Not many times a movie punched me like that. The story, the rythm, the music (especially this song)... Absolultly awesome, and perfect like in other godinspired marterpieces like 'Blade Runner', 'Once Upon a time in America' or 'Scarface'

This is such a haunting song. Its use in the beginning and end of the film is a very powerful effect on the film.

Atom Egoyan is hands down Canada's best film maker alive today.

Saw it on the piazza at Locarno Film Festival back in 1994 - overwhelming experience, still goose pimples all over when remembering. What an atmospheric movie in a perfect atmosphere for movies. ;-)

@oldfood The name of this piece is "A hidden place" and it was composed by Mychael Danna (as the other instumental pieces in this wonderful soundtrack)

It is indeed familiar. It is "Entrance of the Montagues and Capulets" from Prokofiev's ballet "Romeo and Juliet".
