  • I ran up on stage and Rick Nelson kissed me, at the San Diego animal park!:-)

  • Does anyone know the names of the others that died with him on the plane?. It's kind of shame not to mention them also.

  • Saw him with my girlfiend Dorothy this night. Saw him at the old Palamino Club in Norh Hollywood years before. Great shows.

  • What a shame with all the speculation behind how the plane crashed. It took a guy like his brother David to clear Ricky's name. May David also RIP

  • Une splendide performance : et une chanson inoubliable par sa mélodie. Un grand de la pop étatsunienne.

  • I wonder what happened to all those women.

  • Rick is my cousin. I'm from Ohio and my Aunt Joy (years ago) got to meet Ricky backstage in Dayton.

She said he was so nice and that he knew he had family here. My grandmothers maiden name is Hillard. She was Rickys 1st cousin. Guess I'll never meet him now. Love Ricky and his music!!!!!!

  • Saw him at the Tulsa Fair 1985, in Oct before he was killed. I threw a rose up on the stage & it landed just perfectly on his guitar & stayed there for the remainder of his song. Such beautiful music from a beautiful man.

  • @heidiho46 Hi, saw him in Tulsa in 85 at Tulsa Ciy Limits, found myself in front of the stage at the end....

  • This was the band that died with him on that DC-3 up in Avery, Texas area. I have been to the sight......that was a fateful New Years Eve. I will never forget it....part of my youth died when he did......Miss you EHN....rip. RR

  • He was one of my favorites. My girlfriend and I saw him at a supper club in Rochester, NY. He was so hot.

  • Man this sounds GREAT live! The guitar solo has a sweet tone! This, ladies and gentlemen, is the SHIT.

  • I totally agree. Rick might have had cocaine issues, but a faulty heater caused his plane to catch fire. What a loss. Rick Nelson was one of the greats. Only second to Elvis in rockabilly. And Rick was more of an all American kid born in Tee Neck, New Jersey, and raised in California.

  • @johnthehulk1 it's spelled Teaneck, & didn't have a clue he was born in my neck of the woods. Tks for the 411

  • what a sexy hunk

  • @jamieliam16 I'm with you! Taken away much too soon.

  • He didn't lose his sex appeal. He was really sessy back in th60's.

  • I saw Rick Nelson in Oklahoma City in 1985. He was always a class act. What a loss to the music industry!!

  • I have this Video GREAT GREAT GREAT, Rick done em ALL MAry Lou, I got cold chills He died less than a year later. The Plane had a FURNACE blow up!.'ALAWAYS some Idiot wanting to run down a dead man . Rick had Millions of fans if you don't like him. Get the F--- off of here!.

  • Its a shame a great singer and band would met a such awful death as they did R.I.P.

  • no rug! Ricky Nelson died soon after that concert! he was my all time favorite growing up, him and the Everly Brothers

  • R.I.P. X 5 on stage there. That plane crash wiped out everyone there in this vid except the background singers. Last tune he ever played was Rave On by buddy holly, last song he recorded was True love Ways by buddy holly......... weird.

  • i got up close to him and I can truely say his hair is his own so shut up!

  • nice rug on his head

  • @cbarrett34 Jealous?

  • @andcheeky2 of what? his rug? i have my own hair

  • @cbarrett34 LOL no that was the style back then but you're too young to remember I guess. :P

  • @andcheeky2 that was the style back then? you mean wearing a hair piece? that's exactly what he's wearing there. if you think that's his real hair, you should wake the heck up. that's a rug dude. i'm not that young. i was 13 in 1985, i remember the styles.

  • @cbarrett34 He always had a great head of hair and yeah it looks kinda like a rug so since you're the one that's run your fingers through it....I'll believe you ;-)

Live is easier if you have a sense of humor instead of taking everything on youtube as a face slap. Rotsa Ruck!

  • @cbarrett34 You are wrong. That is his hair. He and David were genetically blessed folically from both parents.

  • Gee I'm a dickhead, a jerk, pissy. You guys are so rich in expletives. I guess it's easier when there isn't someone around to punch your face in. I said in the beginning that I loved listening to him, but you're all so sweaty over his "rep" that you need to trash me. He sang great songs, well chosen by his Dad who was a master promoter. If you don't realize that, guess who needs the history lesson.

  • @ezekialwheel : No, life killed him. I looked it up. Overwhelms me really. To see his early songs, popularity in his 20's..

..only to be taken by a heartless woman who wanted nothing but to spend his wealth and taek him for all that he had becasue she did not do ANYTHING with her life.

She did everything in her power to destroy him. He turned to drugs, alcohol...died alone and broken in an airplane crash.

It overwhelms me how a life can take such a direction.

  • to @79barkingspider403 YOU ARE A DICK HEAD! why is Rick in the rock n roll hall of fame and why did he have 11 # 1 hits and yes he broke concert attendance records early in his career...and how's come you didn't?...and also he was 45 when he died..and it was that old piece of junk plane that killed him...read your history you jerk!

  • missed dearly.

  • barkingspider, where was your break why didn't you sing it then and become a better singer then rick and we the fans would have loved you your all talk --rick, was great you don't know music sorry poor guy you never became a star......

  • Give me a friggin' break! He had a lousy voice, couldn't play the guitar. I'm 68 and could sing this song better. Some legend. He just had a really smart dad who pushed him into the best songs and gigs. Some legend.

  • @79barkingspider Get a life... Post your video of you doing it better old man.....

  • @79barkingspider Dick head

  • @bobd3833 Hey crybabies. Did you mommy drop you on your head too many times? Is this the first time anyone has disagreed with you about a stupid singer?

  • @barkingspider403 It's not about disagreeing, it's all about your pissy attitude. Ricky is dead for crying out loud and you are posting BS that makes you look like an old bitter and jealous man.

If one person says something, maybe it's true...maybe it's not.

If two people say the same thing, Hmmm it just MIGHT be true.

If three or more people say the same thing ... you better LISTEN!

  • @andcheeky2 It's just the opposite unless you're a sheep. As H.L. Mencken said, "Democracy is the theory that three people will steal less than two, four less than three, and so on." Proof that voting means nothing is provided every year by American Idol. Three years in a row of lame singers winning the whole thing. It's encouraging to me that I disagree with the fantards in this thread who spend their time kissing Ricky Nelson CD's.

  • @barkingspider403 Seems you are they only person on here talking shit. Sometimes it's better to just shut your mouth. I'm going to do just that. I don't argue with idiots.

Have a nice life....what's left of it.

  • He left way too soon.....was innocent and good looking......stars like that are exstinct now.

  • Love Ricky we miss you!!!

  • Ricky vous nous avez quitté trop tôt comme Elvis. Vous aviez 5 ans d'écart. Vous nous manquez énormément... RIP Ricky

  • You will allways be remembered<3

  • just today 25 years before - you will never be forgotten - Rick Nelson RIP

  • 25th anniversary coming up RIP Rick.

  • I saw Rick Nelson at a dinner theater in Rochester, NY. He was great!!! RIP!!!

  • Every move he makes in this clip makes me tingle! Sounds great...looks so amazingly handsome...I was raised right, but if a girl was gonna sin he'd be the one to need to ask forgivness for...19 and 45....too big of an age gap...lol....when you got it, you got it! And he had it all...

  • sehr schönes lied alle ****** für dich gvlg M-louise

  • As my dear late Mama would say he's a danged good-looking man! I actually think I married my first husband because he had such a strong resemblance to Ricky Nelson, and I had had a crush on Ricky back when I was a little bitty girl listening to my oldest brother's records of Ricky!

  • We miss you Rick....so handsome and great songs!

  • Thank you so very much for posting these Ricky Nelson songs ...

  • The video and audio are out of sync

  • Great song but I'm curious, did Rick fake playing guitar like a lot of singers from that era? You can really see it from about 39 seconds to 45 seconds in. He keeps changing chords where there are no chord changes. I suspect that he really did know the tunes overall as he IS playing the correct chords at the end (D major to Bminor) so he must've played a little but I'm curious if anyone knows the story there. Elvis admitted to faking it during his '68 Comeback. I wonder about Ricky. Hmm...

  • @Vegas01973 Almost as much as I enjoyed the song, I enjoyed your comment too. Cheers.

  • @Vegas01973 Very very good eye... that is a is a major flaw as you are correct there isnt that many chord changes in that part... or probably the whole song hahahha

  • Good Song. Very handsome So sad he died so young. I was 13 when he was killed but my parents played this song and others. He is the same as my father who will soon be 70. Wow time flies

  • This concert here is from 1985, the year Rick Nelson died. It's so shocking to see him in such great health for his age here and looking good and a little later his plane crashed and he died. So sad. He was still really young looking. And remember he had been singing this hit song since 1961.

  • To lotsof fun.You better get your facts straight the plane crash was caused by a faulty heater in the aircraft. also the autopsy showed that he in fact did not have cocaine in his sytem. I don"t understand why some peole always try to bring ohter people down ecspecially when they are famous

  • more talent in his pinky nail than most of the acts out there

  • @timthewelder1

Let me think, who is more talented Rick or lady Gaga?

  • Ricky Nelson 's my Teenage Idol, this clip reminds me a lot of great memories...

    Many thanks for posting...

  • He was dynamite!

  • My first husband resembled Ricky a lot when Ricky looked like this. No wonder I fell so hard & fast. Ricky Nelson is gorgeous here in 1985 when he was 45-years-old. He could easily have passed for 25!

  • Sad to die SO young ! I really liked him.

  • There was never coke in his system thats all Bull Shit !!!! Get your facts straight before you post

  • Its too bad after his death they found Cocaine in his blood stream.... Music has been messed up for a long time...

  • @Lotsoffun111 reread the news,,that report was false,,there were NO drugs found of any kind

  • @ckgfoster It is a known fact that he Free basing Cocaine on the Air Plane that sent him to his death... traces of Cocaine were found in his blood stream... come on man..

  • @Lotsoffun111 So what! Traces. Come on Dude. I heard the same shit but think, don't ya think if there was some small truth to it it would have been prepared ahead of time,, by someone else? Whatever. I've come to not believe the crap people have to inject when untimely tragedy takes what gives us so much pleasure in our living existence.

  • SIGH!!

  • rick was a long time smoker as was harriet.....id say thats why his voice had changed some as did harriets and daves has also but know if he was ever a smoker.

  • Love Rick Nelson

  • Sooooo Cool ... I love this tune very much :-) icky is so handsome :-)

  • Fantastic sound one of the best

  • Wonder why his throat was so horse Rumors are ?? luv this song !!

  • I heard it was because of drug use!

  • i remember Rick was working on a new t.v. show with merlin olson before he died. she show was put on the shelf after his demise. that was the saddest day of my life when Rick and his band died. im a grown man but i wept for days..couldnt get it off my mind. he was on his way to making a comeback. i saw him in 84 and his show was just fantastic. what a terrible loss. we miss him dearly.

  • If Rick had been less dedicated to making music, he could've gone back into TV.. sit-come, anything. His incredible good looks & charisma would've made anything he was in a success, & would've kept him off the road & alive.

  • This is my favorite Ricky Nelson song and I especially love to hear Ray Walker of the Jordanaires backing him.

  • i remember as a young kid i used to watch ''the adventures of ozzie and harriet'' and each week they would feature a new song done by rick ''live'' on the show. this was later on in the series because in the earliest ones in the fifties he was too young to be a lead vocalist.

his parents were good musicians too. anyone know what happened to his older brother david.

  • Dear Dale, David Nelson is the only surviving member of the original TV family. He was born in October, 1936 and is now 73. He was never really into show business as much as his parents and younger brother. After the series ended, he quietly worked "behind the scenes".

  • Being 66, I grew up with Rick & his music. Truly one of the greats in Rock & Roll. He stayed true to himself and his music. British invasion, disco, punk, heavy metal... you still could depend on Rick for his outstanding music: classic Rock!

I'm not sure if its on you tube, but Ozzie (his dad) produced the very first music video: Rick doing Traveling Man, years before videos became common place!

Nothing brings a smile to my face like a Rick Nelson song - love ya Rick, always will!

  • Rick Nelson, actor and musician, for a lifetime an honest unaffected style, consumate good taste, and musical artistic integrity untill his dying day. A man as strong as his work.

  • Wow he sounds like he used to smoke too much, like no breath...That song is still great!

  • thank you very much for good VDO

  • He passed away in 1985.

  • So THIS was his last concert?

  • Dec. 31, 1985, Nelson and his band boarded a plane after a show at a small club in Guntersville, Alabama headed to the KLUV-FM New Year's Eve Sock-Hop concert in Dallas, Texas. The plane crashed northeast of Dallas in De Kalb, Texas killing Nelson; his fiancée, Helen Blair; bassist Patrick Woodward, drummer Rick Intveld and three others. Nelson was buried in the Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

  • Yes that was the place and he put on a Great Show. I later met Pat Upton from Spiral Staircase at a friends party. He sang with Ricky Nelson after Staircase, and said the illfated plane stopped at his little club before it's final leg of the voyage.

  • lov this / know every word yah !!! thanks for sharing ..

  • The Eagles ripped off his musical style

  • Loved him at the Palomino Club in No Ho California. Great Performance there.

  • oh my my. he was wonderful. I love him... his picture hangs on my wall in bedroom. I miss him and his lovely voice and his great songs. rip... thanks for sharing this great video.

  • The guitar player is not better than James Burton.

  • Great Song! A Ricky Nelson classic! Bobby Neal from Cooter Mo. on lead guitar. RIP

  • @dennisjamesstudio And what a guitarist. Bobby was as good as Rick's earlier player James Burton if that's possible.

  • @73849309378 The tone that guy gets is awesome. Sounds very much like the legendary James Burton. Agreed.

  • love ricky - a legend

  • One of R&R greatest voices...

  • What is it with plane crashes, and musicians? It just sucks! Rickey, the "1959 crast when the music died", Lynard Skynard, Stevie Ray Vaughan (yeah, I know, it was a helicopter, but you get my point). Man, how sad. I just enjoy the music, and try not to think about it. I hope I get to visit "Rock and Roll Heaven" when I die, if it does exist. Thanks for this post.

  • @DooWopFanatic because musicians travel a lot

  • Another hugely under rated talent during his lifetime...

  • Ditto!

  • God bless you Ricky! You left us all quite a legacy, to enjoy your beautiful music. It is hard to watch these great videos and know that his band lost their lives too. RIP Ricky and the Stone Canyon Band.

  • Love you Rick

  • his time is done...but still one of the best Ucan hear..great tune,,,,

  • my absolutly favorit for all time !!!!!!

    i love him sooooooooooooooooooooo...........

thanks a lot for post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was walking around an Auto show in the Oakland Coliseum in the late 70's and in the back of the arena a small band was playing as the people were looking at the cars. Hardly anyone stopped to watch Rickey Nelson and his band; I was amazed to see who was playing, stopped for a few minutes and went back to looking at cars.

To me, he was like a neighborhood kid next door. RIP Rick, you are missed.

  • RIP RICKY!

  • was that a hair piece he was wearing here?

  • That's his real hair..:) thank goodness...

  • Yes, thank goodness!

  • Back in the good old days when hair used to

matter :) It's been almost 23 years.Hard to believe!I had been ill with food poisoning and stayed home while my parents were at a

New Year's Eve Party and that news bulletin came on :(

  • i saw him in england 1985 .6 weeks before his death .hes the best singer ive ever seen . i got to shake his hand . RIP ricky nelson xxx
