  • have seen so many bands but really wish I had seen Free, One of my all-time favourites!

  • Boro created Paul Rogers tommule69.

  • Legends one and all

  • PERFECT

  • it's my favourite Free album...even better than "Highway" ...mr Bundrick ...i mean Rabbit was essential in this last Free album... i've heard his 1977 album with Crawler... and it's such a great record... i just try to imagine if... Free did not split up with Rabbit still in the band in 74 with the "Japanese" Free rythmic section and well a new guitarist... maybe even Ralphs (why not!?)... it was destined to do some classics ... musically closer to an hypothetical Free than Bad Company

  • kossof didnt even play on it as i remember !!

  • @platty1177 Kossoff was on the album, sporadically. Played lead on this song.

  • a lot of people missed out seeing one note koss, as he was known for his prolonged note on the title track Fire and Water, its a must to listen to.miss you free, bad co,peace and the firm.seen you all.

  • One of the best

  • Chills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • then god created free

  • then there was free

  • imagine clapton or page playing that solo?no fucking chance!koss=best british guitarist ever ps who's messed with the solo on this version? they should be shot

  • Really Great!!! Sure can tell though how 'Rodgers" continued on soon after with 'Bad Co,' without barely skippin a beat (so to speak). I hear it all over this tune. Thx.

  • Paul Kossof plays guitar on Come togheter in the morning, Heartbreaker, Travellin in style, Common Mortal man and Seven Angels according to the credits on the back cover of the Heartbreaker album. Snuffy plays guitar on Easy on my soul.

  • YES!!!!

  • sound sad,,,love it

  • actually the lead guitar parts were played by a texan guitarist called snuffy walden a mate of rabbitts

  • @boog560 No, not on this track. Paul Rodgers has often commented on Paul Kossoff's performance on this song.

  • @secret400 yes i agree his playing on this track is spellbinding he is also superb on seven angels

  • @secret400 yes i agree his playing on this track is spellbinding he is also superb on seven angels walden only filled in when koss was out of it

  • @boog560 N o the guitarist died of drug overdoes

  • Has anyone got any video of Free doing ' Morning Sad Morning'?

  • There is no one else to take your place. so sad.

    We miss Koss and Free.

  • @Andreagear4 Free will always be the best band ever! but checkout tonsofsobsnaomi and I guarantee that you will think Koss has returned. the guitarist is superb. To begin with just listen to their version of The Hunter you will not be dissappointed. yes they are japanese but they also love Free

  • It´s a very sad song from Free.

There is no one else to take your place.

    We miss Koss and Free.

  • i loooooove this...

  • Great track...Rodgers is superb ..great solo at the end by Kossoff..ironically,one of the few bits of his playing they kept in the album..He was so far gone with the drugs they cut out most of his stuff out (Rodgers played most of the guitar on the album)

  • Thanks for posting this. I used to play this to death in the Pool Hayes Comp 6th form common room in 1973/74. In my opinion, it was the best thing that Free ever did. So slow and moody...

  • Mourning Sad Morning is another slow moody tune.. makes me sad but I love it like I do this !!

  • What A Great Song & Very Heartfelt!!! 5*s Thankyou....Anita...

  • this is a top tune,,shame its remastered..without the koss magic touches! Free forever!

  • I dont think theres a better band.

  • you may be right chris,,free are up there with the other legends,,,free being one of them ofcourse,,

  • It just doesn't get any better than this..

  • Brilliant music, but so sad.

  • @pegleyjr Beautiful and haunting. Kossof's playing is just magnificent

  • @pegleyjr

My Dad died in 1981 when I was @ Uni - I played the Best of Free constantly for weeks after and especially this track. I never saw them live - so wish I had.

  • what a great tune!!!

  • yes this is that rare coming together of an iconic band, ie,beatles, badfinger, just to name two, but take it from me,badfinger are only just at the, starting grid, because they have that special ingredient, natural talent, that eventually even overrides bent bastards like stan polley,

  • Possibly the best solo ever. This song is in a league of its own.

  • I just like the fact that it's so fluid and chimey. It's subjective really.

  • There are numerous great guitarists past and present and to argue who was the best is futile we all have our own tastes and our own favourites..my favourite is Paul Kossoff..so much feel straight form his heart to his fingers God bless him.

  • I still think Free are one of the most under-rated bands in history.

  • @felixstoweblue i comp;ete;y 100% agree with u there. ur so correct

  • @felixstoweblue - wow 13 thumbs up for me ? Cool!

  • bueno "venas picadas" Kossoff.

  • tausend dank für den schönen song

  • Wonderful stuff from an iconic British Band.
