  • freakin sweet, what effects/equipment are you using? sounds amazing

  • @BenJaminLongTime I'd put my money on a digital delay for one. Maybe an overdrive as well. I'd dare say he wouldn't be using much more than that.

  • @BenJaminLongTime: obviously a little delay...

  • Jimi Hendrix's spirit is out there, taken 40 years for another prodigy to appear, this is so incredibly out of this world

I have seen him on the street of barcelona 5 years ago playing such things and everybody was just amazed ! he had 2 CD that he sold on the street and i bought one of them. • beautiful, thanks for such inspiration carlos

  • Being a fellow leftie, I thought I was getting good, til I seen this. Everytime I watch it, it nearly brings me to tears, not just the the talent, but the tune itself, to me, its the guitar equivalent of Gortoz A Ran (Denez Prigent, worth looking up).

  • Being a fellow leftie, I thought I was getting good, til I seen this. Everytime I watch it, it nearly brings me to tears, not just the the talent, but the tune itself, to me, its the guitar equivalent of Gortoz A Ran (Denez Prigent, worth looking up).

  • Maestro!

  • ...very good...

  • hes god...

  • God has returned and he plays guitar

  • great rhythm!

  • muy bien muchacho gracias por tus lecciones

  • yeahhhh

  • OMFG - WOW and SUPERWOW! That was just fucking amazing!

  • wow~!!!! amazing!

  • I think he could create a very good electronical music of every type with guitar and his tapping and delay as fills and melody, or something like that.

  • i think its the delay that does half the job here but he uses it very efficiently and without doubt this is a great composition

  • i LOVE the way he's able to use his hands on guitar..

  • its like his 2 hands are in conflict and are trying to work things out, so they can live with eachother.... this piece is so complex and amazing!!!! a flawless masterpiece.

  • are you high? kidding man. and yeah man..this guy is phenomenal!

  • Thats tight man! Awesome stuff

  • i like the slide sound....

  • I must know how it is you can get such a gorgeous sound, especially when you tap higher than the 12th fret as genernally that brings a high pitched buzzy nasty noise! What's the secret?

  • its called a harmonic and you just tap on the fret between the 12 and 13.

  • Genious

  • Sick man.

  • You made my day Vamos, this is breathtaking...

I but I have to say you play the guitar like a boy who always wanted to play piano, but his parents decided he will take guitar lessons.. :)

  • Hey Carlos, this is truly heart stopping stuff. It's what we all strive for as musicians: grace, dynamism, emotive, virtuosity, and yet so peaceful. Simply lovely.

    Love ya!

  • anyone know where i can get/buy tabs for this ??

  • great! great! great!. men am your student, any lessons?

  • awesome!

  • wow hes good...

  • Amazing

  • He's a monster.

  • is that REALLY low action with a mic boost or are your hands freaking SWIFT AND STRONG AS HELL!?!?!?!

  • haha agreed xD

  • distinct style.

    nice progressions

    and sound

  • you are great

  • tio esta cancion es increiblemente preciosa felicidades, ojala pudiera tocar un tema asi..........

  • this is truely an amazing piece, all inspiering 5/5 =]

  • how do you learn to start playing like this? with like, both your hands on the neck? i tried to learn some stuff but its all way too hard.. isnt there any entry level stuff?

  • he probably studied music, the name of this technic of fingering the frets is called tapping or hammer-on.

  • no its just tapping

  • no...its just carlos vamos

  • Try playing the more complicated licks slower. And play through an amplifier so your fingers don't have to work as hard. He's listening to himself through headphone monitors.

Also this song uses a delay effect.

  • i could literally listen to this for 3 years straight and not get tired of it, Carlos, youre a genious and i hope someday i could evn be a fraction as talented as you, youve inspired me to pick up my guitar and actully try to play something as beautiful as this. the first time i heard this song i nearly broke down and cryed, beutiful work man

  • Wow, Carlos, Thanx! I've heard that tune live in Amster Dam square in summer 1999, and it was my first experience from Amsterdam. I bought a CD, but I lost it, then find it and lost it again. But always when I hear that tune, I'm back in the moment when I've heard it for the first time. Thanx again!

  • It was kind of repetitive... but beautiful, nonetheless.

  • u know...the 4 essential things in music are Melody, Harmony, Form and Rythm...that's all about form..the easyest is the form to understand, the more u can concentrate on melody, harmony and rythm...i think it's a good choice, in this case..it's not a neverending modulation as Steve Morse or Chick Korea..this is a 3-4 ideas..even nabs can understand such a simple form, so it's good because of it's repetitivness..anyway, great musical moment for me..thx for this!5*

  • BRILIANT!

  • Perfect sound, one of the best sounds ever heard!!!

  • Wow, only 137K views? This video deserves to be on the top 10!

  • possibly the best video on youtube

  • the most aquatic sounding thing i've ever heard, should have been the soundtrack for the zora's domain in LoZ: TP

  • This is pretty badass but i prefer the more raw version

  • ... this is - probably one of the most beautiful songs ever written by anyone on this planet.... perfection at its highest imaginable state of consciousness... there are NO other words to describe it.... Carlos, you are the dominating force and people around the world should be inspired by your genius and talent... God Bless you and - keep up the good work....

  • fantastic!

  • Hey.... while we're on the subject of great tappers.... let's not forget Erik Mongrain!!

  • hes a league down from this bloke

  • I disagree.... different playing styles.

  • he looks like Tim Roth hehe

  • Greatest guitar Tapper in the whole world!!!!!!! He's so awesome!

  • not best but really really good

  • wahaaha..lupet!!

  • I've never heard of this guy before and it took forever to find him on youtube after seeing him a few years back i always wanted to hear/see him again... he seams to be as good if not better than andy mckee and antoine and them.. why is he not as popular? he's amazing!

  • i agree that antoine odufor is technically great and don't get me wrong i love his music

but that's not all there is to music there is music that can make you feel in heaven and it wasn't the technical aspect of the bit

like thom york or mark knopfler,

there are people that can play technically better but not the same

  • I know... I was saying, he seams as good if not better... and yeah, it's like any artform, it has its technical and expressive sides.

  • I listen to Carlos on Youtube every day, it's breathtaking how he sounds! Really beautiful, gonna buy the cd!

  • i seen this guy busking in central london many years ago and baught a cd of his have been absolutly captivated by his style has to be one of the most talented guitarists of today ;P

  • thats really fantastic!!!!

    like a ,reverberations maybe

  • wow this would be great to learn

  • dear tom, same style

  • I heard this song for the first time in 1997 in Ferrara.

Every time is magic, is amazing, is the music itself...

  • So relaxing.

  • hearing this makes me offended that the mainstream music industry crams no-talent hip-hop crap down our throats when God himself speaks through people like this

  • Great comment, I agree! Carlos is amazing.

  • there is something on the sound of the guitar, i don`t know what it is, something holy i think, you can feel his music, it touches you, who are you carlos vamos? fantastic

  • he is playing..magic...

After seeing his play,I found my play on guitar is totally shit...I would cut my guitar into pieces,And don't wanna touch it again

  • Fantastic! I first saw Carlos busking in Leicester Square back in 1997 and bought his Vamosia CD and then when he returned a few months later the Guitarnica CD. I remember coming back from lunch and hearing this incredible sound coming from the corner near the Swiss Centre (now demolished) and just stood there entranced for 20 minutes listening to his incredible playing. I got into trouble from my boss for being late back from lunch but it was worth it!!! :)

  • que tema Carlos...la verdad que me inspira escuchar tu musica.

Gracias a inet y youtube por dar a conocer la cantidad de musicos exelentes que hay en este mundo.-

  • Thats magic. Simple as that.

  • Oh my...if I hadn't seen this vid, I would guess that I guy is using digital delay on his acoustic guitar.

    Totaly awsome!!!

  • I think he's using if you pay attetion closely to it, but.. the effect is very soft..

  • Im sure this has been addressed somewhere in the ocean of text comments, but do any of you know the tuning on this song?

  • Yes. It is in natural F (FA), with minor character.

    Juan

  • Thank you, but could you be a little more specific? Not sure which string is tuned to the minor...

  • You are welcome. The "minor" is referred to the character of the composition. Basically there are two major "characters" in every musical piece: major (happy) and minor (sad), and combinations of the two. Of course, there are several more indications, like "con forza", "vivace", etc, but I was talking about the special "sadness" and melancholy of the song.

I am not a guitarist, so I cannot tell you about every string tuning that Carlos is using, but I am sure that the main tone is natural F.

  • he's asking for the way each string of the guitar is tuned, not the key.

  • I think the guitar is tuned a half tone down from standard tuning. I just compared the tone with the 440 hz A and I was correct, what was confusing was that Carlos "trasposed" F# to F, clearly viewed in 0:41.

    Juan

  • there is no question about it. read the video description. and "traspose" is not a word.

  • I've read the description, thanks. Sorry, my native language is not English. By tuning, I mean the standard tuning like this (ordered from the thinner string to the thicker): 1st: E -> E flat (or D#) 2st: B -> B flat (or A#) 3rd: G -> G flat (or F#) 4th: D -> D flat (or C#) 5th: A -> A flat (or G#) 6th: E -> E flat (or D#) I am not convinced if Carlos used the 440 hz for tuning. Anyway, is only a semitone. And I marked clearly the time when he was pressing the "normal" F#, but tuned half down.
  • I know what the hell you mean by tuning. there is no argument here. He is tuned down to D which is one whole ste flat.

  • down a whole step. read the comments!
