It is traditional to play rudra veena in the dhrupad style with pakhawaj accompaniment. There are many very good pakhawajis around now. Mohan Shyam Sharma, Manik Munde and many others. You should try to play with a serious and competent pakhawaj player and I think it will sound very nice.
