Wow! I remember riding with my best friend every weekend Saturday nite, listening to the "One more from the Road 8-track with this song, Smoking Columbian gold bud,....
It would be kind of difficult for poor Ronnie to find a wise man nowadays. Lou Reed put it best over 20 years ago: "You can't depend on any wisemen / You can't find 'em / 'cause they ain't there". Sadly true.
@noodlesr59767 : Hell brutha, you're right on que, but it goes beyond that: During the late 60's/ early 70's, from Macon GA (Allman Bros), on down to Tampa FL (The Outlaws), w/ Jacksonville FL eastward in between (Skynyrd & Blackfoot), would make that area the equivalent of England's early-mid 60's british rock breeding-ground. "Lynyrd Skynyrd is the USA south's equivalent of England's Yardbirds".
they are all gone - Gary Rossingtion & Artimus Pyle are the only ones left. God rest Billy Powell....who passed recently.....we love them, we miss them...and God knows they have one helluva band......
@LoganStegall ... I have to agree .. what a shooting star he was .. That guy had it all ... chops , feel, tone, and a great voice .. my favorite album was and still is Street Survivors .. THE BEST !!! .. mind you this live album kicks major ass doesn't it ? Going to see them this Wednesday .. can't wait .. sure would of loved to have seen them when this was recorded though
Fucking AWESOME, saw them the year before they DIED, they lowered a confereredate flag (no matter they were not in the South), it was COOL, lighters lit up everywhere, Free Bird the closing song. Powerful.
