Near as I can tell, the wood wants to be left alone to grow into a larger tree :-) However, the cuts here follow the grain and texture of the wood and it is a quite enjoyable experience. At least the last few hundred bowls were.
I am using a 5/16" Oland and a 1/4" Oland. I think the speed is fairly slow, about 800 or 1000 I would guess. As I recall I left the speed where it was when I was roughing the outside. Usually I turn the inside faster because the balance is better after roughing the outside.
Great videos i really enjoyed then but i found it really difficult to find the right video.
