I've been to this place, but made the mistake of going during Halloween when there are already thousands of people there. We all were corralled through in one LONG line, so it wasn't as scary as it could have been. I suggest going through on a regular tour if you plan on visiting.

i went to the so called haunted mansfield reformatory last night and its was a BIG JOKE I drove for 2.5 hours to see it because thought it would be good since it was in a reformaory when had just got outside when fire trucks was coming in they didnt stay long

There was an odd feel in the air in the solitary confinement hall, which is pitch dark. It made me feel sad, almost. A girl slipped there as we were walking. Under one of the stairwells, I felt a chill and a pulling feeling in my chest, and a piece of wood fell from the door in the warden's office, which might just be because the place is old. It was definitely a great experience.

you know whats funny to watch is the clothes they are wearing are actual issue. their numbers were all low numbers too! I was 108459, they are like 30000 numbers and so on. But out on boot hill the cemetary there are numbers like 110 and 780. low numbers from like the 20's or so. we used to go out there and mow grass when I was working at the horse barn on the honor farm! really strange place.
i said it once and i'll say it again- the reformatory is literally two blocks from my house and it is haunted as hell. if you even drive past it on 545 (the highway its on) you can feel the heaviness of the atmosphere.

Does anyone remember which show it was were there were 2 teams, or maybe it was 1 team with different contestants. Most of them were to remain in a control room and 1 or 2 of them at a time, with inward cameras, were 2 go out and explore deep inside abandond hospitals, prisons, etc. Each group of 1 or 2 were being told where 2 go and what 2 do via walkie talkies from the control rooms. If someone didn't complete their task or got scared, they were disqualified. Anyone remember please let me know

if you read about it on the web. there is a road you must take to ge tto the prision and there is a little shack were a woman used to live and before you get to the prison gates, you can pass that shack and look back and you should see the woman walking behind with a lantern

this place is truly haunted..i live near here. and have been there many times for the halloween attractions and then in the summer if you are 21 or over, you can pay 55$ and spend the night in there with a group of friends from 6om to 6am. you can leave whenever but you can not return. its worth it....so scary..

I worked on a film at the reformatory recently. It was a really cool experience, and it is a cool place.

Went to the haunted house a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't bad, but I'll echo the previous comments, very long lines expect a 2 hour wait. I'd actually recommend the all night ghost hunt where you spend the night in the place. My friends and I did it in 2003. I thought it was pretty cool but if you're skeptical and don't suspend your disbelief you're not going to like it.
I went to the ones at Scare Creek which is in Canton. When i went it was really good. Its undernew mangement now so i'm not sure how it is this year, but it was really good!
The haunted house attraction in Mansfield isn't bad, but it's not quite as spectacular as they advertising makes it out to be. The building is well suited to a haunted house because it is so decrepit. But they could have used a few more actors. BE WARNED: RIDICULOUSLY LONG LINES TO GET IN. TWO HOUR MINIMUM WAIT. The wait makes it not really worth your time.
So the tour is pretty good? i was thinking of going i been there for the stupid halloween thing(Was more interested in seeing the reformatory for it history not to be attempted to be scared).. i dont know think i might just spen the extra and go to the all night ghost hunt that would be awesome!

Does anyone remember which show it was were there were 2 teams, or maybe it was 1 team with different contestants. Most of them were to remain in a control room and 1 or 2 of them at a time, with inward cameras, were 2 go out and explore deep inside abandond hospitals, prisons, etc. Each group of 1 or 2 were being told where 2 go and what 2 do via walkie talkies from the control rooms. If someone didn't complete their task or got scared, they were disqualified. Anyone remember please let me know

if you read about it on the web. there is a road you must take to ge tto the prision and there is a little shack were a woman used to live and before you get to the prison gates, you can pass that shack and look back and you should see the woman walking behind with a lantern

this place is truly haunted..i live near here. and have been there many times for the halloween attractions and then in the summer if you are 21 or over, you can pay 55$ and spend the night in there with a group of friends from 6om to 6am. you can leave whenever but you can not return. its worth it....so scary..

The part about the barber and the neck slashing actually happened at the new penitentiary during the shooting of The Shawshank Redemption, but hey - it makes for good media.
I worked on a film at the reformatory recently. It was a really cool experience, and it is a cool place.
This place has a lot of "energy", and I am very spiritual, but this psychic is suggesting way too much to the former inmate. If you were a prisoner their, then you would probably go along with anything. I would ;)

Went to the haunted house a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't bad, but I'll echo the previous comments, very long lines expect a 2 hour wait. I'd actually recommend the all night ghost hunt where you spend the night in the place. My friends and I did it in 2003. I thought it was pretty cool but if you're skeptical and don't suspend your disbelief you're not going to like it.

The haunted house attraction in Mansfield isn't bad, but it's not quite as spectacular as they advertising makes it out to be. The building is well suited to a haunted house because it is so decrepit. But they could have used a few more actors. BE WARNED: RIDICULOUSLY LONG LINES TO GET IN. TWO HOUR MINIMUM WAIT. The wait makes it not really worth your time.

i was just here last night...the prison itself is really cool but the haunted house was just people jumping out at you...one of them tried to give me his number..which really took anything scary out of it. i want to go tour it without the haunted house.
