  • Damn this takes me back!!! I remember watching this in school.

  • i agree with aldfjak. in school they made me watch this shit too. so damn boring.

  • 1:25-1:30 affleck goes retarded.

  • We watched this in our 6th grade science class as well. It was a whole year thing, with whales and the ocean and whatnot. Even went on a whale watch. It was the best.

  • hes so cute!

  • I think I remember this one.

  • I had to watch this in 6th grade in Mr. Ellisor's science class. I thought it was the shit.

  • dude it was the shit! i know it was the best part of my 6th grade science class, we would all flip our shit when the teacher said it was voyage of the mimi day

  • i had to watch this crap twice in school growing up... i think in 5th grade and also in 7th grade.

    boring and bad acting.

  • Though I never watch this in school, I used to watch this at home during the block feeds on PBS around 5AM before going to school. Now thats memories.

  • This isn't Daniel Cook :)

  • daniel cook's a teenager now. yikes

  • "When Dr. Hamlit told me he was taking me into the arctic wind tunnel. I was a little worried. Especially since he was looking at me that way. But he said it was a good way to learn about how our bodies could generate heat. I knew what he meant"

  • In the second voyage of the mimi, payback time. Dr. hamlit was a test case in the tropic wind tunnel. Same location.

    I know. I watched the 13 Episodes

twenty times - same with Season 2.

  • Only 12 episodes in Season 2.

  • saw all the episodes in 6th grade....brings bak memories man

  • I was in the background of the making of one of these episodes. It was the one that they got shipwrecked. I was at summer camp in maine on the island they were on. I helped cut down and debark the tree they used to fix the Mimi.

The whole cast stayed at the camp and ate with us etc while they were filming.

I actually got to stand around when they were doing the survival scenes. I remember them making these things to make condensation and there shelters. This was in the summer of 1982.

  • Sorry,Not sure if I posted this twice.

  • How come everyone saw this around the 5th grade? I remember seeing this and I knew who Ben was in 1999 but never seen any of his movies... weird.

  • Because it was made for that grade level, and CT was in fifth grade.

  • OHMEHGAWSH!!!! we watched the first part in 5th grade and the 2nd part in 6th grade.

  • We watch this show in my class in 6th grade every monday and wednesday.

  • Yes, Renner Middle School, in Plano, TX is still watching this today.

  • Show me where Dr. Hamlet touched you little Ben.

  • I used to watch this all the time in the 5th grade. It was kind of boring, but we were happy to watch T.V. in school. haha The theme song is still stuck in my head, so much that I whistle it sometimes when I'm driving..lol I had no idea that was Ben Affleck though (he was nobody back then)

  • I never had to watch this in school. I always used to watch this *after* school for fun. This show was one of my favorites growing up.

  • Yeaaaah! Brad Pit was in my old home town! Whoo!

  • yeah, we're still watching it!!!

when he became famous, i remembered his name from this (i had a crush on him).

  • i always watched that show, i never knew that was ben

  • holy shit the kid was ben affleck???

  • I watched this in 7th grade Geography class. Mimi is the shit! We get to sit there and no work at all. MIMI IS THE SHIT!

  • We watched it 4 years ago, so I'm sure it's still being shown. I will never forget the theme.

  • Why do schools have to torture children with this? I wonder if it's still being shown?

I remember after we watched the whole series, we went on a whale watch lol

  • We watched this in 5th grade! I still can't believe that's Ben Affleck for some reason. Never clicked.

  • I watched it in 5th grade too lol

  • he looks the same! the chin and mouth area :)

  • You all had to endure this too? Well don't feel bad. I was on that boat with you.. In 6th grade

  • i remember writing everything that happened in journals except i swear i thought every episode had to do with whales and i thought it was matt Damon or JTT that was on this hahah

  • We had to watch this too! Every week, and we had a quiz on what happened. It was wrong...sick and wrong. I remember one episode where they put up some kind of tarp which had created condensation and they drank it because they didn't have any water. Why do I remember this??

  • Honeygirl, that is the only episode I seem to remember too. really friggin' weird.

  • me too...strange

  • 6th grade... those were the days, man. we watched this shit in science class all the fucking time.

  • That's funny because I watched it in English class at the end of 6th grade. Man though, when my teacher said the kid was Ben Affleck I was like, "that's Ben Affleck?" After that I kept thinking, "wow, he looks so different!" Still, IMO The Voyage of the Mimi is pretty cheesy and very linear in terms of story. I mean like if the producers wanted to make an educational video, why didn't they just make a real one instead of making a cheesy mini movie? Anyway, Ben Affleck is a great actor. ♫♫

  • They seriously were the days...damn...I still can't get that fucking Voyage of the Mimi tune out of my head

  • I had to watch this as a kid in middle school years after it aired because I had a lazy creepy science teacher. There is one episode where he gets high in a presser chamber the air at on point contained nitrous oxide and ben got all goofy.

  • And his performances are just as sincere today.

  • man i wish i could go bak 2 fifth grade

  • lol saw this in 7th grade hah good time making fun of it :P...

  • haha, at the end, ben gave him a puzzled look....quite amusing

  • I couldn't see the similarity until 1:26 haha :)

  • lol, that's funny. I have to watch this in school everyday for science. I watched the 2nd (or is it 3rd) one today!

  • 5th grade

  • 6th grade...

  • ahhh 5th grade...goooooood timez

  • Wow!!! My sixth grade science teacher had us watch this video all the time. I didn't know that was Ben Affleck. Throwback 4 real.

  • It was aired here in Brazil, too, and was one of my favorite tv shows.

  • where can i buy this series? i have been looking for it forever. or at least where can i watch these online?

  • when they make educational films this good there is no reason to make more of them.

  • i remember 4th grad i watched this..

  • BEST MOVIE EVERRRRR!!!!!

  • i watched this in 4th grade too!! ('96)

  • ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    gooood timessss

  • lol i totally watched this in 4th grade...on laserdisc. lmao.

  • Holy cow. I remember this show, and I remember this episode ("I thought your body was always 98-point-6"). I used to watch it religiously.

I had no clue that this was Ben Affleck, though!

  • I remember thinking over and over just how much of the survival stuff I'd already learned in Scouts. Thanks for the clip!

  • I never heard of this show...he is is sooo young..I was in 6th grade.

  • I'll never forget that damn theme music as long as I live

  • I watched this whole thing in 5th grade. Haha, Ben Affleck.

  • I was at a mental hospital recently, and at the school there...we watched this series...the whole series. Now if only I could find Angry John...that would be great pooping material.

  • in 6th grade we had to watch this in science lmfaoo

  • WOW!! I remember this show! I used to watch this on PBS when I was a kid. I haven't seen this in ages!! Thanks for bringing it back!

  • my middle school still runs it :D

  • lol ben as a kid fuckin funny

  • i remember watching this in 5th grade. i remember thinking back then, "that blank eyed, open mouthed retard is going to grow up and have sex with two of the hottest women in hollywood." and i was right
