If you look back to the 1950's these oil countries were still riding camels, they are rich because of us, but they hate us. When the oil is gone they will be riding their camels again because they don't make anything, they simply exist off the oil profits.
If we did it Kerry's way, Bush/Cheney friends wouldn't be getting rich off the war machine, you know their friends that own the companies that make the weapons...good ridens to the GOP greedy bastards.
Agreed, but I think you can make the argument that calm and determination weren't what we went into Iraq with. It was a frenzy to kick-ass, and determination to end it quickly, like Desert Storm.
That is why i orginally commented about how i would have approached going after terrorists completely differnt from how the "war on terror" is being waged.
IMO the biggest flaw is that we are fighting an unconventional enemy with the conventional army which is like hoping to win a chess game with checker pieces.
We should use infiltration by highly trained, fiercly loyal arab-americans.
Had we an honest main stream media this would have been the national discussion following 9/11.
Well if you are in a position of authority such as the US presidency, you have to try to do something.
What's your solution? Do nothing? Spread a peace rainbow?
Who said anything about "kill all the terrorists" anyway? Not me. I think we definetly should be realistic about the situation and expect, no DEMAND, our gov go after those who actively plan to kill us but not in a way that inflames the world against us and by its approach generates even more terrorism.
Surrender, to who and for what? Your head is up Bush's ass, Bush created the mess we are in, we should hand him and Cheney a gun and let them get their asses blown off, and you can join them.
That's a good honest answer! I am not for Obama at all. Yes he is stupid but you are right, he is not stupid enough to take Kerry on board. One thing about democrats is...one strike and you are out. Kerry had is chance. It will be interesting to see who he asks to be 2nd in line. Thanks for the conversation!
describe relatively low gas prices ? & if i may continue who brought home the biggest 4th quarter profit in history ? an oil company -yea so ..thats bullshit. its not the truth its conveinient infotainment that supports your stance-shall I continue ?
Because after the Civil Rights movement the Republicans adopted a Southern strategy to win over the disgruntled racist dixiecrats. Democrats shunned these people while the Republicans embraced them.
Let's not forget the low Congress rating is due to your friends at the GOP blocking any legistation that would move our country forward instead of further in the ditch, which is exactly where the Republican Party has lead this country, namely our soon to be, not soon enough to be ex-president Bush. As for your other comments, it's more GOP bullshit.
Yeah maybe your right. Maybe your wrong. I would assume to also kill as many of bin laden followers as well in my hypothetical scenario. Not just one guy.
Look my overall point is there is a much more logical way to kill the terrorists who have pledged their lives to destroying America then invaded countries for oil.
Of course the "war on terror" is scam bcuz the actions of the bush adminstration prove it to be BUT the terrorists themselves are real and need to be dealt with.
Cenk should really finish this statement off with the real reason why Bush occupied Iraq. This is isn't an argument on what to do about terrorism. It was as an opportunity to take advantage of a tragedy and do something the neocons have been wanting to do for years... Occupy Iraq. That's it. I hate it when commentators make it about terrorism and then say look how stupid Bush was he had it wrong. No ..he lied about what his intentions were.
well i know that the bush family and bin laden family have business connections and the bush adminstration let all the members of the bin laden family fly out of the country after 9/11.
But i fail to see what that has to do with my point about how i would have combatted terrorism had i been president.
The truth is i dont think bush gives a rat's ass about finding bin laden OR fighting terrorists at all.
he knows he aint going be the one dying on ANY battlefield EVER and he laughs at us all.
As usual, the more hard-hitting, damaging and spot-on the TYT analysis is, the more conservative trolls come out of the woodwork for baseless bashing and personal attacks.
Kerry was right and this new plan is right about terrorism...but Bush and Kerry are all the same and all want the same thing. They wulda went 2 war after 9/11.
Democrats talk the talk, but when it comes down to it, they will bomb just as many brown people as the republicans, they will just justify it with "think of the children", rather than the republican "think of the oil prices". Look at the opinions of Obamas foreign policy guy, he is insane, he wants to bomb pakistan next, and wants to ratchet up the pressure on russia and china for more war.
That's funny cuz i was saying the same thing right after 9/11 as well.
It has always seemed obvious to me that the real way to win against foreign terrorists is to use our strength of ethnic diversity against them.
We would be far better protecting the arab-american community than scapegoating them. That way we could recruit them for work as counter-terrorists,infiltrators, and spies.
Had i been Prez in 2001, Bin Laden's head would have adorned the white house christmas tree by December.

False statements throughout this video alone.Uh,stuttering and stammering also. Just like Obama
Cenk didn't say that someone admitted that Kerry was right. Cenk was just talking about recent documentation that Robert Gates released in where he said that "terriosm should be more crime fighting than war fighting" and "we should be more sensitive of how we fight this war". These are talking points that John Kerry was saying back in 2004 when he was running for President. Bush and Chenney criticized Kerry heavily for having this type of strategy of fighting terrorism.
Surrender from what, don't you know the war on terrorism is a plot to fund a neverending war. It's more about halliburton than it is about terrorism, it's people like you who are so brainwashed you can't see the forest from the trees. The US needs to be in the middle east bcaus of the natural resources. If you want the war to end, sell your car and buy local!--I don't believe that different leadership would have evaded these conflicts for long.
The last 4 years of the Iraq war have been a total waste!! In 2003 the military leaders said we needed a surge. Took the Bushies 4 years to finally take that advice. Now John Kerry's advice from 4 years ago is finally being talked about in the Bush Administration.
And ya'll seriously want 4 years of McCain? The Republicans are completely incompetant with everything. The economy, nation building, illegal wars, enforcing the Constitution, etc.
Yeah, Naomi Klein pointed out that many key players made out very well in Iraq.
I think it's interesting that the Iraqi govt is not capitulating to Bush on the SOFA agreements Bush wants so badly. I think they, like the Iranians, are just trying to grit their teeth and wait out this administration.
I still seems like BushCo is going to be around for a long time. Lots of mischief they can still get into.
I'm not sure why you've gotten so many thumbs up for your comment. The surge had nothing to do with reduced violence in Iraq. It was the efforts of Captain Patriquin that produced the Anbar Awakening. God rest his soul. He was a true hero in every sense, who made the best out of a totally unnecessary situation.
Not to take away from the thrust of your comment, because I believe we're on the same page when it comes to McCain, but I just want to set the record straight about the surge.
Oh, I know that the surge certainly wasn't a main reason for the violence in Iraq going down. Your reason, paying our enemies cold hard cash, Bahgdad essentially being enthically cleansed, etc. all had bigger parts than the Surge did.
I was just using it as an example of the Bushies incompetance. I mean the Bushies (McCain included) just love to use it at every chance they get. So I like to point out that they wasted 4 years of the war to implement the "winning cause" of the war.
Rove milked terror for all he could - the politics of fear was easy to sell with the ignorant masses. It got Lord Mush a second term. Kerry didn't help himself in the 2004 campaign when he said he could fight the Iraq war better.
