  • deus ex was about nano technologie in the human body, this trailer might be hinting that a new type of technologie to modify humans is here. (i remember when playing deus ex,after freeing an agent he mentionned his employer giving him the most higly advanced nano technologie for his body)

  • @loomba300 Do you remember Gunther and Anna Navarre? They were mechanically augmented. This is in the past so they use older and clumsier techniques for augmentations.

  • @BaconIsOverrated did you know that comment was 3 months old :O so AT THAT TIME THERE WASNT MUCH NEWS ON THIS DEUS EX,so how am i suppose to fucking know that its a prequel ?

  • @loomba300 Aren't you getting a bit too riled up about this? Also, it was well known at least one year ago that this would be a prequel.

  • Am I the only one that thinks the fetus is not a character, but a metaphor mainly hinting at what the theme behind DX3's story may be?

  • 75% of people think of that

  • whats that tune that starts at 0:48 i know its a dues ex tune

  • hmm if the makers of this game and trailer are putting that much attention and detail into stuff like this you know the end result will be good :D

    nice vid

  • We can hope. On the other hand, the marketing of this game may be more robust than the development.

Regenerating health bars don't seem to be compatible with the expected Deus Ex gameplay.

  • looks like a nano/biomechanicaly augmented Grey alien baby

  • co to ma kurwa byc do chuja wafla skurwysynskiego mialo byc gameplay ty dziwko

  • a mech eh ?

    i wanna be Gunther !

  • I read up on deus ex 3 on wiki i think and they said they already have a storyline with is like 25 years before numba 1(i think) and bio mods are used and this game leads up to unatco being formed. However dont hold me to this wiki may not be true.

  • Jesus christ dude, you unbelieveble crazy into this. Good job

  • wtf is this all bt

  • It's difficult to tell where the machine ends and the (wo)man begins. Could the entire fetus be artificial? We see nothing of a womb around the fetus or an umbilical cord, and it would be difficult to augment a live fetus in the first place.

To me this seems more possible than augmenting a fetus, as replacements and upgrades would be a nightmare as the biological parts grow.

Question is, why create an artifical fetus? Wouldn't a full sized android be better?

  • Artificial Intelligence is lacking. AI cannot act on a hunch, or think in abstractions nearly as well as a human can in much less time. Humans getting implants--artificial this and that--and then the implants get more sophisticated, and more sophisticated, until everybody has them, and there are people who need to get very special augmentations to make them capable of competing and winning over the rest of the augmented society. Culminating in augmenting a fetus for basic survival in the world.

  • What Source Is This From ?

Remember That Splitting The Atom Was Once Unfeasable

  • itd be funny if you play Walton Simons lol

  • Hmm, if it is going to be a prequel, maybe the could should more mech augs and a younger Gunther & Anna. I hope the main character would be a mech, or at least a hybrid mech/nano aug. As it would be interesting to play through their point of view. ^_^

  • exelent analys

  • interesting. nice analysis as always. I just wonder what this say about the game. augmented people will be a new hategroup they will be treated as jews and the chinese during WW2, they will probably start an underground terroristforce, like IRA, war in the streets, bombs and mayhem. people living in fear, trying to make due with life.

another question is are you a protagonist or antagonist in the story? agent for the early UNATCO? or just a guy/girl caught in the middle? just curious...

  • maybe you should get one because people do have hobbies like video games and like discussing them. obviously you dont see that

  • Ever heard of a subject called Cinema Studies? It is taught in Universities. People that love film and see more in films than what is obvious do it. Well, this is similar. Instead, here, we are analysing a game, which is another medium.

People do these sort of things because they are passionate about something. Maybe you should become passionate about something? It certainly will make your life better.

  • And possible everybody else's.

  • I'm passionate about wrestling does that help?

  • what a shame

  • Great Analysis once again, really looking forward to Deus Ex 3. I just hope they know what they're doing, but with all the deep meanings in these trailers I think they do.

1:02 scared the crap out of me, I had my volume turned way up =P

  • agein great job 5 stars

  • how will what grow? the nanobots?

  • I thought Gunther was just an earlier version of JC, just JC's augmentation was covered up better like he says his vision is augmented, in deus ex one gunther and anna nivara are refered to as 'mechs' and jc is refered to as a 'nano aug'

  • JC's augmention were not like Gunther, Gunther was pretty much a Cyborg.

JC is a human with nanobots in his body that enhance his body. Yes he does have things like implants, but aren't entire limbs like Gunther.

This does look it could be a mix of both the old tech and the new, since I'm pretty sure they never grow Gunther or Anna with these implants.

Also how will these things grow with the body?

  • The difference between nano-augmentation and mech-augs like Gunther and Anna are that the procedure for creating mech-augs is very invasive and obvious. Nano-augmentation is done with nanites in the bloodstream to work form the inside out. It is subtle and much more effective. I'm pretty sure the mechs were not grown from birth but taken away from and added to later in life, so I don't think this video refers to any early mech-augs like Gunther, but some other type of earlier experiment.

  • Yeah I'm sure in the original Deus Ex there's an e-mail mentioning the sacrifices the Mech-augs had to make.

  • Yes. I can remember something similar in UNATCO HQ. I hope they don't lose the excellence in the first game. Invisible War is a let down. And it shouldn't be released EVER on Xbox! :P

  • Well, since Deus Ex 3 is a prequel that takes place hundreds of years before the first episode, there won't be anything like nano-augmentation.

    All augmentations will be cyborg-like.

  • Where the HELL did you get hundreds of years? This takes place in 2027, Deus Ex 1 takes place in 2052.

  • You are right, my fault. I must repair my memory implants ;)

Anyway, i'm still right about the fact there is no nano-aug.

I'll quote the developers themsleves: "Nanotechnological augmentations have yet to be developed and biomechanical augmentations are the current state of the art".

  • I meant themselves. I guess i must repair my spelling engine, too.

  • That's right, there won't be anything like nano augs. Hopefully we'll see Gunther as a young man. OH, and Barrett will die right away.

  • yh this is a prequel, that could mean that the technology with all the biomods aren't there yet:(

  • WHY would they do a prequel? half the fun of the second game was comparing its setting to the first.

  • Who knows.

Prequels are just trendier, i guess.

Also, it's easier for newscomers to the game if it doesn't have too many references to the previous episodes, since some gamers aren't old enough to remember them.

  • True True

  • Well it's easy...because the second game SUCKED BIG TIME!

Even Warren Spector said they listened to the wrong people that claimed Deus Ex 1 was bad and too complicated.

I am looking forward to the new one and I am really excited about this whole prequel thing, it's much more exciting to see how this whole story develops and then leads to the story of Deus Ex 1.

  • I'm most interested by the fact that this appears to be a Fetus. The comparison to Gunther is made, but from DX1 it is clear that he was obviously augmented throughout his life. So this would have to be someone grown in a lab or perhaps even stranger (and more interesting) someone actually being born with augmentations. Just a random thought.

  • I hope JC will return. I loved that guy; reminded me of Clint Eastwood: few words but all of them meaningfull.

  • What a shame.

    A bomb!?

    Suuure.

  • amplified music indeed, i shit my pants when that happened

  • Cool, this anatomy book interests me! Thanks.

I hope this game is worth the excitement.

  • All this talk of it being a prequel are, in me oppinion, rubbish. Deus ex is about the most free-form game ever, so having it set in the past wouldn't make any sence because all the events have already happened.

Also, having mech upgrades of a fetus wouldn't make sence because the child would be growing so fast that you'd have to replace them about every few weeks. And seeing that some of them are attatched to it's spine that isn't a practical option.

  • Gunther is advanced in his own way too, the difference is that most parts of his body is created separately then attached later on. cyborg technology

Augmentation upgrade is an improvement of an original existing organ.

So we expect to see "limb replacements" here

  • This can't be mech. Looks like embryo, so this gotta be somethin' ... dont even know. amazing. crossbreed.

  • I think it can't be Gunter nor Anna... They both born as a normal human, only later become cyborgs. I can imagine it's an Omar, but hope it's not.

I think it's a clone or child of JC Denton. It won't be an augmented human, but born as an augmented person!

  • Words are that the third would be a prequel. So, no Omars right?

  • universal ammo sucks. hope they don't have it in this game

  • I don't know what they were thinking. Use the same ammo for your pistol for your rocketlaunchers and flamethrowers, too? It shows that, even if it is a good sign of the more sophisticated nanotechnology in the second game, that the designers were rushing.

  • they dumbed the game down for the console tards. If they make Deusex 3 like that I won't play it.

  • Sad story. It ruined the game. But it had happened before, when Black Isle decided to make a console shooter out of the role-playing game Fallout. Black Isle is gone and it's mother company Interplay is bankcrupt today, barely managing with the money they received for selling the licence to Bethesda. I think, Ion storm has had some big financial problems, too, thanks to Deus Ex 2. So, don't ignore your fans or they mess you up. A lesson many devellopers seem to ignore today.

  • How awesome wouldn't it be to play as a Omar?

  • It wouldn't be awesome at all to not play as an Omar.

  • Can't wait for this game :B , hope they re-use the old inventory , damage-system and some all time favourites like Anna navarre or Gunter hermann... Really loved the original , liked IW and hope that this will shine as bright as the original did.

  • Don't know if we will see Anna or Hermann unless they take it to israel or something..

  • The voice actor who played Gunter died a few years ago, sadly.

  • NUUUUUUuuuuuuuu..... That's sad news :(

  • What was the actors name? I forget and would like to find out more.

  • No! He was my favourite! He can't be dead!

  • Agreed. You'd be invincible.

  • lol, nah it wouldn't. u just compeletely told that guy.

Loved the vid, im exstatic about deus ex and hav played for ages, 3 is gonna rule!!!!!

  • Possibly an Omar?

  • Looks great

  • Me our protagonist will be a woman or child named Emilie!! Hehe all this subliminal info that we missed is getting me all giddy for this game!! Looks sorta creepy kinda like the matrix sorta stuff hopefully there is a little scare/future shock factor in the game to really get the ol' noggin thinkin!! Awesome analysis though cool cool stuff

  • very, very good observations. gameplay sounds like but im still anxious about the story. I would be awesome if you could choose to be a mech, augmented human (like walter simons or jc, and an additional character something else(someone give me an ideas) . It would have to be along the lines of reasonable and believable. Maybe a robot? hmmm. no. It would still have to be human somehow.

  • I love that remix can you show me where you got it?

  • It isn't a remix. It's an EndGame track from the original DX.

  • really? I guess it's just been that long since i've played it <.<.

  • I wonder when the greys will make their appearance.

  • I love this game and the huge conspiratorial and futuristic plot revolving around it. Definitely one of the best multi-elemental role playing games I've ever played. Deus Ex 2 was a bit of a disappointment but the original first game was breathtaking in it's gameplay and storyline..

  • initially i thought that the [03] probs suggests the third denton which would make it the suquel , however i forgot about paul

  • Paul was made first, JC 2nd and Alex from DX2 was 3rd. But now were going to play as Jean-Francois Sissypants a.k.a Emile. I wonder if there be an Surrender augmentation...

  • The first page of that book there's the name; Andreas Vesalivs.

    Vesalivs = VersaLife. Yes.

  • sorry, what book?

  • I believe he means Humani Corporis Fabrica.

  • I'm still very confused by what this trailer shows, and what Eidos has in store for us.

Aren't augmentations to the body done after birth? Because at the moment, the game to me can still be a prequel or sequel.

What the game may be focused around is fetus development, with mechanical implants(Sorry, this is probably obvious), which would be quite a revolutionary feat, and controversial(Referring to some of the flashing images).

Anyway, I wish for another trailer soon, need answers =).

  • So, in DX3 were going to play as a french mech-augmented guy?

  • Emile sounds like a female name.

  • I dunno, i think they'll find a way for it to work for both male and female, or maybe you're just a girl who knows. I mean, you can name a boy Ashley. Maybe, if it is a man, he's a girly man.

  • Well, I haven't played any of the Deus Ex games and I saw both of your videos and the games seem very interesting.

  • You should get into it.

  • Gray language? I thought it was confirmed in Deus Ex that the Grays were simply genetically engineered monkeys (they were referred to as transgenics) but then again I never played Invisible War.

  • Play it then.

  • Thanks for this video post, it has made me even more eager for Deus EX 3 :)

One thing though for next time. When you do Humani Corporis Fabrica or find any other relative discovery, please do not scare the crap out of me with amplified music and flashing pictures :P, even though it did prove the importance of what you found.

  • We NEED you guys on Facebook to support the studio. Join group "Deus Ex 3 - Eidos Montréal forum". Thank you for your attention.

  • The book's title is apparently latin for "about kindness fleshly manufacture".

  • this is really intresting... let's hope edios makes more of these trailers.. so people can get more info about it :) great work

  • well of course they will, but in due time

  • Interesting. Here's hoping that DX3 will actually be great in both story and gameplay aspects!

  • I think there is no co-incident that the fetus is named "Emile". Just Google or do a Wiki on Rousseau's book "Emile". I belive that the Emile-fetus could be the main character in the game. In the Emile books, the main theme tries to tell the reader how educate a child into the society. Perhaps the mech-aug projects backlashed, the public opinon swayed and you (as Emile) will have to confront the society in which you once was admired as a God, an ideal citizen.

  • That's an amazing theory, well done. I agree.

  • Exellent research!!! It makes sense! I think we will have to wait one year to see if your theory is true though...

  • great job man

  • agree

  • Sorry to hear Mr Warren Spector is not on the creative team.DX2 may not have been as fresh and origional as its forebear but it still makes for an excellent game.I agree with Chrisdc8,DX needs a solid base in reality to make it believable,ie it needs to show us the world we recognise albeit some plausible changes.Liberty Island,UN,NYC Street life etc

  • Fantastic, and I have to agree with Chrisdc8, part of what was great about DX 1 was stuff like the UN where you could relate it to now. Seemed to make the conspiracy theories etc far more.. interesting I guess

  • Humani corpori fabrica means "workshop of the human body" or "fabric of the human body" - the book's tittle was an allusion to the Latin.

  • That's an amazing amount of detail and observation. How did you examine the foetus images so closely?

  • High Definition version of the trailer.

  • Once again, nice work.

And why do I feel very unhappy looking at the fetus, it disturbs me alot -- whatever modification on it unsettles me because of how alien it makes it feel, especially for a unborn baby.

  • The solution is that it's very new. It must be a Mech-Aug.

  • Reminds me of ghost in the shell. I hope they follow a different story this time. One of the things I disliked about IW is it seemed far too removed from now, whereas DX still had institutions like the UN.
