What was the piece of meat you pulled out around 3 minutes, you had just removed the belly meat on the top side. Was that an organ or just meat left by your filleting?
@scubafever282828 Is there a "so many oz of egg sac" per month advisory, or just eat what you want or can get? :) Mostly Mercury and/or dioxin, PCB's that good stuff?
@Greenmonoluche Yea they are all muscle and small head compared to most fish, but they are lazy and dont use all their might when you pull them in, sometimes they come in like some seaweed, once in a while you need two arms to hold on to them.
@kungfuslayer this is the right way of filleting the cali hali. Maybe a faster knife would speed things up a bit... But they do *terrible* , unacceptable jobs of filleting fish on a cattleboats. Most of the meat is often wasted.
pretty darn nice knife work. you have prob already tried this, but try making the initial cut on the spine from the head to tail instead of the other way, it works better for me. you look like you have done this a time or two so you most likely already got it down pretty darn good. where off of cali did you get these?
