  • Huge hit in Greece in the 50's,,,

  • It'll be goog if somebody write this song's English lyrics. Even It'll be nice if somebody load English subtitle version. I'm very curious about what the song tells.

entire world was in apeace with it's mother nature and humankind, where love was

placed on the agenda. People preaching different kind of Gods in different form but the

journy is only one to reach him. Budhist, Hindus, Sikhs, Judes, Christians,Muslems, etc. we all try to reach God. Lovely song with emotion. Khushy100, Mubarak.

Oum Kalthoum - Ala Baladi El Mahboub (1935).

  • @khanayazin

May be ! BUT what a masterpiece this Is !

A Masterpiece of Art ...... unequalled ever ......

... for in it, the deep Loving Silence, which is the deathless reality of all.......... becomes hauntingly revealing ! ♥ aum

  • @khanayazin

Thx for letting me find the origianl song, Man!!

  • The sets and music is just mesmerising! They films were so professional back then. Bollywood unfortunately has taken a turn for the worst now - there seems to be no talent, just nudity and vulgarity :(

  • is there anyone able to make me a translation of the song?PLEASE HELP ME cause I need it for my next exam about indian cinematography!!! (it's tomorrow!!!) :P

  • This Composed By Great Music Director of India SHANKAR JAIKISHAN

  • nargis, tumhare jaise koi nahi,ur face, expressions, bhagwaan bhi nahi repeat kar sakta

  • wow this is under appreciated music. just the drums alone make this sick beat.....i diiggg it

  • The song is "Ala Baladi Mahbub", composed by Riad al-Sunbati in 1936. Great tune.

  • A fabulous song. To my surprise I heard the same tune whilst I was at an Arab restaurant in London with my wife. The two Egyptian gentleman who were sitting next to us and clearly loving the Egyptian version convinced me that the Egyptian version, sung by the legendary Egyptian singer Om kathum is definitely the original. I didn't argue the case.

  • @saffman100 yes they said the truth .. that om kalthum sung it first .. it is her original song then the indian version come next .. but personally i prefer nargis version

  • Only a consumate artist like Raj Kapoor would film such scenes to perfection!

  • Raj Kapoor was a pioneer, way ahead of his time. Undoubtedly he set a precedence for future filmmakers to come. He was showing how the hero's feelings between heaven and hell. Superbly done.

  • the most famous movie of all the time ever given and loved in albania

  • The first dream sequence in Indian movie. S J have given wonderful music and of course Manna Dey and Latha have done a great job. Listen to those wonderful rythmic patterns. and what a picturisation without any of the modern graphics. Raj Kapoor was the ultimate showman of bollywood. thanks for the video. Dr.Rajamurthy

  • The first ever dream sequence in an indian movie. shankar Jaikishen's mazing music score. Of course Lata with Manna Dey is fantrastic. Wonderfully picturized by Raj Kapoor - the greatest showman of Indian cinema. An ever green song.

  • This movie was in 1951 and I forgot not.

  • Indeed.. very beautiful. Combines the east and the west in an amazing way..

  • great

  • what is her name?

  • Nargis.

  • the picturisation of this song is beautiful! I just watched this film (awara) last night and Nargis and Raj were brilliant.

  • teray bina aag yeh chandani

    tu aa ja

    my golden age verses

  • Ghar aaya mera pardesi, though copied from Mohammed Abdel Wahab ,(considered the father of the modern Egyptian songs, was beautifully orchestrated and merged with the other song (tere bina), to be the first dream sequence in indian film music.

  • Makes you want to just dance to the music and emotion.. there is nothing like this magic and beauty ever in todays bollywood movies....

  • great song!

  • Wonderful song !

  • thanks for posting the whole scene. this dream sequence is iconic, and Nargis is so timeless and beautiful

  • One needs to imagine that this was made almost 60 years ago by a intense young man in mid 20 , who acted , directed, edited, produced , conducted music in his own studio . RK was a very ambitous film maker. In this world no one ever have done so much so long ago w/ his lover Nagis. I was very young to understand the content. Now I do. Thanks raj Kapoor where ever you are to entertained us after such a long time.

  • Great compostion by Shankar & Jai Kishan buttt ooops !!!! i t is copied from famous 1930s Arabic song of Oum Kalthoum known as Ala Balad el Mahboub. In case of doubt write me back I can mail you the original song
