oh yea and the event is in england at detling showground (and a lot of candian fencible regiments wore the same uniform as brit regulars as a action of pride and in order to give the impresion of there being more regualars at the battle
ok in terms of units first is teh 71st highlad light infantary (cross hatch on shako) then its the 3rd buffs (cuffs, collar and very uniquely the crossbelts) and then the buffs regimental colours then whe get the 79th highlanders (dark green cuffs, collars and reverse drummer jacket) now i cant be sure is the yellow facings based on my knowledge of the units in distance to detling (the event shown) it it will either be the 9th norfolks or the 44th essex then at the end its my mob the 50th foot
i would think it would be more accurate to say canada is part of the commonwealth and not a colony...americans didnt refer to the british as british or redcoats they called them the regulars or lobsterbacks
Looks like a bunch of units (historically speaking) at least 3 different line infantry or fencibles, a couple of highlander uniforms (they don't need kilts to be highlanders) there is the 95th rifles and the two guys at the end look like they might by in 60th rifle uniforms, though they could just be cleaner looking 95th rifles.
British regiments did as pleased in 1812 - should be down though for sarjents.
last regiment is 95th foot most likely aka the rifles. 1st has buff facingseg 3rd regt/kent buffs , then a scottish regiment then a yellow facing regiment eg 9th regt/norfolk
yh duude brittish stripes do point down, they always have. and every british regiment in the napoleonic society has its stripes pointing downwards as regulation states they should, and i know that coz i am a member of the 23rd foot (royal welch fusiliers) group
The units involved look like the 95th Rifles, 68th Durham light Infantry (who are ENglish re enactment units) though there are the 79th, and 2 or three other groups there that Im not sure if the are European, UK, American or Australian.
Sorry but seriously how do you not know who they are? Do you not know even a bit of history? even when i was 8 i knew British soldiers were Redcoats. :l
Sorry, but did you actually read the comment that I was replying to. I know full well what nationality the uniforms represent. What I didn't know was WHO THE REENACTMENT GROUP WAS.
Tiwaz81 said that they were the 95th Rifles, 68th Durham light Infantry. I said that I didn't know if they were or were not.
dude, we're all heard "The Redcoats are coming, the Redcoats are coming often enough".
Buddy, Canadians and British have the same troops, even to this day. Have you not seen the Canadian redcoats? I am a dual citizen with Britain and Canada, and I have seen the identical dress of both soliders.
@Binfieldius Thats why we should have let Germany conquer you. What an ingrate you are! Involvement in another British war? Never again for us Yanks! The Queen is an inbred welfare recipient. You can have her!
and as a final comment stripes on musicians were upside down on the sleeves only

There's some very sloppy marching there. They need the lash about them. That would soon put a spring in their step. By God, I'd have their hides!

Go Canada go. They look just like the Royal Canadian Nova Scotia Grendiers.

I don't pretend to know the first thing about Napoleonic insignia, but the footage was shot in Europe. Maybe a dumb European?
