Reproducing the alesis micron is OK, but akai really needs to reproduce the Alesis Fusion and put 16 MPC pads on it + more real-time controllers. That would be worth having as long as they make the sequencer usable, alesis never got round to that.
this synth is Alesis Ion/micron bastard child. Akai should also buy access virus technology and create ''their'' second synth and call it Akai biohazard.
They are VERY proud of their 600+ preset. It's mentioned in every video.
Tbh i dont get the concept of making a tweakers-synth, then scrap a tweaking-friendly interface (too few knobs and buttons imho), scrap the USB connection thus reducing computer-tweaking options, and spend the rest of the time talking about the presets...
Good sound should go hand in hand with good keys. Look at the Korg XL, the whole thing looks like a toy. I was playing with one but could not get over the keys on it. The sound is great but I cannot play it because of the keys.
Why does every video of this machine have almost nothing but critical comments. So what if it's a hot rodded micron. Whats wrong with that? The micron is a good machine for what it is. Lets wait and see how it turns out before running it into the ground with critical comments.
Given AKAI's history.., is it off base to speculate or assume that this may be nothing more than a repackaged Alesis Micron? Again.., taking into consideration AKAI's history.., it would appear that this new MiniAK specs look pretty close to the Micron. Should we really be calling this the MinicronAK :)
i like the idea of a micron in a tougher case with proper benders. but still not enough effort has been put into making it easier to program. this is just for people who like to MAEK DA BEETS ON DA EMM-PEE-SEE and like to bang around on the advertised 600 presets
It would be a *huge* step forward if they bother and actually release an editor with it. The Micron is nice, but would kick ass if it was programmable via the PC. The community has some editors going, but the progress is slow due to the poor midi documentation on the micron.
This is simply a re-branded Alesis Micron. Akai has been re-branding Alesis products for years. Nothing new, just an added gooseneck mic. The Micron also has an onboard vocoder, and can be had for about half the price Akai is asking for this. Same damn thing.
Its adorable :) but I got a mpk with Reason so its not gonna be too much of a big deal with me but it sounds liek it gots some great synths kinda like a Alesis lol. What I really wanted to see was the vocoder in action tho.
akai have made amazing synths in the past - they should repack them. put this against a little phatty and its like 'will somebody swipe that wasp'...

Also the R3 is a good buy too.

yeah. it's one of the things i like the most about my microkorg

Check out Microzune. It's a perfect editor for the micron.

BTW, this is NOT Akai's first synth. They had several analog synths in the 80s that kicked ass.

hell yeah!. but don't tell people, the 2nd hand prices will rise :'<

Haha. Had to cut the video, because the presenter couldn't get it to make a sound right away, eh?
Anyway, thanks for the video. Finally someone who thought a video of AKAI's first synth was worth making.
It reads and sounds like an Alesis micron in a black dress ;-)
