  • "You know how drummers get... when they start singing.."

    Ha. xD

  • phil should have told bono to fuck off

  • Well, Phil deserves the "disrespect"

  • HILAR

  • Disrespecting????? Seriously lad don't ever come to Ireland or you will be in tears if you are this sensitive!

  • great u2,,,great bono,egde,adam,larry...u2 perfect,,,great drunk,,i really love to be in there in this time,,,u2 love portugal,,,zootv change my life 4 ever

  • We've all been there, drunk in a pub talking shite at 1.30am........ Great video. looks like a nice cosy pub. Love to be there now!

  • Im think they are wery rude

  • "You know how drummers can get when they start singing" &

the old bartender is "A big fan of your music and so are our parents".

That's not disrespect, just drunken "wit". Between friends, even. People who don't like each other don't make those kind of jokes.

  • Bono is a little Wanker.

  • Phil Collins opening for U2? Make that co-headlining with U2 and I will pay ANYTHING to see it!

  • Joke or not, it was quite lame..

  • i think phil handled that pretty well,,,the boys were well on and havin a laugh,,,,dont think he took offence

  • wankers.

  • Was this in the Dockers pub in Dublin ?

  • You can tell this is staged

  • Phil Collins, what a Bell-end.!!!

  • that is hilarious, edge is fucked!!!

  • This would never happen now! Drinking and smoking on TV!!!

  • @alexanderjbf Indeed, my friend,indeed...

  • My mom liked Phil too. :)

  • Like U2 and Genesis

  • too many haters.

    these dudes all know eachother

    they're having fun.

    stop being stupid

  • come on, how many stupid things have we done while being drunk? it was just a joke! phil doesn't wipe his bum with u2's albums, and u2 don't wipe their bums with phil's, they're both great

  • thats a funny video haha..but i dont think they were really dissing phil at all

  • And they get inducted into that kind of important thing called the Rock'n'Roll hall of fame.

  • @mc28x Yeah like Dave Grohl except they also have 150 million solo albums sold and a 150 million albums sold with a band(Genesis) and has 8 number one hits in the US. And also they star in a movie which boasted a number one single(Two Hearts), and they have a number one album(No Jacket Required). And they perform in front of 500,000(Rome 2007) and they become the only person besides Phil Collins to ever perform in 2 continents (Europe-Wembly Stadium- and North America-JFK Philly) in one day. An

  • U2?? lol... Phil Collins is a fuckin LEGEND... and he could EASILY wip his ass with their cd's...

  • lol I think everybody's getting crazy about this. Their "gang" was just a "gang of buddies", not like Crips or something. And you may notice Collins seemed to play along with quite a lot of it, he has a great sense of humor, just very subtle.

  • Did Adam say, "After the potato we got into the satellite dish." ?

  • @TheAlbinoPlatypus HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA YES he did!

  • oh phil collins is not the one who can get dissed by u2 -- at least not more than a father can be dissed by his 14 old puberty shaken son ))

  • I remember I saw this live, and even though I was more of a U2 fan than a Phil Collins fan, I felt really badly for phil. Tough to have to take that kinda crap on live TV! He handled it really well (by ignoring it) and I started to have a lot of respect for Phil after that night. (Now I'm a big fan of him--early Genisis anyway).

  • Bono is definitely hammered.

  • It's all a matter of opinion I guess.

  • U2= pretentious, arrogant, a-holes. I refuse to listen to even a note of their misic. And this was before seeing this video. Now I hate 'em even more.

  • @N1095A how can u hate them. they r one of the best.

  • Comment removed

  • @N1095A News flash no one really gives two shits what you think

U2 is one of the humblest bands around.... they are practically the only band who has been around 30+ years with the same 4 people now as back then...arrogant bands (Guns N Roses etc.) are the ones who break up or lose key members....know what the fuck you're talking about next time douchebag.

  • @wolfennyc It looks, Numb nutts, like you give at least a shit what I think. News flash for you, Any grown man who calls himself "The Edge" is a pretentious asshole. You can like who ever you want. Leave me alone and go whack off to your posters of Bone-o and The Edge.

  • @N1095A oh that is gold, Bone-o! Is it because bone is a word for erect penis? Because that is clever.

  • Comment removed

  • @thestu21 they named him Bono Vox ...which in Latin means "good voice"...but they were making fun of him because his voice wasn't good back then

  • @N1095A Hey shitdick.....the names were given to them as they were part of a gang back in the late 70's....neither Bono or Edge "gave" themselves their nicknames you stupid fuck...the nicknames just stuck.

Again if you're gonna slag someone off you should at least get your facts straight....you fucking polesmoker.

  • @wolfennyc So your idols are not only former gang members, but proud enough of that that they chose to identify themselves by their gang names. Interesting.

  • @wolfennyc "Humble" isn't one of the words I'd choose to describe U2.

  • @TheJasperCo its not true. Collins was trying to be cool disturbing arrogantly U2, and U2 reacted great and funny

    Bono is a genius

  • @TheJasperCo oh really? so why are they practucally the only musical group on the planet who has been around 30+ years with the same 4 band members?....you have to be humble to be able to do that since almost every other band in the world faces infighting among their members.breakups,lawsuits,etc.

    I rest my case

  • Love U2, but don't be dissing Phil Collins, the man is very talented

  • @agendor101 CLEARLY he's saying "how's your taco, Phil?" You know, cause Phil's eating a taco.

    Duh

  • Phil Collins is a wonderful drummer, a great singer, a tremendous song writer and he was a key member of one of the most interesting and important bands of all time. U2 are famous, smug and lucky. I was surprised to watch them behave so disrespectfully to a fellow who opened up the minds of so many audiences before they played a note.

  • anacrobat89,

Pre-Phil Collins?...or do you mean pre-Phil Collins as frontman?..I hardly ever listen to Genesis's 1st 2 albums.....usually listen to Nursery Cryme through till maybe Wind & Wuthering...although Peter gone, Trick of the Tail & Wind & Wuthering have some very good moments....good albums

  • Leave any band at a bar what do you expect. I never saw this it is pretty funny.

  • What the hell is wrong with you people?

    1. You are visiting U2 in the middle of the ZOOTV tour in a pub at night, of course their going to be smashed and making comments.

    2. What did that even say that was even remotely insulting. The Edge was just making a joke with no offense attatched, I don't even know what Bono said that was offensive and Adam was just having a laugh.

    3. It would of sounded less offensive if they weren't drunk.

    4. This is HILARIOUS, not at the expense of Phil.

  • I had liked U2 for years..several of their albums were really refreshing and well done, but Phil is 100 times the musician that ALL of U2 are...and I don't even really care that much for Phil's solo career stuff...the early and mid-70's work he did with Genesis will always be regarded as some of the finest music of the 20th century in classes above U2's music....no contest

  • @Angop96 Nice try. Everyone with musical taste knows that the best Genesis was pre-Phil Collins. Above U2's music? Not even close. Collins is a very talented drummer though.

  • I love u2, But that made me feel sad for Phil =(

  • hahahahaha

  • Boner went to far....One might say he went over the edge with with his drunken remarks ;-)

  • this is a riot

  • my memory from the original broadcast was adam saying"our parents have all your albums" im not sure if that was edited out or i had wrong then but i remember u2 being interviewed by phil collins as bono, edge, and adam were in a bar with a satalite feed-----please log on to equip.org

  • I never liked U2 anyway, but now they've hurt my Phil, I hope their careers die in a hole!

  • People saying they are being arseholes. It looked pretty staged/just having a laugh tbh...

  • I think they were just having a bit of a laugh..

I like Phil Collins and his music..

    But i love U2.

  • I love U2 and phil/Genesis a lot. I thought that it was a funny moment, but Adam is being disrespectful. You can even see Bono being embarrassed by what he said. Phil seems really hurt and shocked. But I guess U2's egos were getting huge at this point. Hell, why not? they were still kicking ass in the early 90's! Around that time, Phil's career was taking a little nosedive, so I guess he was easy to shit on. But I do think Genesis is the better band of the two.

  • U2 used to be great-now they are an overblown washout.

Nice of them as well to move their corporate offices to another country other than their "Beloved Ireland" to avoid taxes on song royalties, especially when Eire could currently use a monetary infusion. Such patriots!

  • they were in a bash an englishman mood that night, and Phil is an easy target

  • I THINK AN I.V. TO A KEG WOULD HAVE BETTER SUITED THESE FOOLS.

  • @weirdcitykid you are correct. Phil is so much better.

  • U2 shouldn't be so disrispectful - Phill Collins is infinitley more talented than they wil ever be.

  • Lighten up

  • Wow you Phil Collins fans are taking this a bit seriously, possibly like the man himself? Personally, I don't have strong feelings about Collins either way but if he really took offense at this, he'd be quite pathetic. U2 get mocked on a daily basis but take it as part of the job and are always careful not to knock others. This teasing hardly counts. Finally U2 in their 40's had much more to offer than Collins in his 40's.

  • U2 pisses me off here. Phil and Genesis rule.

  • @beatlemaniac1966 Well Said Jake

  • Comment removed

  • U2 and Phil are both great musicians, but really U2? Phil Collins can play drums much much better than the drummer of U2 can, and can sing 5X better than bono. This is really sad

  • Wow people are getting really upset on behalf of Phil Collins being played with on a satellite link-up by three mischievous Irish drunks.

  • Phil Collins was 41 yrs old here, and U2 diss him as an oldie and not current, hence Adam's comment "Paddy is a big fan of your music, and so are all our parents". When U2 released 'ATYCLB' in 2001, the subsequent tour, and everything they've done since up to now - and the entire future of the band - is a case of U2 either being that age or older. So would U2 be happy if a band in their early-30s anytime in the last 10 years dissed them for THEIR age? I dont think so. U2 are being arseholes here.

  • @EnglishChannel1 - U2 seems to me like the kind of guys who are more than aware of their elderness, especially if they're called on it.

  • I'm not being horrible but I've always felt a bit sorry for Adam. He is an ex public school boy who has never felt like he fitted in anywhere. He has the same accent and manner as Hugh Grant, but he wanted to be Sid Vicious. Hearing him in the bar here with his upper-class English accent, you feel quite sorry for him.

  • good fun right there..i didnt think it was disrespectful

  • the irish think that acting always as clodhoppers is cool

  • I've seen drunk Bono and Edge a few times, but drunk Adam is absolutely priceless. A totally different man, actually :)

  • @PeterShishlin Aye and to think he hasnt had a drink for years now, A total different guy.

  • brilliant! Like any other humans, U2 recognise a cunt when they see one

  • Wow, drunk Adam is really fun and chatty! :D I like!

  • FUCK U2 MAN..... Their songs we're shit anyways.... Phil Collins is amazing and will always be amazing.... so FUCK U2 Bono the lot of ya... i don't give a damn how drunk u were... drummers don't always turn to singing ass wipe... just cuz Genesis's last lead singer (who shall remain nameless) sucked ass... Phil had to pick up the slack... :) oh... and did i say.... Fuck U2?!?!?!?

  • @DyztortedLawgix thank you.

  • Regrettable incident for U2 - but aren't you glad you're so cool when you're drunk - and lucky there are no cameras around. We've all been there - get over it.

  • I like Phil Collins music... but i love U2's !

  • this was just a bad idea all the way around

  • Zoo-TV is probably the greatest tour in history, respect

  • more... Bono is usually the one doing the "irony" at times like this. He calls it irony but it is really like more than saying silly things and making an arse out of himself. Strangely, Adam is the one who is being the biggest arsehole here and Bono less so. The roles in the band were clearly reserved on this night.

  • @EnglishChannel1 It was Rock n Roll, thats all . . . Phil made a career from his Divorce, come on. If it was Gerry Lee Lewis or any of the 60's legends in that pub picking up an award live there would have been foul mouthed mayhem!!

  • This is featured in Bill Flanagan's book "U2 At The End Of The World". It was filmed in The Dockers Bar, South Quay, Dublin. I've been in there. In 1992 technology wasn't what it is now, they had a huge trailer outside the pub with a big satelite dish for the link-up. The three of them do seem quite rude. Artists should never mock other artists. It sounds like ingratitude for the career U2 are lucky to have. If not for a fan following U2 would be working as supermarkets shelf-stackers in Dublin.

  • zoo tv tour & all u2 tours to present day...horseshit.

    bono what pure overrated dogshit.

u2 the biggest musical cash-grabbing scammers of all time.

  • @Hot80s you don't know what a good rock band is you piece of dog st**.

  • @Hot80s I agree with you mate!

  • I think Bono and the guys went a bit overboard with the joking there - I guess they could blame it on the drinks.. I was somewhat taken aback by Edge's attack since he always appears to be an agreeable, get along fellow ("you know what happens when drummers start singing")...wow..

  • This was the beginning of U2's decline. They were a bunch of arrogant

    azzholes to Phil

  • That was hardly a diss... why would you title this so inflammatory?

  • This was when Adam was still on the drink. He went tee-total the following year.

  • What music Legend ??????

  • @mc28x Dude, Phil Collins is a one of a kind.

  • @EaglesStir

I see lots of ugly useless bald blokes everyday so Phil Collins is definately not one of a kind !!

  • @mc28x Can they write songs, sing and play drums?

  • @EaglesStir

do you mean like Dave Grohl ??

  • LMAO! I love it funny.

  • phil collins=twat

  • LUV IT? LOL

  • you're all whacky, boo hoo, etc. this was clearly a planned mash up by Phil and U2... maybe not wfw scripted but close... then they all counted thier millons and went home happy... almost 20 years ago at that.

  • @MumDiddley I agree. The satellite hook-up aspect of it certainly points to that. Just a little ribbing...

  • @DarkeningSkies1 you bring up an interesting point, the satelitte hook was pre-planned so the award and the conversation had to be coriagraphed as well.the drunk display however may be real.who would sit in a bar in Dublin waiting for the "moment" w/o knockin' back some of that wonderful Guiness on draft?

  • @nomiclas phuck phil what;s his name!

  • Oh shit he did not just call Bono BO-NO!

U2 are so funny, the spotlight on Phil was shaking, he must have been laughing his ass off.

  • "I'm here guys(...)" -->> It's funny (:

  • I love Adam even more now!

  • Bunch of tossers

  • I love The Edge even more now! X'D

  • Bono used to smoke?!?

  • Comment removed

  • oooh this kinda makes me sad...i dont like to see my very very favorite band disrespecting my SECOND favorite....music artist..! :(

  • Paddy of the Docker's ... an Institution gone now!Sad! Irish sense of humor there from Paddy !Iwas there about 10 years ago just before they ripped the place down.Sad like i said.

  • live form the pub... a lot of guiness on the counter, that´s great

very funny clip, i dont think collins got too crossed, it´s rock and roll, anything can happend so, i think he did a great job interviewing the boys, :)

  • Feel a bit sorry for Phil here. It would be car crash TV anyway trying to talk to the boys when they've had a few drinks via satellite, but when they start making fun of Phil Collins it's public humiliation. Phil does look hurt and angry too. He's the one figure in music that everyone puts the boot into on a regular basis.

  • @TroyDouglas917 thats because he made a music career out of getting divorced and subjected us all to the garbage tracks.Grow a pair Phil.

  • @TroyDouglas917

It's a shame we can't appreciate our truly talented artists while they are stil here. Rather than waiting until they die to start hero worshipping them.

Informate.

  • it appears as though all the musicians we're joking. i'venever heard of any ill will between genesis and U2. both were hot in 92-93.

  • Phil Collins is a fuckin prick

  • Phil can kick the butt of the whole u2 with a single drumstick

  • I MISS SNARKY ASS BONO!!

  • ah the dockers pub..:)))

  • People! Stop with the sensitivity already. I think everyone's behavour is actually tame compared to how rude and obnoxious Americans are after they've had a few at 1:30am. Bono's hot and a bad ass and yet very considerate of others in the end. As long as he presents himself as somewhat humble, he's golden forever. Oh, did I say HE'S HOT ?

  • This was around the time where U2 just didn't give a shit about critics and mainstream media, so it's no surprise that they acted like this.

  • Guiness is Gross Ive never felt so ill and to mix it with whiskey is mad Bono

  • No question that the U2 lads respect Phil; I remember that year some dick of a DJ on Radio One (that'd be all of them then) tried to diss Phil once and Bono put him straight. I think Phil probably wished he were in the pub with them, though; it couldn't have been easy doing an interview like that.

  • "After the potato we got into the satellite dish" - Lol

  • Holy shit, I think that might be whelans pub in Dublin. It looks like it. I ve been there on the odd occasion.

  • Edge and Bono are okay here with Phil, it's just Adam being a total ass ....the most expendable member of U2 who can't handle his drink.

  • darn, I wanted to see the rest!

  • oh mai ! :3

They should get Adam to drink more, he becomes quite talkative :D

+ I wish Larry was there, I would've liked to see him drunk off his face.

  • I like U2, but there was no need to be such asses with Phil, especially cause Phil's musicianship kick the asses of Bono and Edge together...

  • Comment removed

  • people its called taking the mick and irish people are very good at it they all prob like phil that pubs in dalkey i think them boys can put away some arthur all right

  • in english it's called "FUCK OFF." Im guessing it was the the future Bone Thugs that intimidated Bano. He's jealous. PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ME HOME!!!

  • Look how many different drinks Bono has in front of him! ha! Wine, shot, cocktail, 2 beers...

Queen, Police, PinK Floyd, Zepellin,,,,y tantas otras.

  • Phil Collins was being disrespectful from the very start when he said "Hey Bono everyone hears you talk, lets put the drummer..." and his hand gestures as he said it... SO DISRESPECTFUL. Bono was a class act. Who is Phil to decide who should talk in U2 anyways...

And "anticipating you wouldn't be sober"... Yeah phil... you crossed the line. Bono was class.

  • @jukvox Bono was not class..just drunk..lol
