Not sure how "power cranks" (I guess it's a bike) is going to help your running form. Sprinting is different from long distance running. Although that isn't mentioned in this video. While heel striking is a huge negative for sprinters, it is common for long distance runners.
in the 2004 Olympic Women's Marathon, nearly all runners ran heel-toe, with Paula being the exception. I think the "pro" runners, have a quick turnover, that's why they can do heel-toe. IDK really, I'm a forefoot striker.
it really works i have tried and the performance increases with this cranks only problems lies in the you should not leave it the muscles memory they say it is important as one automatically adjusts to it
I believe that for marathoners - unless you're an elite - increasing your mileage is the way to go; specific faster pace running is for later I guess.
makes so much sence! why bother in the gym..waste of time! this baby is the real deal! I keep breaking my p.r. by a half hour each time. This is no joke! hard at first and then actually it gets to be fun!
So, you COULD part with your life savings and get a machine like this, OR you could also go out and run and focus on proper form, which will come with practice. I choose the latter.
I think the point is that most people are not able to make the subtle changes to their form that are required to really beat their records. Obviously marathoners are already focusing on good form - the question is *how* do you improve it? Practice alone, as the video specifically points out, doesn't give the feedback that setting world records require...
there's absolutely no reason to buy this unless you've got a LOT of extra money- no doubt it would help running form, which Alberto Salazar does, being backed by Nike, but there are many many other ways to improve form without dropping 2000 clams. The excercise that they show here could be duplicated if you have a bike with clip in pedals- when you pedal, instead of just pushing down, as most people do, also pull up with the foot that is traveling upwards.

There is nothing like a real thing.
You can do leg lifts all you want, but actually riding the bike is a natural thing to do.
The transition is not easy.
Have no false expectations- there will be PAIN

I'm not going to listen to a nooby sprinter. Sprinting is just luck and how fast you are, but distance is a test of skill and endurance.
sentrynebri 3 years ago
Are you stupid? People who do endurance have a different muscle twitch fibre as people who do sprints. It can be equally as hard.
HokageLeafVillage 3 years ago 2
yeah but people who do endurance are crazy i wouldnt like to rune 10 kilometers
shegar2011 3 years ago
10km is not considered a lot for endurance runners... its like avg, not easy but not too long either

I'm a distance runner. I think sprinters are amazing. I can't sprint for my life.

you have to dorsiflex, which not ppl find it natural to do, only those with skinny lower legs because the tendon is so long that makes it natural.

I don't have the money for the machine so I will try to mimic the motion and hope for the best.

From what I understood it is a kind of bycicle machine that corrects the running position by forcing your foot to make the circular movement...
