beautiful car! Love the Ford sign in the garage too;) I love starting our Legacy and watching the gauge sweep....Anyways, How does the C-Diff control work? And does it make much of a difference if you switch Si Drive modes? Also, do you like the VDC system? Sorry for all the questions... ahaha
@normalais She drove great in the winter, especially with the X-Ice2's :). The differentials are different, being that it has DCCD and beefier internals to accommodate the extra power.
Hey bro, im really interested in this car but i want to know all the bad things about this car. Clutch life? registration fee's? tags? other things? gas itnt a big deal. i just dont like buying something and regretting it when i buy something i like to be happy about it and not look back. So far i want the sti or 350z NISMO eidition. i just want something that is perfect especially if i spend 35 g's...... PLEASE HELP ME!!!
@Sandeep9201 I'm at 30k on the stock clutch and feel no softness in the pedal or sluggish acceleration on a highway downshift. Stock clutch should easily top 50k with an experienced driver; that understands these cars.
Registration is dependent on how you get it also, private/dealer. I shell out $290/year, reg/tags. Subarus are love/hate cars. the NISMO is a nice coupe, but factor in what your situation is, will it be practical for you? Winter? Operating costs? Personally I'd take STI > NISMO
@Sandeep9201 The bad things about these cars are typically a rough stock tune, surrender monkey paint, the "Subaru squeaks" while driving, tire noise on the stocks, suspension stiffness ect. Nothing out of the realm of 'normal' for a Subaru. Any issues you run in to are easily resolved with a tune, some 3M invisible guard/winterizing the body depending on your location.
Try to find a dealer/friend with an STI, drive it if possible, see one. Feel it out, you'll know if it's the car for you.
@g00b3r7 How much is that 3M guard? and does it leave residue on the paint when you take it off? and were can i get it? does it need professional?installation? sorry for all the questions i always thought man when i get a GTR ill get that 3M but i never thought that the sti might need it but now i think the 3M would be a great idea for the sti too.
@AyraBoy that's to control how the center diff distributes the power. example: auto- sends more power to the rear wheels, and more power to the front for auto+. manual is basically controlling precisely how much power goes to front/rear yourself. how do i know? i own an 08 STi as well :]
oh, and there is no way for a vehicle with 3 pedals to shift automatically.
@jasonw56k hey, we all gotta start somewhere, don't we? anyway, you would typically want to send more power to the front in low-traction conditions. i never got the chance to try it out yet, as we don't get snow in cairns :P
@Hometownboredom Just keep up with Subaru, research what you want...come time if you still want an STI, or even and EVO (yes I love both =]), you'll have a plethora of choices by that time!
@g00b3r7 Yeah, I know. Me and my dad test drove a white '08 Subaru Impreza STi. It felt kinda overweight. I currently own a '98 Subaru Impreza Brighton. Going to swap it with an STi engine sometime.
@g00b3r7 I alsi said fuckyou to you. :P Damn I want that car so bad, still need the money, but I'm going to buy the Impreza 2.5i Sport in the next weeks, can't wait for it!! After a couple of years with this one, I hope I will get my hand on a STi
@kohoko 2.5i Sports are a good start, a fellow Impreza owner I chat with at FinalGear has one, adds something new every day! Personally, if I was going N/A...I love the 2.5RS...the GC look is so damn sexy.
typical sti owner finding any reason to be inside the car..lol..nice choice im buying a used 09 pretty soon, hows she holding up in the rain or snow if you have any? any issues or problems come up? anything you dont like about it?
I think the biggest reason I went STI over EVO was because of being a previous STI owner, and I needed a bit more utilitarian use out of my car with cargo space and all. And for some reason the local Mitsu dealer was bottom barrel to get an EVO at the time (Jan. '08), unless I forked over more than I did for the STI order. In I had just straight fallen in love with my Subies, but wish I could have an MR Touring at the same time!
The song is Röyksopp - Circuit Breaker. Great driving song.
Congrats man! Excellent color choice! I'm going to be picking up a 2010 in December, are there any options you think I should definitely get? Also if there's anything you think I should know/wish you had known going into the buying experience please share!
Hehe yeah it was pretty bad for the first couple weeks of having the car, and during the 1000mi break in. I get around 20-21mpg now with my driving habits...17-18mpg if I get a little spirited between tanks =]
They are a bit lower than the WRX models, which run 8.4:1
My STI has 8.2:1 to make up for the increased pressure from the turbocharger, can't blow those nice heads...or destroy pistons on higher compression :D
when you have it in neutral, the daytime running lights turn off if you pull the handbrake. i think the key-headlight switch is a good idea. i always used to forget to turn off my headlights. now its not a problem haha
hey remember that video request i asked u about? if you are able to do it, if you like, can you also add that in there too, cos i've been watching other STi videos and people have been asking similar questions to mine. i used to think they were dumb, but not really. it's interesting to know alot about my favorite car
Unlocking the doors using the remote gives you the option to unlock the driver's door only when pressed once and all doors unlock when you press unlock for the second time...What if you try to unlock the doors using the key?? is it the same as the remote or just 1 turn of the key will unlock all doors??
You know I have maybe once used my key to unlock the door, and I think it just does the drivers side, doesn't unlock everything. Would be pretty damn neat though if it did.
I do, but it's not a clear winner over it. I like it for being wagon form, there is a lot more room for me to haul things. It's got the nice gadgets like VDC, updated DCCD, and SI drive. A little bit of a tamed ride with the double-wishbone rear suspension, but hasn't lost any of it's bite.
looks great man. i love that color. random question: does the 08 STi have the same shift beeper as the previous model years? i've seen the light, but haven't heard the beep in other videos...
yo i have a video request. can u do a video of you accelerating w/ the rev limiter cos i havent seen a video of an 08 accelerating or going to top speed. u think u can do dat?
Like the rev indicator light? I could definitely do that, even tomorrow . Just got a suction mount so I can have it record over my shoulder, I won't be going at any extreme speeds though =]
nice car, i'm looking into one myself, what is your avg mpg? does the SI drive in I mode save fuel like they claim? sorry to bust your chops, your garage seems to need a lil cleaning, haha, but sweet ride
I get about 21mpg overall. Intelligent mode is a bit of a saver in town since the throttle is dulled down a lot, but the highway it won't make a difference, like when you're in cruise. It will keep it tamed when overtaking.
As for my garage, well it's a lot cleaner now, I had to fit my Mustang in there =P
ohh cool thats very useful, does the 06-07 STi have that cos thats the one i wanna get, also does it come with the same security system, and do they lights flash when the key is inserted in the ignition like this one? sorry for asking so much questions its jus dat i really love subaru's i jus wanna know everything about them lol
'06-'07 comes with the directional headlights, but the handbrake would trip the lights on and off as oppose to the key being put in/out of the ignition on my '08. The same security system too...I shoulda kept my '06 for a bit to do a comparison :).
I definitely share your same enthusiasm for Subies, I can't say I would drive anything else :)
i wouldnt either but i dont have a choice, i drive my parents Crown Vic SE LX. What do you mean by directional headlights? and another questions, THE DRLs, do both HID (lower output than night) and tailights come on for daytime driving? cos i seen so many videos where ppl have the front and rear lights on in the day
Headlights go up and down, too bad they don't turn left/right with the steering =P.
As for DRL, the the '08 is DRL only (the lame low powers) unless you turn headlights on.
The '06-'07 is all HIDS all the time, with just a very low power parking light that can be selected on or off that sits on the top of the steering column.
I get about 22mpg combined. From the day I got it until about 2000 miles, I was getting 15mpg....which kind of worried me for a bit. I got a good judgment of it on my trip up to Minnesota, highway, interstate, and city driving got me 22mpg.
I did get 30mpg being very conservative with the throttle during county and highway driving though.
Nice car, I'm thinking about getting one, how much is the lease on it?
But my main question towards you is what was the name of that song??? That was dope! Can you email it to me or at least tell me the name? Thank you soo much
Thanks! I'm not sure what the lease prices are, I'd guess in the $300 range due to the type.
The song that was playing is Röyksopp - Circuit Breaker, very awesome song =]. I suggest finding their CD if you are into electronica or techno-like music.
Thanks, no mods yet. But I am soon ordering an electrical boost gauge from Prosport, and will be heading to AMS in Illinois for my birthday to get her stage one tuned.
As Akrexak said, iPod is playing on AUX that is in the center console. Too bad my wires have to be pinched through it though...no grove for them to lay in like the Legacy line.
When i saw the red light STI i had an orgasm!

g00b3r7 3 years ago
how do u do that with the lights?
1englandnigga 3 years ago
Them going on and off quickly is due to the key going in and out of the ignition, you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving your lights on.
Moving up and down, I have a roller on the left that points the headlights down/up if I am a bit blinding to oncoming traffic.

The '06-'07 is all HIDS all the time, with just a very low power parking light that can be selected on or off that sits on the top of the steering column.

oh that what that button was for. i wondered.
but what about the tailights, do they come on with the DRLs?

g00b3r7 3 years ago

hi how many miles per gallon do u get?
twincam2 3 years ago
I get about 22mpg combined. From the day I got it until about 2000 miles, I was getting 15mpg....which kind of worried me for a bit. I got a good judgment of it on my trip up to Minnesota, highway, interstate, and city driving got me 22mpg.
I did get 30mpg being very conservative with the throttle during county and highway driving though.

Nice car, I'm thinking about getting one, how much is the lease on it?
But my main question towards you is what was the name of that song??? That was dope! Can you email it to me or at least tell me the name? Thank you soo much
gevorgjaan 3 years ago
Thanks! I'm not sure what the lease prices are, I'd guess in the $300 range due to the type.
The song that was playing is Röyksopp - Circuit Breaker, very awesome song =]. I suggest finding their CD if you are into electronica or techno-like music.
g00b3r7 3 years ago
Yes, I like electronica a lot! Thanks a lot, have fun with the car! :-)

wat was the button u pressed at 45sec
was it to choose btwn manual with stick and auto !?
ore5ama 3 years ago
That was to either put my center differential into manual mode where I can set the split, or have it automatically do it.
g00b3r7 3 years ago
it was a six speed stick, how do you change it into auto?

that cars sick how does it feel when your speeding
earvinv92 3 years ago
Well..I'd say it feels pretty planted when I'm up to speed =]
g00b3r7 3 years ago
dang. the new STi is REALLY starting to grow into me.
i'm still gonna get the sedan (04 or 06, not gonna complain when i get either one)......but if they are hard to get, then i'll just get the new one.
NavyDentalCorps 3 years ago 6
No matter which you get, it's a great choice! I haven't had a bit of negative points towards any of the years of STI.
g00b3r7 3 years ago

does it have an aux plug or whatever its called???
f4r20 3 years ago 2
He plays with the ipod thats attached to the AUX..
akrexak 3 years ago
As Akrexak said, iPod is playing on AUX that is in the center console. Too bad my wires have to be pinched through it though...no grove for them to lay in like the Legacy line.
