  • This is nice and relaxed Tom. As usual, a fine performance. Is it an original? It certainly makes me sit back with my phones on and just let the song wash over me.

    Excellent!

  • @judassane Thank you very much for that comment. I appreciate it. Yes, it is an original. Wrote it a couple years ago and 'refurbished' it last month.

  • I like how you tell a story and your a mean fingerpicker nice song Tom!!!

  • @MCguit88 Thanks MC. I wish I had that flowing, 'just doin' it' confidence you have. I can tell you must have been a player from way back. You always look like you're having the time of your life. Music is great isn't it.

  • @tomvband I appreciate your kind words Tom but if I had to sing and fingerpick at the same time I don't know how it would turn out lol!!!

  • @MCguit88 hahahahah....that's why I never chew gum and play,...one too many considerations,...rock on!

  • Nice one Tom. Sweet pickin wish I could keep my pinkie under control like you can!

  • @davemorag1 Thanks Dave,....though I'm not sure anything is under control when I play,...hahahaha

  • I like your train song Tom ! You know i got a trainsong on MrRiblet's page too ! Small world on youtube. Cheers , John

  • @namnoiz hey Johnb,.....I heard your train song,...bery well done man. I kinda like having someone give me a theme and then coming up with a song.

  • Hi Tom,

    I like a lot.

    Thanks a lot.

    Friendly :

    Steph.

  • @Tsutsomu Thank you so much Steph.

  • Gday Tom man i love this playing its moulded in you great work mate and one of my favorite themes trains peace man .

  • Excellent Story Telling Tom Excellent Performance my Friend.

  • @TUCKERZONE Thank you once again Nidge. I always appreciate your time and comments man.

  • Wow..this is a fine story Tom! The fingerpickin' style is a perfect compliment to the song too, a little different than the more bluesy style you've been playing of late. You've spun an excellent tale..straight to favs!!!

  • @nessyvt Shouldn't that be complement....Ms. English wizard,.....hahahahaha

  • @tomvband po-tay-to po-ta-toe???....naaaaa you got me! ....english wizard?? thanks for the complement....hahahaha

  • @nessyvt Good thing you don't live around here,....hahahaha

  • nice tune. hobo-ing makes for a good song topic.

  • @cluelocker You ever check out Seasick Steve,.....he was a real Hobo. Has a great song,....I started out with nothing, and still have most of it left. Plays a three string guitar,...with a slide. Very cool.

  • @tomvband yeah, I've got my cover of his song Fallin Off a Rock on my channel. I have played around on all his stuff... he is great! My idol... he was "discovered" at the age of 68..... means there is still hope for me, since I'm only 56 LOL.

  • Ain't nobody I'd rather share a boxcar with Tom, long as you got that geetar. ;-)

Really Great lyrics buddy. Hell of a song n' I like how you get-up-on that geetar !

Just Damn Good Stuff ! Catch ya' down the line buddy... :-))

  • @profwaldo Well let's hop a train and see the world Prof! We could write some songs and our memoirs along the way. Fun With the Prof & Tom. Perfect.....best seller.....hahahahaah......we'd get arrested.

  • @tomvband hahaha Yeah, I kinda' doubt I'm as good at hoppin' railcars as I useta' be Tom but if ya' gimme a boost I think I could do it. Hey, when we get arrested I'll do some jokes for the cops and you can do a song about how I got my ass whooped for bein' a smart-ass. I tell ya' if things don't pick up I might not be jokin' about this, I'll be doin' it for real man. But I'm resourceful, I suppose I can still adapt my old ass.

Okay... I'm in,... lemme' know when buddy. hahaha

  • @profwaldo I'm so old I don't run from or to anything,....I'll take the beating or let it get away. We might have to hop trains that are actually stopped. Times are bad for sure. I'm working a job that pays just about what they used to take out of my check for taxes.,....but at least I have a job. Hard Times isn't exactly just a whimsical song.......what a world, eh? It is what it is, right up until it ain't.

  • Splendiferous song, Tom, really diggin' in! I love train songs. Combine the hobo life, and we have a winner! Always love your performances too, that whiskey and salt voice and your wonderful playing! Hope the day has been treatin ya right. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs Splendiferous??? Is that from Mary Poppins,.....no,...that was Supercalifragilisticexpealidotious......perhaps. Thanks Janetto......nice to see you kiddo. Let's go camping,....hahaha

  • Howdy Tom

    really enjoyed this one

    stay cool man

    have a great weekend

    Rich

  • @1958wvpicker Thanks Mr. Rich,.....I appreciate your frequent flyer status here at my little spot on the tube.

  • ....there's always room for one more.....couldn't have said it better Tom! A great addition to the collection, sir!!!! Great Playing! rib

  • @MrRiblet Hey Rib.....thanks man. Appreciate you stopping at my station here at the end of the line. Hahahaha

  • Sit back, relax and let the worries roll off as the miles roll by. Sweet song Tom - shows a whole different side of your playing and singing. Very much enjoyed it.

  • @bigbrotherblues Thanks John,...I saw that you were doing some experimenting as well. Good thing to do from time to time me thinks.

  • Very cool. Do you plug your guitar directly into the recording system? I think it might sound better if you mic'd it instead.

  • @Oswlek Justin, I got the guitar and the mic direct into a Roland A/C 60. From there I take the line out directly into the mic jack on the camera. I monitor through the headphones. Trouble is, what I hear in the headphones isn't exactly what the camera hears......and then from the camera to the movie maker things change again. I'm guessing you were referring to the volume and presence of the guitar sorta overwhelming the whole thing? I need a sound guy,...hahaaha

  • @tomvband No, I'm refering to the quality of the guitar sound. If you have time, check out my songs "California" and "Daybreak". On Cailfornia, I was pluging the guitar cable directly into the audio interface and, because of it, it has an electronic feel to it. Like it is a midi-guitar instead of the real thing. "Daybreak" is mic'd instead and the guitar sounds more like...

Well, a guitar! It sounds like yours has the plugged in sound that "Cali" has.

  • @Oswlek Alrightie,...I'm off to the Justing channel. Thanks for the opinion and info. I have a significant amount of respect for your opinions man.

  • Do I hear a Jimmy Rodgers tone? damn...ride on bro.... there's nothing but a train song, when i got fuckin lonesome Tom, I close me eyes and dive on a train taking me away a million miles... great song...

    Rw

  • @Sonofxango Wayn,,,,,you're right man,...there is nothing like a train song. Wonder what that is,.....some sense of freedom, escape,....carefree living off the cuff come what may,......romantic.

  • You played that guitar like you were making love to it...beautiful song Tom. The lyrics are just a bit sad and melancholy.....love the old man take on it all....his life almost over and all....great stuff.....into your playlist pal.

  • @PatrickGMoran Thanks Pat. Something about that song for me....It might be a little weird to say I like one of my own songs, but this is one that I like. I'll have to play it a couple hundred times to get the feel into it. Appreciate the comments brother.
