VC, the short answer to your question about whether this would work for an eating disorder is "YES". Although the process by which this would work would require to be different (since it's a different kind of problem), the overall approach -- that is, doing whatever is necessary to change how a person perceives whatever "makes" them want to do an unresourceful behavior -- is essentially the same.
