@dawsonoo7 in the start of the video, were it shows the big blue explosion, what is going on there is the vasari were experimenting with phase space and accidentally opened a portal to another dimension, allowing a 4th race into the vasaries system. the 4th race killed most of the vasari, and is chasing them, trying to finish them off.

i dont remember where i read this, you can look it up or something tho.

@blazecon0 From the way this "unknown enemy" came out of nowhere and destroyed the Vasari empire from the inside out, it sounds like it's the Beast from Homeworld Cataclysm all over....only this time the infection has gotten out of control.

@blazecon0 Actually I thought it was one of their own crew ships had gotten mad. One of their most 'elite of elite' and turned on their race and started killing them off. Or thats what I read in the manual.

@SoulKiller7Eternal Well, in the manual it tells that a wing of the Vasari Dark Fleet went to go fight whatever this genocidal entity was. The -ONLY- ship that survived appeared above a planet at the edge of the Vasari Empire, the entire crew apparently driven mad with fear. I think that's what you're referencing. The colony that found this ship was the one that began running, realizing that something really, -really- bad was coming after them.

So yeah. We -still- have no clue what it is.

@EarenionGilGalad the protoss all had a psionic link, when the Xel'naga descended to Aiur. A civil war break out casusing the psionic link to disapper. The war ended when Khas, using xel'naga-derived artifacts called khaydarin crystals, re-created the psionic link. It became the basis of a new philosophy called the Khala. The Conclave attempted to exterminate rogue heretics who had deliberately cut themselves off from the Khala and would later become known as the Dark Templar.

the things i really like about this are the fact that the VO has no hesitation or doubt in his approval of exiling the proto-Advent and his bit at the end about how there is no one left to defend their homes and families that they barely even know anymore

also, i've always been a fan of the theory that the threat the Vasari are running from is their own empire, they just don't know it because they've been out of communication for so long

@Crazael Hmm. that theory doesnt make much sense to me. If it is their own empire, why? Becouse the Dark Fleet became too powerful. But the 1 ship that returned was badly wounded, so there was battle. Only something more powerful can nearly wipe out the Fleet, so it makes no sense... (sorry for replying to a month old post though)

@lakdav The idea is that the Black Fleet, after that initial crushing defeat, turned the tide and eventually won against whatever it was that attacked them. Then, they discovered a line of beacons leading off from one of their colonies and have been following it since, trying to catch up to their lost colonists.

@Crazael The lore says that the signal from their beacons ceased, and that it was supposed to estimate the speed of the threat. Why would the victorius Dark Fleet stop the signals instead of sending the messege "we won"?

Whatever it is, it must have turned the Fleet's own strength against itself. My bet is on a clever virus infecting nanotechnology, but then again, i dont know more than any of us.

@lakdav Because they don't know where they went, only that they keep running into old beacons. Maybe they don't even particularly care about them and are just picking up the beacons as they expand on the off chance the beacon will be important.

This is an awesome game but they needed to make a campaign for it, a story where the Advent, TEC, and Vasari fight the forces that are hunting the Vasari.
