I lost the roller ball for about and hour though. I think a better bet might be to get a can of air and blow it into the mouse first. That may dislodge the dust etc.

Good job on the taredown, but as an ex-store employee, let me give you some advice.

If your MM won't scroll in any direction, get a "Makeup Removal" Alchohol wipe, and rub it vigourously on the ball. That should fix it right up.

In the store, there are wipes specifically for the job, but I don't think anywhere sells them to the public.
