Ledisi makes me hopeful that we still have artists out there who actually can sing.. Not a some cookie cut out stamped by a record compnay. Who deceive us into believeing we know what we need to hear over and over agian.. She has her own style outside and in and she reminds me of the classic singers.. she will carve out her niche.. Her R&B Album for Universal may not have all of the Jazz flavors that we are used to hearing from Ledisi. I find it to be just as enjoyable. Artist should be allowed to Explore and Create Art. Art (Music) should be allowed to grow, change and Morph. Now Ledisi is Far from Forgettable.. You and I know that. Her Vocals are unmatched by any in the Game right now.

Who is she a clone of. Ledisi has lost NONE of her individuality, guts or glory with her "major label" CDs. That label is a actually Verve, a renowned jazz label - home of Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Clifford Brown to name of a few.
And Verve is owned by Vivendi Universal these days which makes it just another imprint of a major. Just like Blue Note is a part of EMI and a faint echo of its former glory.
Ledisi live, though, may be a total different experience. But her major label releases aren't really my cup of tea.
