  • I guess the old Atari engine can't handle the very things we take for granted in a traditional Mario game lol

  • Impressive, but there doesn't seem to be proper collision detection with the enemies, and the jumping is a bit off.

  • Pretty Impressive

Proves how versatile the Atari 400/800 xl machines are

Id expect nothin less from the first computer i ever owned

good job on whoever did this

  • this game was made AFTER the original Mario Brothers game, which is super Mario Brothers for NES (nintendo entertainment system) it is not the first mario game, the first Donkey Kong game is the first game that mario first appeared in.

  • @fartstarter12

The original Mario Brothers game was Mario Bros. for Arcade.

  • was this before Nintendo?

  • I seen this several months ago and was very impressed. Stuff like this should go down in post atari history.

  • I'd like to see this done on an Atari 7800

  • What happens when you drop into a hole????

    Please!!!!!

  • @miste1982 - this is early stage version, not fully functional.

  • flaws: no music? really? i can imagine sonic, but mario? nah, just kidding.

  • Mario never shrunk, and went through blocks, but the graphics are decent.

  • this looks like it would be on gameboy

  • @frozenkiller7 The movement of Mario looks extremely similar to Super Mario Land on the GB :o

  • @frozenkiller7 no, more like virtual boy

  • Sure seems buggy...

  • the c64 could have done this about 20 odd years ago if nintendo had not been so tight about the licence.

  • @thesman32 so could atar but who really cared back then?

  • what is this mario called and what console dose it go on

  • WAITWAITWAITWAITWAIT.

This is on Atari 2600? Holy sh*t!

  • @SuperNESFreak - no, it's not. This is game for Atari 8-bit (XL/XE).

  • @KazVideo D'oh. Should've guessed.

  • @SuperNESFreak I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • holy shit i have a test market cartdridge for smb on atari 5200 and looks just like this just like how smb special was the test market of intellivision and super boy was test market of coleco

  • MEMORIES :)

  • It's strange that there's never been a decent Mario adaption (at least none that I know of) for the Atari XL/XE to this date, but maybe things are going to change... the demo really looks very promising. Way to go!

  • You're right, I remember only "Bros" game. However, there are more approaches to SMB and they also promising, look at v i m e o . c o m / 6 2 6 4 7 8 0 (remove spaces from link)

  • @videokonsument Have you seen Crownlads?
