  • Your one amazing Banjo player! Fantastic tune!!

  • @tallica1988 Thank You!

  • saw a great slide made from an old bone.... pretty unique.....

  • great idea thanks

  • did that glass slide work for ya?

  • It's a little big for my finger.. hahaha.. I'm still using the socket wrench..

  • cement banjo huh? probably not playable

  • Not, but I hear it exploded real good after they flung it. The flung a Deering Good Time, but it didn't break. Imagine that.. hahaha

  • Loving the fast foreward effect haha.

  • What fast forward? I just work really fast... Just joking..

  • A True Car Guy!!!

  • Keep on pickin'!

  • Here rpeek, I made a slide for my guitar out of a piece of 3/4 in. diameter copper tubing out of our old heating system. I cut it, ground off the rough edges, and polished it, and it sounds pretty good. But pretty good to me could be anything...

  • That sounds like a good idea... I've got a piece of copper pipe out back.. I might saw it up and file it down and try it.. Thanks.. Why don't you play us a song with it..

  • All right...

    Wont sound as good...

  • Don't matter. Still would like to hear it.. It's all for fun anyway.

  • rich, i think its cool, but your also pretty cool. you the mcguyver of banjo playing

  • hahahaha.. Well, I haven't blown anything up yet.. hhaha.. Maybe I'll have to work on that..

  • that would make for a good youtube video, banjos and random explosions..

  • We had a festival up here a few years ago where they flung a banjo from a catapult. The results weren't satisfying enough, so they made a banjo out of concrete and flung that. It exploded nicely on impact, so I hear.....

  • who was that friend of yours talkin bout the breakin the bottle for a bottle neck slide?

  • edds520. He's got a youtube video where he makes one out of a wine bottle neck. check it out..

  • I broke the neck off an old wine bottle to make a slide (saw a tutorial video on youtube) by wrapping petrol soaked string round the neck. Works well but I can't play with the ruddy thing.

  • I'm going to try make one of those broken bottle slides too, soon as I get a little time..

  • wow u r amazing with that banjo every time u play i wanna learn so no thanx 2 u im gunna tery and find me a banjo and try and learn how 2 play oh and gret dirty slide :) LOL

  • hahahaha.. Okay then. Can't wait to hear you play..

  • Cheapest slide I ever saw was when a neighbor of mine just butterflied a couple of aluminum beer cans, folded the sharp edges in, folded the whole thing to proper width, rolled it tight on a socket head with about the same girth as his finger, then welded the seam with a light touch from a plumbing torch. After he slid it off the socket, he painted it chrome & etched his initials in large script with a glass scorer. Cheap, pretty, & recycled.

  • That's cool...

  • Hey, when is the greatest hits record coming out? :)

  • That's pretty far down on my list.. haha

  • I hadn't thought of a socket! I always remembered the bottle necks, and using a piece of copper tubing.

Wonder what a black-oxide socket would sound like?

A real deep spark plug socket would get you that extra length. Just need to find one that isn't knurled.

I've been wanting to make a brass one. The next time I put a order in for metal, I may tack on a piece!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks.. Let me know how it works.

  • You're a great player. Like the way you make do with almost anything!

  • Thank ya..

  • What's cool is the video! I like the fast motion grinding part.

  • What fast motion? I just move really quick when I grind.. haha

  • I've often used Sears Craftsman sockets as slides, but never had the inclination (or the tools) to cut one up.

I also prefer glass, but I kept knocking them over and breaking them, so I put a piece of velcro on the slide and another on the back of my headstock. When I'm not using it, I just stick it on there and it's ready for my solos.

  • That's a cool idea. Thanks.

  • I just bought a bottle of Toasted Head Wine just because the neck is long and straight. Looks like it'll make a good slide.

  • You da man! I'm going to make me one.. haha

  • Hey, Rich. I have a glass slide that I have never used. I play guitar but never learned to "slide" it.

I would be happy to send it to you, no charge.

Reply to my email and I will set it up with you if you are interested.

    Blessings,

    George
