for those that don't know and might wish to know: this is the Talvin Singh remix and can be found on the compilation album "cafe del mar" Volume 4 (volumen cuarto).
I'm making up a list of iPod faves to pipe through to passengers as I punt my 13-tonne bus through Sydney peak-hour traffic - and this HAS to be among 'em!
this song is pure class ,iv had this song on my play list for time ,but new nothing about him ,hes a poet and heaven will welcome him in .iam tingling as iam writing this post ,this track chills me to the bone .R.I.P big man iam your newest fan and thanks for that ..
my first time in England, 1972, a record shop on Oxford Rd, Manchester called The Black Sedan ( there simply weren't any shops like this in the small Irish town, Enniskillen I came from....Solid Air was playing on the PA..an entrance into into a different world.Go raibh maith agat John
The word 'crioch' seems rather fitting, now the Big Fella's reached his.......his music, however, lives forever and never reaches it's journey's end ;-)
loved this song as a teenager and was also mildly obsessed with the island of St Kilda, never got there tho but did get to Mingulay which is uninhabited like St Kilda
he'll never die... he just keeps going!! his voice when he was younger was great and i think his slurrish voice hes got now is just as good, sometimes i prefair it
A really lovely song. A very good video...if you like life jackets and boats and people with beards. Personally, all three bring me out in a rash. Nice anaoraks though!
Love his voice but much prefer his earlier work from the 70's and 80's. He's an absolute wreck now, saw him a couple of weeks ago, he can't walk on his false leg or sing because he's too fat and out of breath, managed to mumble his way through the entire concert,it was cringeworthy;couldn't even change his own guitar, what a waste, he'll be dead in a year unless he sorts himself out.Tragic!
@sleepypoodle I think waste is a bit wrong I understand what you mean but he caught Pneumonia and his leg he had just found one that he was comfortable with and he was cutting back on his alcohol intake then another bout of Pneumonia
@panzermort His prosthetic limb was uncomfortable because of his obesity and the pneumonia in his case was an opportunistic disease resulting from immunosuppression from years of drug and alcohol abuse, to die so relatively young was a waste, he also chain-smoked marijuana and was as stubborn as a mule - his own worst enemy, it must have been exasperating for those close to him who loved and cared about him to watch him kill himself slowly.
There was no sunshine there, But yes Love you John Martyn

Yep that sounds like John. You can see the similarities between johnny (too bad) and Dylan.
