When I clicked the link it said the video was removed by user. But I agree that people need to stop and think about what they are saying or writing to someone else.
I've used Vimeo. I feel it's a little too "professionally pristine". YouTube is what it is because of the personalities. Camera, lighting, 24p or 30p be darned. Those qualities make a video better. But nothing will save a video if the content is bad.
I completely agree. Lately I've had to use my iPod to film all of my videos which is a challenge in itself. I've been looking into better cameras/equipement since I started making my videos and basically spend all of my money on it since it makes the task easier and it's fun. If I had more money, obviously my equipement would be better, no one else needs to tell me that :-P
ngvgn's focus is clearly on technical quality. That's valid in and of itself. But my concern is content. So, I pay exclusive attention to what a vlogger says, and only secondarily to the technical appearance, and even then it wouldn't occur to me to address it as an issue unless it profoundly interfered with my enjoyment of . . . the content.
I will say this (and I notice this of others); ngvgn sounds a tad out of touch with the economic limitations that constrain the majority.
If anything, having less-than-perfect visuals makes a person step up their content quality. It's kind of like that phenomenon where you lose one sense, and the others are strengthened to make up for it.
It was words of a materialist who thinks HD is a big deal. Most of our beloved classic films weren't even filmed with the cameras of today. It is truly down to quality. While I upgraded to HD from my camcorder, I was very anti-HD before, but the camera I use makes me feel more happier with how I film but I know it doesn't make the difference as to whether people watch ny videos or not.
I wouldn't say that the equipment one uses doesn't matter at all. A video that has been filmed with an old cell phone camera can get a little exhausting to watch. And it's annoying when you can't even understand what a person is saying because their microphone really sucks. But I watched Raquel's video, and the impression I got was that she makes nice videos. The picture is clear, the lighting is good, and I can understand her well. It looks like she puts a lot of effort into making videos. ...
...I admire any youtuber who spends time creating nice videos even if it's not their real job. Of course there are those who can afford super expensive utensils because being on youtube is their occupation. But I appreciate a nice "normal" vlog just as much as a professionally filmed video.
We can't get the kind of attention that people who can afford to spend huge amounts of time and money on their videos do. You have to have money to make money and it's one of the reasons the world kinda sucks sometimes.
People are assholes about video quality. It's a class issue. I'm sorry, but no really big YouTuber does it with no production quality. It's not how good the videos are. It's how the average viewers perceive the videos and lots of assholes won't watch videos unless they have great quality.
It bugs me when someone like Kristina Horner or Vondell Swain says camera quality doesn't matter because they HAVE good cameras. It's just like rich people saying money isn't needed to be happy.
@TheMinuteVlog Hm, Kristina actually didn't have great camera quality until somewhat recently, and even then she was a successful vlogger and, in my opinion, had very good content as well. Not to say her camera quality was horrible or anything, it just wasn't super fancy.

You need to breathe during your videos.

I like the hat. I approve of it.
Yeah, I need a new camera. And a new computer. And a better editing software. And better lighting. But I don't have 'a money'.
Such a stupid thing for someone to say!

Are you in a room with a dryer running? It sounded like a clothes dryer tumbling in the background, thanks for the reminder to go switch the clothes!
