Westel is 10.0.0.1 which gets you into your westel settings. Then go down and set it to xbox live.

@KETIMENE Ok, What you need to do is restart your router for at least 30 mins. By doing this it is resetting your connection (refreshing rather). And i know it say like 30 seconds or 15 seconds but trust me this works.

Forget the router what if you only connect to a modem??? Every tutorial out there always refers to a router. I don't use a router I just connect straight to my modem and have this problem of disconnecting every 5-10mim. I need help.

total fix after setting up my linksys router. xbox told me my NAT was moderate, caused lag in modern warfare 3. suggested I adjust my unpnp or open port 3074. tried another tutorial, fail. this was so easy to understand. a big help was him explaining to put the last digits of ur xbox ip adress in the last port field. solved my problem. one question. in the linksys admin program, where would i find Dhcp reservation if I had it. what tab in the program would it be under?

@justthathunter type in your routers ip address if it does a google search then that is not the correct one it should say on your router what it is if not then gotta go to run in the start menu type in "cmd" then type ipconfig/all then it should be in there.

Thanks for the port numbers that helped. So far I have not needed 53. I did set my XBox's IP, subnet and Gateway manually so that they would stay the same. I did not try it in Automatic. Now once my youngest gets off the second XBox I will try and get them both running on the same router and take out the totally open old 54G router.

If you are not a Techie and/or Trekkie, AND all these ports and numbers and where to correctly put those letters and numbers are confusing the heck out of you. Go to the URL he included below. He explains it better in writing. Or just reset your Xbox's network settings to factory default then search for available network connections, if you see your wireless connection, click on it. Then put in your wireless password, and VIOLA, you're in. At least that's what worked for me.

my connection has been terrible for 3 months and it was good for 4 years just out of no where it got bad..so i thought i needed an update so i upgraded my modem router twice tried new tv's got new wiring got rid of all the splitters on the line... tried db annuator's on the modem to lower downstream power cause it was a bit high still no luck... i have 50 mbps down and 5 upstream speeds... so i know my speeds are significant... it was never like this before and i have alot faster speeds now...

@Asteroidblues18 enable DMZ and set any number from 1-100. on the xbox with strict NAT, manually set the ip to the same as the DMZ and it should work. Hope this helps :)

Hey everyone, just fixed my problem and wanted to share with everyone I did. My problem was I connected to internet but couldnt connect to xbox live. I found my IP address and all and on my laptop it said 10.0.0.4 when I set xbox to default it says 5 instead of 4. I changed it to 4 manually, didnt work, reset it to auto and it went back to 5 but for some reason worked hope I helped lol

I've searched every trying to find a solution to open the same ports but to two seperate Ip addresses.

I have 2 xbox's in my house and only one can be made to an Open NAT and the other has to stay as a Strict NAT.
