Seriously. If you think Hypercars is about speed or acceleration you're dead wrong. They are simply the purest expression of the feelings of the designers, engineers and workers who made them.
Hypercars aren't about bang for the buck. They are about expression and emotion.
You even said it yourself. The Hypercars are great in corners. That's where they come into their own. That's where all the money gets sunk into. Suspension, brakes and a proper sequential gearbox.
And You've probably stripped that 240SX completely to maximize drag-times. Well the Huayra has the most exquisite leather, the most fantastic center-console milled out of aluminium and frankly the switches look a bit like a clarinet (i.e. really nice).
Not to mention a drag-strip is probably the most boring race-track ever devised (only rivaled by the oval).
If I want to push a car I'd want to push my own capabilities in the process. Meaning I'd want hairpin turns, fast sweepers, tight chicanes, and blind corkscrews. I don't merely wanna floor the accelerator and dump the clutch. I wanna dance with the car, nail the perfect breaking point and racing line.
Driving Silverstone for one. Nailing the perfect line through the Maggots and Beckett's complex.
And in any case. A Drag-race is really short. It's only about 8 seconds. GT-racing or Track-days are mostly hours of constantly pushing yourself to the limit, squeezing as many mili-seconds out of every braking point, every corner, every acceleration, every racing-line.
I'd rather experience the thrill of taking a Ferrari by the scruff of the neck and show it some corners.
Just by driving a normal car I can tell you what part of the journey I like the most. It's the corners mate. Felling the car dance from corner to corner is the most magnificent feeling you can have behind a wheel.
I was talking about components (engines, turbos, gearboxes, suspension units, brakes, materials).
A dragster may handle 0-200 km/h on 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 375 km/h. But after those 8 seconds of noise it'll need a complete overhaul (clutch will be shattered, engine will be cooked and compressor will have welded itself shut).
An endurance racer needs to do 325 km/h for roughly 12 hours without fault if it is to win.
Such a huge fan of your productions. Still think it is so amazing that you guys are based in my favorite town in Austria....Berwang. Can't believe it, the world is so small, yet very big. These shortfilms are so beautifull it's all I can dream being a camera operator myself.
