I strongly disagree with you. Japanese women were also working as comfort women for the Japanese soldiers during World War II. Comfort women were recuruited as prostititutes. That is the same as other wars in the past. After the 2nd WW, many Japanese women worked as comfort women for soldiers of allied force to survive. If people, like you insist about appology and compensation. Many countries should the same why only Japan? I'm so sick and tired of such a hypocritical coment.
@katsudon2009 If after the war, Japanese women had to sell their bodies to allied forces to survive, then it would mean they were paid for sex. However, comfort women in China and Korea were not paid. They were sex slaves. I have also read the Japanese government recruited comfort women for the allied soldiers; the comfort stations were not set up by the Allies themselves. Ergo, if that is true, then I believe the Japanese government owes an apology to all those women in general.
@TelcontarRulz Chinese and Korean comfort women were not paid? Do you still believe such a propaganda? There's already proper evidence also that they were paid and saved lots of money while they were working as comfort women. Have you been to Japan? You can see many prostitutes from China and Korea in Japan, nowadays. I hope they will not accuse Japan as sex slaves though they work as prostitutes ileagally.
@katsudon2009 There was evidence from Western Historians that they were not paid. A westerner who went and spoke to the comfort women described their plight very well. They were not paid. I hope you don't believe the Japanese propaganda about them doing it willingly. The prostitutes in modern Japan, however, probably were not forcefully captured and put into a camp situation and then forced to serve men.
Just MY opinion and for whatever it is worth I in no way mean to sound argumentive. I do respect your opinion and thankful that we can possibly agree to disagree and still be friendly. I do wish you a good day.
Well in answer to your question IF some one were to do such things to my family an "apology" just would not cut it. I would simply beat those responsible to death or at the very least put a bullet in their head. Now in regards to situation occurring in a place and time before I was born, then to be perfectly honest what difference in reality does it make. Really what good is an "apology" anyway. In these types of situations, it means absolutely nothing. I am not responsible for others actions
@suthnbikerman47 An apology just goes a long way towards reconciliation. From what I've read, the victims want an official apology from the government, and have nothing against regular Japanese people. I would just like the Japanese government to acknowledge what happened during WWII was not right and promise they will never do something like that again. I don't think physical revenge is a great idea because it always causes more hatred.
@suthnbikerman47 The fact you say you would wreak revenge on those who commit these crimes against your family means you already acknowledge it was wrong. This video is really directed at the people who says it's no big deal and we should just move on and get over it, and forget about it.
The thing is though that in 1965 Japan paid Korea $800,000,000 which was to be paid to victims with claims but instead the Korean government used the money for building projects and the victims didn't see a red cent.
@dylanotoshiro To my knowledge, there has not been a proper official apology. I'm not so clear on Korea, but I know there has never been an official apology to the Chinese victims. The perpetrators of these crimes are also honoured in a shrine. The victims want an official apology from the government.
@TelcontarRulz I do feel for the comfort women but in all fairness an apology would be meaningless nowadays considering that for the most part, the people who committed the crimes are dead and the ruling government had nothing to do with the crimes in korea/china. I live in ireland and the english did some terrible thing in the time they were here worse than in korea/china in many cases but I wouldn't want an apology because its all in the past and an apology wouldn't fix a thing.
@dylanotoshiro I can't say I agree with you. An apology is an acknowledgement that what was done was wrong and a promise that it will not be done again.
@TelcontarRulz I think it pretty clear that Japan wouldn't do such a thing again and Japan paying $800,000,000+ in claims is acknowledgement of wrong doing enough isn't it?
@dylanotoshiro China is still waiting though. While the current emperor is not responsible for the sins of his ancestors, an apology would do a lot for the advancement of goodwill. It's a diplomatic move, the way Germany apologized even though the person who made the apology was not responsible for the Holocaust.
@TelcontarRulz China still owes lots of appology and compensation for victims in Tianamen square and abused minority races in China. Also, Commy China tried to invade Vietnam in 1979. Fortunately, Vietnam bravely kicked them out though. Germany appologized? Are you talking about Nazi Germany? Commy China is the same as Nazi Germany which ignore freedom of speech and election and oppress anti-commy china and minority races. Those victims of china re stiil waiting appoligy though.
@TelcontarRulz I mean china isn't without blame either, the Chinese have done some absolutely horrific things to their own people some of which is still going on now for example falun gong. frankly I don't think anyone in china would give a shit if Japan apologised even the victims who are probably dead by now.
War crime? What is that? War crimes are honoured in a shrine? Your knowledge is like brain washed by Commy China that is notorious evil as dectatorship nation which abuse human rights and oppress inocent minority races, Tibettans, EastTar kistans, Inner Mongolians. Massacare in Tianamen square is also absolutely crime. What about war crime which was commit by U.S and S.Korea during Vietnam war? Yasukuni shrine is the same as war memorial place to make worship for sacrificed soldiers.
@katsudon2009 If I am brainwashed by the Chinese, perhaps you are brainwashed by the Japanese government and your emperor, who I find to be most guilty of all those war crimes. I don't excuse what the US committed in the Vietnam war, by the way, nor do I support the oppression of anyone.
@TelcontarRulz LOL! I'm brain washed by Japanese government and emperor? You're so funny! Have you been to Japan and discussed with people in Japan about historical education in Japan? I'm totally exahugsted to such a typical stereotype. Teachers in Japan used to teach me almost the same as you insist and blamed Japan as evil. So, many Japanese people in my generation are brainwashed with the same idea as yours. However, many people in Japan began to face toward the reality.
@TelcontarRulz Ok, so you don't excuse what the US committed in the Vietnam war. But, what about present evil issues which are being done by Commy China? Abusing human rights, minority races, Tibettans, East Turkistans, massacare in Tianamen square? Give me the straight answer without any excuse. Otherwise, don't reply me b/c it's waste of time to debate with you. Thanks!
@TelcontarRulz Most guilty of the war crime? Why don't you list up independent nations in Asia before the 2nd World War? Almost, all of nations in Asia were colonies of Europian Empires, Britain, France, etc, except Japan, Thailand and Tibet. What about China? Main land of China was divided like cake by Britain, France, Germany, Russia, etc. China lost Hong Kong after opium war with Britain. I really wonder why China is still mad to Japan, not Britain, other Europian Empires? I know the reason!
