  • i need somebody too, cities are not adapted 4 people on wheelchair...

  • The stares...yes. Good point abt most people have good intentions when holding doors, but it rarely feels genuine.

  • What's with all the being pushed in this "project"?

  • this is to pantyfalsh comment if u have any kindness toward people in chairs DONT FUCKING CALL US CRIPPLE. sorry to get mad but that word is like calling a black person a nigger to a lot of us. we are not cripple, or handicapped, we are just physically challenged. my friends learned very fast not to call me a cripple when i was at a perfect height to punch them in the nuts. so just pls watch the language u call us by.

  • @daemonhunter79 totally agree. I am not ina wheelcahir, bt I tell off total strangers for that. And for when they treat people in wheelcahirs like idiots.

  • @daemonhunter79 CRIPPLE! CRIPPLE! GIMP! HANDICRAPPED! Deal with it.

  • I commend you for taking a "Glimpse" into the world of a wheelchair bound person.

However there are some points to your project that don't work in the real world.

To get a real look into our world...You need to spend atleast 72hrs IN your chair with no one helping.

Transfering to your chair, bed & into a shower (bench), Cooking, Cleaning, Grocery shopping. Its ALL a lot of work without the use of your legs.

The simplest mundane tasks can become difficult in our world.

  • where did you get the wheelchair to do your project? and how mutch did you have to rent it? should try the project on a public bus.

  • try being a quad

  • Like, wonderful tribute to folks whose spines are hosed. Not being a cripple, you were truly able to be the happiest girl in a wheelchair. Because of abject misery imposed by their condition, actual cripples (confined to wheelchairs) are harder pressed to attain as high of a happiness level. You go, girl!

  • I liked this video. I recently have been placed in a wheelchair due to a motorcycle accident. Doctors says I will be here for appox. 1year or longer. I can totally relate to the tight places, the knuckles being victims and the stares that you receive from others, especially in large crowds.

  • you did fairly well. Being in a wheelchair is not easy especially when dealing with inclines, broken down elevators, etc.

  • I Realy like this video , good job

  • Yeah it's that hard...now imagine if your hands didn't work either .-. ...

  • oh and I know this video is for experience, just in case someone newbie in wheelchair sees this...XD

  • try carrying the binders instead of backpack, much easier. And we can't put drinks between our legs like you cause well...actually I can't XD

cause I'm paralyzed and my leg don't have the power to hold it. And as for doors, it's like other ppl said, open it, push in while you have the chance

  • where did u get the wheelchair to borrow . how mutch did it cost if you rented it.

  • Hi nice video, I invite you to see mine and get in touch to share adventures.

  • this is an amazing video.

this is really what append on all our lifes!!!

thanks for show this to everyone.

jonatan from argentina i´m on weelchair.

  • where and how did u get the wheelchair u should of tried going in bus

  • I hope you got an A++++++++++. This was nicely done and it accurately showed what physically disabled people go through.

  • ive been in a chair all my life and everything u said i couldnt agree with more thank you for showing otha ppl it to but u cant forget the worst part of it all the stares ppl give u like ur an alien or sumthing u can get used to crowds or tight spaces but even afta 14 yrs the stares still hurt

  • I know O_O

    stares....it burns!!! XDDD

I mean c'mon, what's so strange about girl in a wheelchair?

  • It was a good video, mostly people put here backpacks on the back of the wheelchair, and ask people ot hand them a book or only carry one at a time.. second, the way you put your soda was the same way I used to do that..great job, and for doors you just have to be quicker to do them yourself, open the door, and push in quickly, or hold on with one hand and steer with the other one. I've lived in wheelchairs my entire life, it gets easier.

  • see im too embareced to asl for help idk y but i am

  • Thanks so much for this video! I too am in a w/c and was particularly pleased to see that 'crowds' can really rattle you. Many thanks for notating this, as a lot of people don't understand this

  • The rigid frame ultra-lite wheelchairs like what I have are better than those heavy chrome ones. Doors aren't that bad, you build up a lot of muscles pushing a chair, I used the mall as a workout room when I got out of rehab. BTW, I either grab or put my chair against objects and push them, be it door, couch or chair to move it.

Point out blocking ramps, stripes, or handicap parking makes things very difficult. My van requires 6 feet of space beside it to set down the lift.

  • I love what you are doing. I lost the use of my legs last month and am learning how to use a wheelchair before the college sem starts again. The basic mechanics are easy enough, but as you've pointed out, it is difficult to get around

  • felicidaes por el video...pero es la realidad ke pasa uno.. como discapacitado..

sorry I not espeaken english...very good video...

  • it the one way to gain some understanding is to spend a day in one... can i borrow kevin plezzze

  • in a wheelchair u looked desirable...as an able bodied person ur prob not worth knowing although love the song..

  • lol you got demons bro

  • I love your project ;0) even though it was just for a few hours it's a good way to get a good idea of things you otherwise wouldn't notice. I have a wheel chair because of my mitochondrial disease and I soooooo wish that college faculty had to go around school like that even just for a couple of hours.

  • You really show some good points there, and what I liked about this video you didn't made a sad thing to be in a wheelchair, but well there is difficult, but it not sad! :D I'm in a wheelchair my self :P

  • well actually this stuff is pretty easy once you are in one for bout a couple of years like me,its funnt evryone like helps me and i like never except it,i never like help or making ppl do stuff for me,like ppl opening doors for me,for some reason it really makes me mad,i can open the door,if i need help i will ask,ppl that arent chair wont understand,or it could just be me

  • I get where you're coming from. Ppl opens door for me all the time and I can open the door by myself completely fine. I've been in wheelchair for long too. But I don't really get mad because although they won't understand I'm sure those ppl had good intentions =)

  • very well done! I'm in a wheelchair. all you point out here in so true

  • Just an fyi to anyone who watches this vid, we had to do a project that allowed us to relate to people with disabilities.

In all honestly it was only a 3 hour block, and I give credit to anyone who has to spend any real amount of time in a wheelchair.

This is not meant to offend anyone.

  • hehe keep in mind that things were probably a lot harder for you cus you were in a sucky chair! if you made the back lower and took off the arm rest and had a more comfortable foot rest, then it woulda been a piece of cake! (i know it was just an experiment, but you should know that life is really easy when you're in a chair that is "spec't" for you!

  • wheelkitten - I'm not sure if that was really a typo or not, but it's pretty obvious this person doesn't actually use a wheelchair but is doing some sort of campus accessibility experiment.

Anyway, hope you guys learned lots!

  • ha yea I can imagine, your the happiest girl in a wheelchair because your REALLY IN ONE...
