@TiffToomsen I don't really know, we have been butchering animals so long now, I guess this was our 1st pigs we done on our own...and we skinned our 1st deer this year by our selves...But we have been doing chickens and rabbits for along time now...Thanks
Awesome, Just out of curiosity, and I mean no disrespect, are you all Menonite amish or what? Just wondering. That little girl reminds me of my kiddo! Too Awesome you are teaching them! This is what it is about!
Serenity is soo much like you, Misty! She is a smart capable girl..I am amazed how much you even know let alone Serenity who is only 12 but seems much older. You girls did a great job on cutting up & skinning those pigs. I wish I was there so I could learn, too. It's kinda hard learning from a video. Some things are just better learned while doing it. I sure appreciate this vid, tho, & looking fwd to seeing the lard rendering. Thank you!! from Angie in AR
@kokonutbaby1 Yes she is.....Thank you so much.....It is hard to learn from a video...Unless it is a full 2-3 hour video....Exahusting....lol...Thank you so much!!!
It is great to see a younger person wanting to do this kind of work. I remember having to do things like thin and not liking it, but am grateful I know how to now. Just found your channel thru LowBuckPrepper and am enjoying it.
Love being Modest..we are the same!!! In a world where you cant even go to walmart without seeing someone that is nearly nude, it sure does help to know that there are others who love modesty also!!
Hey Guys/Gals,, Just a little advice if you would like it, you can cut through the breastbone with your boning knife if you stand to one side and come up with the knife. The bones on that size of pig haven't matured yet, the same for the hip bone. Not trying to be a know it all but I have done literally thousands in my day. Just trying to make life easier..
Can't wait for your lard making video. If you can, could you point out the "leaf lard?" Never quite understood the difference between leaf and other types of lard. Thanks.
@marchetta67 Thank you, I am gonna be doing it soon.....The lead lard is the best lard you get, it is the top, creamiest part....You would use this part for your pies, or finer part of your cooking....theyusually use the latter part for there soap making, but they do also use it all in cooking......
If you arrived by 8:30 you're somewhere south of Route 13 in Illinois. I'm guessing closer to the Ohio or Wabash Rivers than the Mississippi. I think you folks were likely not far from me.
WOW!! now if only all kids were raised this way! Yer whole family would be a huge assett in a SHTF. Yer kids could teach me more than I could ever teach them. Very impressive. When does class start, cause I'd be there!
i can see how knowing how to do that with hogs can be a importaint thing to know how to do and we are going to be picking up some piglets this comming springim working on cutting down the trees around the pen and i just might have enuff firewood doing that for a year or 2 im also thinking after raiseing some hogs a few years from now i can move the pen over and have a nice garden spot
Not a pork eater, but that was a very interesting video. I will be around my Southern relatives for Christmas. And I know they will have tons of pork. Now I can tell them I actually know how it was brought to the point were they can eat it...very cool. Merry Christmas!!! Great vid as usual

Serenity you done a fine job.you put 99.9% of all kids to shame and also most adults to be honest.by the time you reach 18 years old you will be a wealth of knowledge and skill.if i had children i would hope they would be just like you.
misty and mtnman....yall folks are doing a great job in raising your kids.thumbs up !!!
Ohhh real hogs. I though you were going to butcher some "Yankees" like a "hog", like back in the Civil War. Well this is good too. I like a women that's not afrair of getting her hands dirty. Nice vid.
I'm happy to see that you guys believe in sparing the animal any pain. I've watched your video's about killing rabbits and chickens too. The other day I watched a few video's where a woman caused great pain to the animals she killed. It made me sick to see the animals suffer the way they did. Very slow and painful deaths. Bless you for the way you care for your animals. I've learned much from you. Subbed.
You should be proud, your daughter did an awesome job on the pig and on the narrating too. Looks like Misty and Mt. Mountain man are going to be replaced by Serenity Vids. Great Video thanks.
You have a tough girl there... I have a real hard time killing animals.. I guess I shouldn't look in their eyes.. it gets me everytime!! I will leave the killing to the men in my life.. but I do admire women who can do it!
this is a great video - my 11 year old was watching it She too enjoys the butchering process so she was excited to see Serenity processing the hog.. great job!! Merry Christmas
I was wondering if anybody else used a hook blade utility knife as a gut hook. They do work good for that and cheep enough to just toss and buy a new one when it is to dull to use any more. I sure would be real proud of both of those young ladies doing all the work!
the three li'l piggies done turned into alot of pork sausage, yummy pork chops,...hams,...thumbs up Misty Shooter, Serenity and Mountain Man for sharin', and a FÉLIZ NAVIDAD to ya all!! =D
I'll bet you were worn out after that long drive, butchering and long drive back. Serenity did an awesome job. You both did. Merry Christmas to you and the family !!
@MyDaddysgirl44 And I still cannot get done, I have not stopped till just now to nswer all these comments.....I had(got) to take about a 3 hr. round trip yesterday, to go and pick up my new Glock....and still haven;t stopped, I do think it is time though.....

I always gut (field dress) head up. Then you don't have to worry about "leaks." Gravity makes it a lot easier. I've done deer, pigs, bear and all sorts of birds and small game. Might give it a try.
Good job ! I am so pleased to see this tradition handed down ,and not forgotten ,Serenity is with out a dought going to be a "KEEPER " with her mommas guidance and dads encouragement and direction ,yep , no worry s here, its a shame more families dont get this involved with self survival skills . THANKS FOR THE VID !!!! ***** 5 Stars on this one !

I love it when family's do things like this thanks for sharing, God Bless and Have a Merry Christmas.
Thank you for the video. It shows the life God gave us. +About that 'junk;'> it's only junk if it needs to be tossed-out. If there is a future use for 'stuff', it becomes necessary supplies or maybe even future antiques. You could tell the way the 'stuff' was laid-out; it was stored for possible future use. A true-hoarder will end up with just a huge pile of 'junk' without rhyme or reason.
your daughter did real well there I would be very proud! thats whats wrong with people today they have no idea what has to be done so they can eat meat I'm in the UK and if I did that with my children socail services would certainly have something to say about how I raise my kids.
Misty Mountmain and Serenity great job in the butchering I am proud to see others willing to tackle such a job I do have a sugestion. wal mart and other sporting good stores have a bung hole remover that inserts and pulls the large intestion out then zip tie it. makes clean gutting easy also if you lay the hog on a sturdy table for skinning and cutting up has worked better for me for some reason. I still hang deer and other game. Thank you all and keep up the good work
How old was she when she learned how to butcher?

Misty Mountmain and Serenity great job in the butchering I am proud to see others willing to tackle such a job I do have a sugestion. wal mart and other sporting good stores have a bung hole remover that inserts and pulls the large intestion out then zip tie it. makes clean gutting easy also if you lay the hog on a sturdy table for skinning and cutting up has worked better for me for some reason. I still hang deer and other game. Thank you all and keep up the good work
