It's called the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' (I can explain why if you want.) You can still catch it sometimes late at night running the old episodes like this one.
I think Gary Rossington and Allen Collins with no Ed works very well live, sometimes I think it sounds a bit cluttered with all those guitars on stage. Not on the studio versions of course, just live. =)

(It's all in Gene Odom's book "Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering the Free Birds of Southern Rock" (Gene Odom was Ronnie's best childhood friend and WAS on the plane when it went down... Johnny was going to front Skynyrd either way...fate just ripped it out differently.
I actually have that book, its been quite a while since I read it though, and yes, I've heard of Ronnie's plans of starting a country career and handing the reigns over to Johnny in 78. Produced by the great Tom Dowd. Listen to other Dowd great achievements, Live at Filmore, Derrick and dominos, etc you will find his contribution to laying these grooves into vinyl is utterly amazing. The sales where more genre dependent and the swing of American tastes was embracing Arena rock, Disco, etc then coming into the new wave..this decreased sales of some of the great band of the mid 70's. The depth of Ronnie's song-writing was peaking, if only the Lord would have left Him here.

One of my fave Skynyrd songs, although they're all great. Funny how this song was written. Rossington & Ronnie were in the drunk tank one night after a bar brawl, and Gary mentioned how it was his second time in there. Ronnie mentioned he's been there so many times he stopped counting. That's where Gary named Ronnie: "Double Trouble". By the way, I have this whole concert and sell it on eBay. Look out for it!

What a fantastic band, I was lucky enough to see them at Knebworth back in the seventies, and again in London after that. I still lament that dreadful day that it all came to an end. R.I.P. Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, and Dean

yes it fucking pisses me off, one of my old band mates, who I hate now spelled it Lenard skenird, and spelled Black Sabbath Black Sabith, that's why I wrote all the lyrics because my vocabulary was superb compared to his, I think the fact that I could spell and speak correctly and corrected him when he was stupid was the reason why I got fired

awsome song from an incredible band. from the album "gimme back mybullets." which was one of there worst albums selling wise. which i dont get. it had soo many good songs such as all i can do is write about it and cry for the badman.

Produced by the great Tom Dowd. Listen to other Dowd great achievements, Live at Filmore, Derrick and dominos, etc you will find his contribution to laying these grooves into vinyl is utterly amazing. The sales where more genre dependent and the swing of American tastes was embracing Arena rock, Disco, etc then coming into the new wave..this decreased sales of some of the great band of the mid 70's. The depth of Ronnie's song-writing was peaking, if only the Lord would have left Him here.

One of my fave Skynyrd songs, although they're all great. Funny how this song was written. Rossington & Ronnie were in the drunk tank one night after a bar brawl, and Gary mentioned how it was his second time in there. Ronnie mentioned he's been there so many times he stopped counting. That's where Gary named Ronnie: "Double Trouble". By the way, I have this whole concert and sell it on eBay. Look out for it!

Ronnie was the best frontman ever.They even blew Mick Jaggers & the Stones ass off the stage at knebworth in england in Micks house. C'mon who else had the balls to have 3 lead guitarists. Most of them are. The only original members still alive are Ed King, Artimus Pyle, Billy Powell, and I think the female backup singers, except for Cassie. R.I.P. 1977, Cassie.

Artimus Pyle how ever is not apart of the band he left for the fact that the band started getting back into drugs and he did not want anything to do with it. Also Garry Rossington is still in the band as a guitarist. sorry if i misspelled his name.

The new Skynyrd sucks because, although Johnny sounds similiar, 1. He voice has no soul/blues element, and 2. They are kinda trying to ride the suscess of the old Skynyrd, and their music aint nearly as good. Love the original, not so much the new one.

Never cared for these guys, still don't. They were way over-rated, and I agree with Steve Earle: they have the lamest drummer ever. He sounds like he ate dry concrete for breakfast, and every time he hits the drum it sounds like a wet, stilted fart.
