me, so things might have changed a little. Your Financial Aid Advisor can tell you more than I can. ;)
Now, something that has been worrying me is, or course, a career after you graduate.
Do you already have in mind what companies you would like to work for, or do you intend on being an independent film maker?
I ask this because there is a growing concern that, even if Full Sail trained me to the best of their and my abilities, I would not find a decent job in the field that I like (in your case film/movies). I guess that's the big concern for all of us, eh?
Yes, I already have a few places in mind. I do want to do some indie stuff on the side as well.
Oh yeah, finding a career is a big challenge. You gotta go 110% when learning, and searching for a job. Its not guaranteed that a job will be waiting on me when I get out. There are hundreds of others that are going for the same job that I am. I got to be better them, and want it more.
Just like iheartxes said, its not a traditional college. Full Sail teaches things on a more technical side of things. As far as reputation goes, Full Sail has only been around since 1979. It will take quite a long while to establish any type of reputation. And even when it does, its still going to be a different kind of college. Where did you here about its reputation?
Wow...just wow...

Oh ok. So are those loans let you borrow money for your expenses or they help you with it and you dot have to pay back?
sumoneunknown 10 months ago
@sumoneunknown The loans you have to pay back. But if you can find a scholarship or grant. You don't have to pay them back.

Our class was small enough to work on our edit by ourselves if we choose. I teamed up with a class mate, and we did a collaboration on it.

I heard that Full Sail doesnt amount to the reputation like NYU USC and UCLA.... Is that TRUE?!?!?
BuckFord9708 2 years ago
you're talking about completely different types of universities... full sail is in no way a traditional college
