what an amazing cat. If that were my sybil, she would have been stuck claw to face on that woman. I can't believe it just sat there and let her do that.
Does this help with fleas? I wanted to shave my cats (well, crop their fur) to try to get rid of some of the fleas- I've tried flea treatments from the vet and they simply don't work, in addition to being carcinogenic. I've also tried washing and combing the cats but nothing seems to work. I was thinking if I shaved their hair closer to their skin, the fleas wouldn't be able to hold on or maybe it would be easier to see them and wash them out. Is this just crazy talk lol?
@pink18101 yes, it doesn't harm them, ahtough you shouldn't do it a lot with adult cats, mothers do it to their kitten and it doesn't harm them at all because they aren't heavy, since adults are heavier it can be unconfortable or a bit painful for them .
btw my white cat is fat, and all i did was the matted areas ; I used a pik to try to loosen the matting away from the skin first. It looks a little choppy but better than having the hair pulling on her skin that hurts her. I would like to know if there is some kind of conditioner that I can get to keep this from happening -it's like the hair is braided...all blends together . She hates being touched or combed but if there's some way to make it more pleasureable i'm all ears.
Never wanted 2shave 'fancy' but she's a tomboy. Usually I can maintain by working off matting but recently it got so bad she decided 2dump the cat box, all over her. So I went looking for "home school' shaving. Usually I agree that is a stupid idea, but this was a situation that had 2B taken care of asap. My husband helped hold her, luckily we have a spare bdrm. I do wish i'd seen your video but thankfully 4a white cat it went well, did have couple close spots. No cuts. She did great & now happy
You know what that's how I clip my cats hair but I don't do the lion one though great job I see alot of people being mean and holding the cat wrong and etc I let the cat do whatever so it don't get stressed but wen I do the belly or legs that's wen I need them to stop whatever there doing be careful wen you do the belly so you don't cut the nipples of the cat.
That is awesome I have been shaving my cats for a few years now and they never look this good. I guess that's why I'm not a professional. I did learn something from this video though. To go with the hair not against it, next time I shave my cats I will try that. I learned a few others tips too. thanks
@TheSnowman134 is more horrible to have hair all over the house and horrible unhealthy to inhale cat hair everyday.. thats why some people do it, like myself, i shave mine every 3 weeks.
Well, try to get a quiet clipper. Start on the backend, and it helps to sing or hum as you clip a cat, so they don't concentrate entirely on the sound of the clipper. Singing, humming, and lots of cute kitty sounds while you clip helps a LOT.
I have a black cat who's about 8 months and is a skinny one. And this will be my first time shaving her but she is a bit squeamish to noise. Any tips for a first timer?
You can very, very easily cut a skinny cat. Besides, there is no reason to shave a cat unless they are hopelessly matted (long hair). For your cat's sake, please leave it to the professionals if you absolutely must.
I came her because of jake and amir.... the shaving one

That was just so expert. Great tips & tricks as you go. And of course, having a sooper compliant creature helps.
