I find it funny that badminton fans are allowed to cheer during rallies, but tennis fans have to keep quiet.

tennis players are such prissy little bitches. they won't even serve sometimes until that one guy way up in the nose bleed section swallows his mouthful of popcorn.

and yet, the great irony is that badminton players don't scream like banshees during their stroke like many tennis players do. sharapova, nadal and the williams sisters are the worst for exaggerating their grunts

i think the reason are simple.

tennis = expensive sport = rich people = quiet & reserved.

badminton = cheaper sport = average people = community & friendly

i can't imagine what you base any of your comment on. badminton is way more expensive than tennis. allow me to lay it out for you...

1) people can play tennis outdoors, on free public courts, all over the place. badminton requires an indoor facility that always costs money to play in.

2) feather shuttles cost like $2 each (or more!) and last like 10 minutes on average. tennis balls last way longer.

3) badminton strings break faster.

4) badminton racquets break way faster.

No offence but in China, Malaysia, Singapore, etc, people play badminton on the street. Only the better-to-do, play at an indoor facility. We don't see tennis being played at an alley, do u?

I agree that feathers are expensive, but it depends on the brand. There are really cheap shuttles or even plastic shuttles that last like a few months.

Strings break, depends on individual playing style. Most cheap racquets have thicker gauge strings and at such a low tension that it's difficult to break the strings.

I agree that racquets break is higher, but because of the popularity of the sport, they cost cheaper.

ya i see now. i think the misunderstanding is that you are in asia and i am in canada lol. in north america, there are public tennis courts in every neighbourhood, including at least 3 courts on the property of every highschool.

I do agree that badminton can be played anywhere, but I was referring to the comparison of competitive tennis vs competitive badminton. there is no competitive badminton (on earth) that is played outside, right?

in canada, feather costs $20-50 for 12 birds.
