I was so bummed when this story didn't go where it was supposed to. When you make a deal with Mephistopheles he twists it and screws you. That's what you get for making a deal with the Devil. Aunt May gets saved but gets hit by a bus the next day and Mary Jane get stuck in a loveless marriage with flash Thompson who becomes a drunk that beats her. An Honest deal from the devil is bad writing.

Who cares if there is alot of continuity, thats the legacy of the character. Thats what made Marvel cool, continuity. They managed 4 45 years with no real problems. For the most part u can pick up a Spider-Man story and read it in peace without continuity getting in the way. If something crops up, then look into it and u will find a good story there. They didn't need a reboot. They had that with Ultimate. It was a sell out

he won't get fired soon. he actually saved marvel from bancrupcy and remade comic book company into a movie studio. and S-M stories sells a lot, too. marvel outsells dc 2:1 - and look at top100 comics in 2008 - most places are marvel. theoretically - noone has a reason to fire him.

@runn1ng Apparently not, but I say hat it was Avi Arad who saved Marvel from Bankrupcy, that happened five years before Quesada got to manage the Marvel Knights tittles. Arad, made things so good specially with Marvel movies, which led to the Disney bid. As for Quesada s future who knows, if you put bad titles as OMd, Franken Castle, Secret Invasion, and others, and have commercial success, you might still be fired.

@runn1ng His situation reminds me of Tom De Falco and Bob Harras, they were at a time huge sellers, but consitently placed more and more crappy titles on the Market. Clone Saga was among theem. In the end, comic fans stoped buying their titles, which led to bankrupcy. In my Opinion Quesada did a pretty good job the first five or so years, nowadays each big change, event, spooks me , somebody should replace him , and bring new ideas along.

The clone saga is not nearly as bad as this, at least he was in character there. If u toook the clone saga, u could re-make it into something cohesive that would make sense. Lets see if anyone will ever like this

You know I called marvel and dc with an idea to do a comic about alzheimers and the proceeds could go to the alziemers association. I talked to the PRESIDENT of DC Paul Levitz who i am sure is pretty busy for 30 min. I left a message on quesadas machine two months ago.....still waiting joe. wait a minute! Isn't the whole thing about Ghost Rider is that he makes a deal with the devil? So it isn't alien for marvel to use religeous concepts. Marvel is doing one hell a story job on spiderman. I mean Spiderman talks to god(or Jesus not sure) and makes a deal with the devil. I mean wow, this is either going to be a brilliant or stupid idea. I personally thinks this takes spiderman to new lengths and probably might become one of marvel milestones eventually. Maybe.

I have a feeling that everything will go back to normal guys. Either this deal with the devil is going to go awry and peter will end up making the hard decision to accept his past reality and god will help put his life as it were in the last issue of back in black. Or peter stays within his new reality and marvel will go along with the "love conquers all" idea and peter will get back with MJ. Remember kids, MJ whispered something during the deal with mephisto and we don't know what was said.
