@lesuntzu early black keys stuff is a perfect example.
i don't know much about jeff the brotherhood, but what i've heard is good too.
there was a really amazing two-piece band from philly called victor victor band, a husband and wife. there's videos on youtube of em, i think.
death from above 1979 comes from a completely different style and instrumentation, but they're a perfect example of a "dynamic duo" that creates a remarkably tight wall of sound.
Most beginner garage rock guitarists ARE WAY WAY BETTER than this tonedeaf motherfucker!....LOL...LOL....!THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE TONEDEAF ENTERTAINING THE TONEDEAF!!Take guitar lessons ,jack, learn how to play, man!!!your musical vocabulary compared to an average persons communication skills from birth to age 40 is about 3 years old!!MOTHERFUCKER,GIVE UP!!....ROFLMAO.....EVERY SONG SOUNDS AND SUCKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ONE BEFORE!!
Hahahaha. 2.29 makes me laugh. The woman standing there in the crowd is acting all respectful with hands place over her pelvis probably thinking '' this music is making me orgasm''
I think that Meg's simplicity in drumming just makes the songs all that much simpler. If her drumming was complicated, then the song would be thrown off by her "fighting" the guitar. I don't think that's how they want their music to sound. Do you?
@weekendchannel2 specifically in this, i hear the digitech whammy, but idk what else. i know he also uses ehx big muff, pog and hog, but he avoids using too much else. as far as amps go, he favors the fender twin reverb and a silvertone...his eastwood airline contributes to his distinct sound as well
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT Nope, he has the original one, JB Hutto Montgomery Airline. Actually he has two of 'm, since he got one from a fan as a gift. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to play a reproduction, since they're probably way easier to play and in his words he 'wants it to be a struggle'.
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT they're actually both JB Montgomery Hutto Airlines, one with the knobs missing shown here. The old plastic guitar creates some of the lo-fi sound too.
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT He doesn't have both. The Eastwood is a cheap ripoff of the real airline. The only thin it has in common w/ the Airline is its shape.
@HipsterDog98 i disagree. ironically, the eastwood is a more expensive (talking original retail prices) and better made guitar (as far as the engineering and playability goes) than the original airlines haha
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT Well yes, of course the Eastwood one is better made. But It's nothing like the original. The Eastwood one is "technically" better, while the Kay one sounds and looks better and is a collector's item.
@blackmetalbanana I love that he uses crap guitars like Kays n silvertones n nationals, I hate all these strats n that.... i love cheaps crap guitars with loads of character. Lets face it whatever he plays it sounds wonderful !!!
Meg White is actually quite a good drummer it's just their appearance for her to be a poor drummer, to keep it primitive and simple. It's so Jack can go berserk and tear sh*t up!

@jaxdaka dude, just because she plays easy lines doesnt mean she cant play drums-.- and jack white is one of the most respected guitar players in music history. next time please get your facts straight before talking blödsinn ;)
God, he's such a tease when he plays, it drove me crazy when I first got into them.
He sets up all these cool sounds and then leaves them be, so simple and shit. Like classy women, from the golden years of Hollywood, just a little skin and flirty kind of things and you're taken.
i read all these comments about Meg not being a good drummer and its just so fucking stupid and pathetic! Who the hell are you? I dont see u rocking the free world like sweet little bad ass Meg White. Shes so cool-she makes music with Jack White!!! The White Stripes are by far the greatest band ever! Who's better? No one.
No one can drum like Meg. They can try, but they will fail :- I
Just like how it takes a lifetime to learn how to draw like a child, it's just as hard to drum like one. It's amazing and beautiful.. Unique :) They're a perfect match.
Guys (and Girls), does it matter if meg cant keep a beat? they still sound awesome. all the time. if meg was a super good drummer, the white stripes wouldnt be the white stripes. if jack didnt like meg as a drummer, she wouldve been gone a while ago! so who cares.
@TheYMGTCtv i think the reason she stayed in the band, (having never taken a drum lesson, and actually being a pretty bad drummer) is becuase they're married....
@Rambofan8 except she's not really a good drummer.... she never had any lessons, for some reason, i dont think she keeps it simple by choice, i think its cos thats all she can do

@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT Her energy and choices as a drummer are THE REASON the band exists. Thanks for the post BTW - let there be no love lost b/n youtube commenters.
@PinStripedGuy i know many people who would disagree with that statement. in a two-piece, it's less necessary, but in anything bigger, lack of uniformity in timing sounds like shit. a drummer's job is to drive the band, and a sense of control over timing is something generally a drummer can do. the most skilled drummers can adjust quickly to tempo changes, wind up and wind down without a problem, but that requires a mastery of tempo, which meg white doesn't have.
@mikepunchyourfucface *facepalm* now you're just acting closed-minded about music. technical music is intelligent music. soulful or heartful music is passionate music. too often, artists don't balance technicality and heart, but that doesn't mean there is any more or less merit to one than the other unless you're too blind to see either.

@chancayano it's very common for a live performance to be faster than a studio recording; adrenaline pumps, and faster tempo can express that. also, meg white's not a great drummer.

Did you know there's a little box up there ^^^ where you can type in something you want to watch, rather than making half-arsed, essentially meaningless comments ob videos no-one forced you to click on? And oh yes, i'm sure the white stripes are very similar to jacko..... in some weird way that you need the mental age of six to see. Think on mate...
@kindin10 Theres a LOT of good hiphop. Try to check out Wu Tang Clan or Common. I used to be like you towards rock until I realized how my close-mindedness kept me from a world of music.
@allahdivinecipher true that, i believe in order to best understand music, you've gotta find the good parts in it all. kinda like people. cept i'm sure a lot of people disagree with me
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT Totally! I completely agree with you. Some of my favorite music people would say sucks, like some of the hardcore punk i listen to, but I find enough good things in it to ignore the absense of musicality in it lol.
The lyric, at least on the album version, is "fight," but I will agree that it almost sounds like "fuck" here. Of course, he probably didn't, because it was on TV. But who knows? After all, the screaming less incoherent than hardcore.
Good ear, though, I like commentary like that. Thought-provoking. Keep em coming, guys.
ooh the way he moves around that stage, small that it may be, is so cool. Meg is so sexy with her expressions and drum style; Jack is slackin a little here but not in a bad way--I love that every performance from them sounds different. He cuts loose big time near the end. Damn good music!
Sorry for this shitty comment my little brother did it with my account. By the way I seriously creamed my pants on this video. It's hella awesome 19/10
Name another 2-musician band capable of doing this and then perhaps you could criticize Meg's drumming.

And oh yes, i'm sure the white stripes are very similar to jacko..... in some weird way that you need the mental age of six to see. Think on mate...

hip hop sucks
kindin10 2 years ago 56
@kindin10 i think ur refering to today's hip hop....old school hip hop isnt that bad
MrTheking19951 1 year ago 4
@kindin10 i think even Jack is open minded enough to disagree with you
44eelz 1 year ago
@kindin10 Theres a LOT of good hiphop. Try to check out Wu Tang Clan or Common. I used to be like you towards rock until I realized how my close-mindedness kept me from a world of music.
allahdivinecipher 1 year ago
@allahdivinecipher true that, i believe in order to best understand music, you've gotta find the good parts in it all. kinda like people. cept i'm sure a lot of people disagree with me
TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT 1 year ago
@TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT Totally! I completely agree with you. Some of my favorite music people would say sucks, like some of the hardcore punk i listen to, but I find enough good things in it to ignore the absense of musicality in it lol.
allahdivinecipher 1 year ago
@kindin10 Fuck off.
IT ROCKS!
by the way, awesome live! (L)
wendy1851 1 year ago
@kindin10 it does now it used to be good in the 90's and very early 00's. but now, yes it sucks
april101988 1 year ago
@kindin10 I agree, but what does that have to do with the video?
Katamari101 1 year ago
@Katamari101
sometimes when you listen to some hip hop you might think it isn't that bad, but after hearing the white stripes you know there is only one religion!

i think he does!
bernardobrj 2 years ago 2
no i googled the lyrics
song does sound different 2 on th cd tho
ramsay97 2 years ago
The lyric, at least on the album version, is "fight," but I will agree that it almost sounds like "fuck" here. Of course, he probably didn't, because it was on TV. But who knows? After all, the screaming less incoherent than hardcore.
Good ear, though, I like commentary like that. Thought-provoking. Keep em coming, guys.

ooh the way he moves around that stage, small that it may be, is so cool. Meg is so sexy with her expressions and drum style; Jack is slackin a little here but not in a bad way--I love that every performance from them sounds different. He cuts loose big time near the end. Damn good music!
julieswahn 2 years ago 8
that guitar and that muff pedal combination is a monster!

great intro, the white stripes are the best alive
grandbeachgang 2 years ago 7
its slopy , in the jack wite way , you can tell nuthings wrong tho , he means it to be like tht
personaly i think he plays n sings so perfect live like james hetfeild
scottish1337 2 years ago 4
but james hetfield is a poser who just sings the same way every song with no emotion who really sucks life (seen twice but was deeply dissapointed)
and jack's just greatness himself. Only pearl jam has been this great
MoonlightShadowlolz 2 years ago
also cinderella
they r great live
look em up
MotleyKid08 2 years ago
Jack is that way he also tries new things with his songs when he is playing live instead of trying to copy the studio songs just like they are
mathias1211 2 years ago 11
Well they used to, but hey they've been around much longer than white, can't blame them anymore.
